If Green Bay wants a chance against these rushing QBs, they need to dump Capers and get somebody in there that isn't a relic. NFL has changed.
Is the rushing QB a real change, or something that joins the Wildcat in the last pages of the playbook? And, if it's here to stay, how many of those guys are around? Considering that this nation of 330 million cannot produce 32 starting-caliber QB's at the same time.
Its more complicated than that. NFL teams run different schemes. Some guys may only fit certain schemes, and they get put in the wrong ones when they reach the NFL. Other QBs may need extra time to develop, like 5-6 years, and impatience causes them to bust. Other get wiped out by injuries. Also, some coaches are just dumb, promoted and kept around because of who they know, and they fail to develop players. Some owners are dumb, and keep firing coaching staffs every 2-3 years and no system is ever in place long enough for anything to develop.

Great question. I myself want to see statistics that support the theory that the NFL has changed into a rushing QB league. I remember hearing this argument with Fran Tarkenton in the 70's, Steve Young in the 80's, Randall Cunningham in the 90's, and Duante Culpepper in the 00's. But the only thing I know for sure that HAS changed over that time is QB's are throwing the ball much much more today.I think what has changed is that we have a lot more young QB's starting in the NFL, and that these guys are the ones more likely to run the ball, especially early on in their career. As a side bar, I think you'll be seeing RG3 change his game next season - he simply won't last if he keeps running the ball like he does. But I don't know if the current young QB's are "revolutionizing the game". There's still a few pocket QB's out there, guys named Brady, Manning, Ryan... Heck, even Aron Rodgers is turning into a pocket QB.

Will be interesting to see how long the zone read stuff does last in the NFL.Its extremely effective when you don't see it much...but how long before the better defensive coordinators figure it out and scheme better against it?
I think it's here to stay. I don't think scheming will change anything because these are QBs that can pass, have a grasp on the entire playbook and also run the ball. Imagine If Tom brady had 4.4 speed. How do you scheme against that? Imagine you were Clay Matthews in last night's game. When you see kaepernick take the snap and start the zone/read to the back, what do you do? You crash in at the back and you risk the QB keeper to the outside. You rush up the field, and you vacate an area that the RB or QB can run through. You stay at home and play contain, and if the play is a pass, there's no longer a pass rush. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

No doubt Moss is going to have to step up. Lots of attention will be on Crab this weekend. I just hope Kaep has learned how to get it to him on the deep routes. So many times, the ball was not put in the right place for Moss to make a play on it.Am I the only one that thinks Harbaugh emphasized Kaep to stay in the pocket more over these last few games rather than tuck and run with a master plan to unleash his feet this weekend? Just a hunch but I'm thinking Kaep finishes the day with close to 100 on the ground and maybe 1 rushing TD.
:unsure:I was happily off on the rushing and TD total, but I'll take it! :excited: The stick was rocking tonight... I have no more voice :banned:
:goodposting: incredible atmosphere tonight :banned:
