Campbell comes through!!!!!!

Lagares with a 2 run triple!
These two bailed out Collins with that horrible decision to bunt Flores.

I know this team is riding high and I'm sure as hell enjoying the ride but his lack of experience actually managing big games is a concern for me. A much bigger spotlight on him now.

Just picked up O'Flaherty from the As for a PTBNL and DFAed Alex Torres.

I know he stunk this year but his numbers were off the charts prior. Worth a gamble.

Yep. And he's dominated lefties this year as well, which is all they'll use him for.

The amazing part about it is how hard it is to go on a long losing streak when you have studs like this being trotted out 3/5 games

Oh my holy freaking god. Just... omg. Exhausted.

BUT WE ####### WON. In midst of freefall uberchoke, we got it done.

Need a drink.

Didn't get to watch, but why did Harvey come out? An eye on innings limit? 88 pitches and cruising through 7. At least on paper. I know they are up 7, but was Terry thinking this was a laugher?

Well, it was a laugher. It was 8-0 after 7, no reason to give Harvey an extra inning or two that can be used in a crucial spot. But my god, what a stressful ending.

Nats currently losing 8-2. If that score holds the Nats will have a +21 run differential and the Mets will be +15. More importantly, the Mets will have a 2 game lead.

Ok, now that I've had a chance to breathe..

HOW GOOD DID SANDY DO?

Yes, I'm taking tequila shots from that game and using caps. We Mets fans have earned that priviledge.

Cespedes is just a really, really good overall ballplayer. I thought he was very good. He has looked just great.

Uribe is such a solid, clutch contributor. Baseball of all sports lacks players who "make other players better" - but Uribe seems a little like the glue that makes everything work that much better.

Loving this team.

At 8-0 you need to have SOME faith in your pen. Misguided as that may have been tonight (jk, can't have thought even 6 runs could happen. Again).

88 is a nice, super easy night. Stretched out but in no way strained. We all know about the innings issue, so saving an inning here seemed to make a ton of sense. The only other option, but something I'd only have used with a Vet that doesn't have the health/innings concern, would be the have him pitch until someone got on base - but it's not like we are preserving a no-no here.

No issue taking him out. Smart thing to do, imo.

Yep. Totally agree. Even getting Kelly Johnson was big. Now the Mets have actual depth and they can send up actual major league hitters (Johnson, Uribe, Flores) as pinch-hitters late in the game instead of the legendary Danny Muno/Eric Campbell duo.

Uribe reminds me of an older and more powerful Endy Chavez

Great contributor here and there will platoon and give you a 277 average but if you play him 145 games he will end up batting 245 and get exposed.

Looking at who was sitting on the Mets' bench these last two nights and comparing that against who was actually starting for this team less than two weeks ago (like the Kershaw game) is just insane.

It will be interesting to see what happens when Cuddyer comes back. I hope Terry's "if you hit, you play" mantra is true. If it is, then we'll only see Cuddyer against lefties, because at this point both Johnson and Conforto are better options than Cuddyer when a righty's pitching. But, money talks. We'll see what happens.

Just think how much better the offense will be when Wright gets back. It's nice to know that we're not relying on it though.
To be honest it will be interesting to see how Wright gets re-integrated. Uribe really brings something to the table including clutch and intangibles. How long / will Wright really get his swing back. How does 2B work out with Flores and Murph (who has twice that I've seen been very slow to first on what should have been an easy out)

To be honest I'm thinking we have seen the last of an effective David Wright, as sad as that may be.

Side note on what has impressed me a good deal on Cespedes....23 plate appearances and only 1 strikeout.

For a team that had been striking out a lot, having Cespedes in the middle of the lineup putting the ball in play is huge. Hope he keeps it up.

What a ####### win is right. Clutch hitting, everyone contributing up and down the lineup. First time in team history they've come back from a deficit in the 7th, 8th, and 9th

And the Nats blow a 4 run lead.

Awesome win and Nats loss. I'm in Vancouver on vacation, and a guy saw my Mets hat, walked up and high-fived me, and yelled "Jays-Mets World Series!" I wouldn't go that far, but it really is awesome to watch this team now. Even when DeGrom is "off" like he was last night, he gives up 2 runs in 6+ innings with no walks and 7 Ks. That's close to an ace performance from a normal pitcher.
