cuz the Raiders can't even lose right
I heard on the radio on the drive in that the 9ers are above the Raiders right now due to current strength of schedule, but by the end of the season, if they're still tied, the Raiders SOS is worse so they would therefore have a higher pick. Yeah for us.

Imagine having Aaron Freakin Rodgers, Davante Adams and Aaron Jones and not making the playoffs. That's a solid enough offensive core, with one of the top 5 QBs in the league, and they probably won't make it. Sucks to be them.
Imagine being this close to knocking off the Pats in the AFC Championship game last year, and not only did the offense (kinda predictably) regress, but a mighty mighty defense is now a cake walk for other teams to run and pass on. And, worst of all, you have only one more win this year than the lowly Raiders. That's gotta suck.
I'm grasping at straws here, fellas. Well, there's always my fantasy teams...

The Bears easily won the Mack trade when the trade occurred but now that the Bears first pick continues to move farther away from an early pick, the trade is a complete joke. The Bears organization should be charged for this absolute theft.

Not piling on the Raiders (no room as a 49er fan), but that part of the trade kept getting overlooked, even by the media. It was all about the 2 #1s. If the Bears make the playoffs next year, probably only a 10-12 spot difference in the picks. So a later first next draft and a trade down of around a half round in 2020 for Mack.

Whoo wee mama, getting a little too toxic in here. Of course, it's well-deserved, and I don't know what else I would expect, but despite all reason and evidence I'll still withhold completely writing off this version of the org and its players until after the draft and FA next year.
Don't have a problem taking the lumps as the absolute rock bottom of the league, but would rather look to the future then get so mired in the obvious and by now a little exhausted calls of "Gruden's a moron" and "This team is a joke."
It's one thing to speak the truth. I welcome the slings and arrowns this franchise deserves for this complete and epic bust of a season.
But it's another to keep repeating it ad nauseum. We suck. We get it, it's more than obvious.
But all the chapters of this iteration of the team are only now beginning to be written.

Funny how the media now credits Cooper as one of the best route runners in the league. As a Raider he was a player who had potential but couldn't catch a cold, not one mention of his route running abilities ever. He has one good game (which he has every year.) and the Cowboys now have a steal giving up a 1st rounder for him. Is there anymore media bias against one team than the Raiders? Not that they don't deserve it.

Cooper could run great routes and was given praise before he was drafted through 2016 when he was putting up numbers. He came out as the most-polished WR of his class. But, he did have hands problems at times for the Raiders and looked really unmotivated this season. Cooper is now playing with a chip on his shoulder.
For whatever reason, the Raiders didn't even try to get Cooper involved in 2018. The targets were minimal. Gruden stated that Cooper was open at times but was not targeted.
The Raiders look more stupid as each week passes as Mack, Cooper, Bears and Cowboys have all looked great after the trades. Not sure that the Cowboys got a steal by giving up a first rounder but they sure look smart right now. The Cowboys and Bears will be in the playoffs. The Raiders will be laughed at. Some more.
You're right. Just venting I gues. My frustration level with this dysfunctional organization is at the highest it's ever been and that's saying a lot.

Vent away. That is all that most of us have left with this joke of a team. And, I am right with you. I have been a Raider fan for almost 40 years and I have never felt this level of disgust for the team. I checked out and wasn't much of a fan for some of the 90s but the situation feels different and worse now than even the pitiful years before 2016. My frustration is that the team was rebuilding with good, young players and Gruden shipped off a good WR and great DE.
It has been amazing to watch Cooper's success. He has had mostly good games as a Cowboy and Dak is an average QB. How good can Cooper be?!

Again, I'll wait to see what we get out of the picks and how fast we can turnaround this dumpster fire before claiming how stupid we look. Very much
at this point but it would have been hard to keep Mack and Carr and find solid replacements and pay for them in all other areas of need, and while Cooper has looked solid for the Cowboys (so good to see for his sake), he still isn't first round value. Was interesting to see his hands issues and holding on to the ball, letting it slip onto the carpet for an incompletion/fumble were still there, so let's also not pretend that the limitations Cooper had on the Raiders are no longer issues at all.My biggest fear is that we backed the wrong pony in Carr over Mack. This goes back to your point about why his targets and usage was minimal, in that I am worried Carr no longer has the accuracy and strength on the deep ball to take advantage of a pure WR1.
Time will tell.

The wrong pony may have been Gruden. Forget Mack, Carr and Cooper and look at the offensive scheme and focus particularly on the offensive line. It is shameful that any line with Hudson and Osemele is performing this poorly. And it soeaks to either scouting or coaching (or both) that the LT if the future is a frigging matador thus far. You can put it all in Carr if you want but the reality from my perspective is that Gruden isn't putting these guys in a position to succeed in the first place.
My God! Jason Garrett, Scott Linehan and their high school level offensive scheme are downright balling right now. Without their All Pro center and without their All Pro LT for the last two weeks. They have a rookie and two scrubs mauling people since the coaching change and addition of Amari. They're giving up a ton of pressure but still mauling.
Gruden is being outcoached by Jason Freaking Garrett!
I get that Oakland is in the first year of a rebuild, many would argue a completely unnecessary one, but to perform this poorly, this consistently should have every single Raider fan with their finger over the nuclear button ready to save their time and money and find other, more meaningful pursuits for the next 5-10 years.

I'm with you STC. I have been pretty accepting of the Mack trade all along, but if Carr is released or traded after this year that will make the Mack trade look even worse.

I will never accept the Mack trade. It doesn't matter if Carr stays or goes since there is no team in the near future. We are supposed to believe Gruden is going to replace Mack and Copper in the next 2 drafts while filling all the other holes as well?

You are assuming that those picks are going to be great players and have to be resigned for big money. That would be a great problem to have.

It wouldn't be a "problem" because the Raiders would just trade the player instead of paying them. Who says the NZFL doesn't have a farm system.

That's the thing. You figure you're lucky to even hit on 2 of those 5 but then think we did hit on 2 already. Don't want to harp on the trades but as I start to think of the scenarios, the more the logic of the trades fall apart. Guess there is plenty of information we are not privy to (ldo).
The bright side is that draft day will be fun at least
I get the feeling they're going to screw up these draft picks somehow. I can see Gruden trading back from his top 5 pick to collect more average players while other teams move up and grab the elite prospects.

I feel the same. I'm 47 and been a fan for 40 years. Original season ticket holder and held onto my seats all these years. I've sold the past three games. I tell my friends that I am in a 40 year relationship with the Raiders. I just need some space right now. I'm not breaking up with them or seeing other teams, I just need space.

This is just me thinking out loud but is Cooper's poor play on Gruden or Carr. I'm leaning Towards Carr because Amari had these same struggles last season under Del Rio.

I'm not watching any more Raiders games. It all comes down to the off season with the the draft as the big day for Raider fans.

I am like you Doc. Do not watch, do not care. I have followed this team since 1967, even to the point of flying to LA for games. After they traded Mack I resigned from the club. The team has (possibly) one lame duck season in Oaktown then they are Vegas' problem. My interest with the team now stems from a fantasy perspective only. Win lose or draw I do not give a rat's a$$.
