***Official NY METS 2014 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Amazing luck we didn't lose any of our lead this weekend. How the team responds now is massive.
Yep,

Nats are imploding.

Now is the time to push away and keep em down.

I know they are playing TERRIBLY but not a team you would want to let squeak into the playoffs

I'm not sure how much else could be done for the bullpen at this point. It will undoubtedly be the downfall of this team, either with another playoff push collapse or in the postseason. Considering they made one major move and a couple other smaller ones already to help out, there's just not many more ways to strengthen the pen.

I wouldn't worry about the pen in the playoffs.

You figure 2 of Matz/Colon/Niese will hit the pen should we make the playoffs.

Matz and Montero may be effective relievers down the stretch. I guess Vic Black is still a possibility. If he was shut down for the year, I didn't hear about it.

Montero suffered a setback in his rehab a few days ago. Pretty sure they're shutting him down for the year.

I did not hear that. I only saw that he had pitched a few days ago. Okay, so he is out and useless.

Come on METS!

In the hospital with abdominal and colon issues so bored as hell (though the dilaudid helps ;-).

Need them to keep the pedal down on this one to get me through the night.

Grrrr. Can't give extra outs in Coors.

Need to find ways to start winning these games again and it's gotta start tonight

This is 100% on colon. You ####### walk a guy before Arenado? And the double by Blackmon on an 0-2 count. For a Veteran it's Pathetic. Would much rather Gee ... How long til Matz is back?

Now seeing that supposedly the Mets were the ones to back out because of a Gomez hip issue.
What a mess. Gotta feel for Flores. Hope he sticks and has a kick ### Mets career. Will root for him wherever - he bled blue and orange last night.

Now let's get cespedes! ( hope not Upton I just don't think he's that good)
Hearing Bruce talks have stalled and they're moving over to Cespedes now.
OOOOOH OOOOOOH OOOOOOOOH.
OOOHHH YEEEAAAAHHHHH

We have to keep this guy no?

Feel better Koya!
My thoughts exactly. He's been everything I had thought, and more. Seems re-energized as a player and really brings the whole game with him. Average, not bad OBP, power, sick arm and good speed. Had we gone Upton, I'd imagine he'd be in such a slump at this point getting booed out of town as we lagged 3 games behind the Nats.

Last three HR's have all come while I was getting pricked for an IV... coincidence????

(Honestly, I hope so)

Put it in the books! You are welcome that my suffering spurred the universe's superstition to swing in our favor.

5 game lead, let's build from it.

Washington is just in a tailspin. How ya feeling today?

Gonna be released?
Much better - but I have a tube inside me draining fluids to a pouch outside and that will be there for a week - ugh.

Hope to be out Monday so can continue recovery at home. Was going to be at Friday's game (coming fri) but that ain't happening

Just got it yesterday - Divirticulitis (hole in the colon). Fun stuff!

Yay 40's!!!

Hope all is well Koya.

Ironic that a Mets fan is having trouble with his Colon

Like my future surgery, we may need to do a little Colon reduction in the near future.

Mets bring back Eric Young for cash from Braves.

Nice little pick up. Probably on the farm til Sept 1, but for the stretch nice to have at least one real SB threat. Even as a pinch runner in a key game, that could mean a game or two in terms of direct impact or strategy.

Raking again tonight.
But also hardly slamming the door. I know it's Coors so you have to give somewhat of a pass, but when you have an 11 run lead, and a number of earlier leads, can't let them have a chance. An 8 run lead with 3-4 innings is like a 5 run lead and that scares me.

Maybe I'm just too scarred from all these years.

You are being very un-Dude like. I knew the Mets would win the whole time.

What are the odds of two straight 14-9 games. Very weird.
Probably better odds than me having attended two 2-1 games won by the Padres in 14 innings over the Mets with one being in New York and the other in San Diego. Note: I have only attended 38 Mets games dating back to 1986.

Just an all around great - and very fun to watch - series.

Made my hospital night well, hospitable.
