CC/Verlander should be nice to watch...who has the edge? I think the fatman will be deterred by the cooler weather...

A tad chilly and cloudy today with the possibility of showers, but they'll be spotty. High should be in the low 50s here in STL.

I remember from playing ball as a kid how crappy it was to play in the cold. Granted, it's super warm and humid down here in FL now but I know the northeast is getting hit hard with cold temperatures. I would think that this plays into the pitchers, no?

Happy New Year everyone!!!!

Working a full day, but leaving at lunch tomorrow to catch the AL Champion Texas Rangers host the Boston Red Sox. It does not get any better than that.

A's start tomorrow, so no reason to take today off. Normally I would.

Trying to become somewhat of a Brewers fan since I live in Wisconsin, so will keep my eye on that game. Just can't get excited about them.

Nice of DirecTV/YES to let us know that the channel will most likely be blacked out starting tomorrow, by having an annoying banner on the bottom of the screen. ###holes.

Chipper with the first hit of the year. Hated him as an Astros fan in the late 90's (yes, I can't find a permanent team to cheer for), but good to see him back. He should retire on his terms.

And with the first run scored. I didn't think there was any chance that he was coming back after tearing an ACL that late in the season last year. He had a good spring though. I hope the Braves are smart enough to give him plenty of days off throughout the season. The guy is the embodiment of what it meant to be an Atlanta Brave for the last 20 years.

Proud owner of Heyward and Weeks going into our draft on Saturday.

Edinson Volquez may never get out of the first.

Derek Lowe looked great today. Great movement and putting the ball exactly where he wanted it.

Watching him and Livan pitch makes for a pretty entertaining game.

I've sat in miserable weather like this at the old Yankee Stadium. Not a Yankee fan hater and the public seats in the uppers look pretty full, but rich Yankee fan didn't go today. Playoffs and opening day, you always brave the elements.

They're there. Sitting in the cozy restaurants eating steak and lobster instead of sitting in their seats.

Same as its been since they opened the stadium. Seats are way too expensive

this too. The seats were nearly full at the beginning of the game and thinned out

Today was the third consecutive Opening Day that Granderson has homered. Gota wonder if the Tigers regret trading Granderson, he was always a fan favorite in detroit.

3 way trade that worked out for all teams.Yankees got Granderson who I love and is a really good player. He also made two phenomenal plays in CF today.Tigers got Jackson & Scherzer. Jackson has potential & Scherzer looks like a stud.DBacks got Kennedy & Jackson. Kennedy is a solid pitcher & Jackson had a very good year last year and they ended up trading him for Hudson who looks like a stud.

Headed up to watch the giants and dodgers. VERY excited. 85degrees, not a cloud in the sky :excited:
Jealous. Have fun.
Fun game. Fernando threw out the first pitch, placido Domingo sang the national anthem and there was a sweet fly over by a stealth bomber. Great pitching duel. Kershaw looked great, just slightly better than lincy today. Love the passion of the rivalry. First sporting event I have attended as an adult that I didn't have an adult beverage or 2. F'ing lent. A cold beer would made it perfect. :banned:
