So, what's the consensus "best song" off this album so far? I'm going with Army Reserve. Honorable Mention goes to WWS and Severed Hand.

I'm serious, this album has taken absolutely no time to grow on me. The only cut that doesn't work for me is Parachutes. But, even that is better than anything that was on Riot Act.

This is a great album.

Army Reserve is my favorite track right now. Severed Hand and Marker in the Sand appear to be the most popular tracks on PJ boards. Agree that Parachutes is the weakest song (but still not bad).

Great ####### album

Am I the only one wishing the Life Wasted Reprise was longer?  The normal version is great, but the reprise leaves me wanting more.  Hopefully, that'll be the case live.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
i think the same thing every time i listen to it.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yep.Like I said....Wasted Reprise (extended) ---> Life Wasted opener.

I'm also thinking, along with Severed Hand, that Inside Job would be a great opener.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I think Come Back could be a good set ender or even show closer--especially if Eddie draws the "ohs" at the end of song, a la Black.

No doubt. Great Letterman performance. I wish they'd get that webcast up soon.

I love Pearl Jam and all, but I don't feel like this is by far better than any other recent albums of theirs.

On Tues. I bought 10,000 Days and Prairie Wind (don't know why it took me so long to get that) and I think that Pearl Jam is the 3rd best album that I bought.

Listened to the album on my Yahoo Unlimited subscription service. I just don't dig the faster tracks very much. I don't view Pearl Jam as a band that writes great riffs (though there were some good ones in the early days), and as such, their harder songs kind of bore me. That said, the latter half of the album is money. Interested to see how it grows on me.

been streaming this from the WTEM website for the last two days. army reserve is the clubhouse leader. inside job strong too

I am amazed at the amount of publicity their new CD has received. I don't remember nearly this amount of exposure for their last few CDs. I guess the new record company actually does a good job with marketing.

this is, in my opinion only behind Ten in terms of sheer music quality.

i am so pumped to see them tomorrow!

and here is my song rankings...

1. Marker in the Sand

2. Come Back

The first time I heard the reprise intro I thought it was What Happened Yesterday from Mirrorball until Eddie started singing.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The opening to Inside Job reminds me of Neil Young's music.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Ya, I think there is alot of NY sound on this one, especially from Mccready.

I'm kinda biased towards all their albums (they are all good in so many different ways), but I think Riot Act is the weakest of all. Of the three newest, Binaural is just a step below the new one. What songs off of Riot Act would make the cut on the new disc and what would they replace? I could see Can't Keep and Thumbing My Way sliding onto this disc (maybe Save You), just not many others, and not sure what would come off the new one.

I Am Mine, and Love Boat Captain I think would also make the cut, but I agree with you 100% on the above.

My current PJ album rankings (not including Pearl Jam b/c that's #1 right now b/c it's so new)

1. No Code

2. Ten

3. Versus

4. Yield

5. Vitalogy

6. Binaural

7. Riot Act

This is not to say Riot Act is a bad album, just my least favorite PJ album right now

:bag: Right after Yield. I hestitated to put it lower. Vitalogy is a weird album for me...there are a couple songs I love - Last Exit, Satan's Bed, & Better Man...but all of the others are just good PJ songs but they don't really wow me.It's funny, b/c when you love all of the albums from your favorite artist, I start to judge the albums by how many songs blow me away.

I hear ya.Right now:

1. Vitalogy

2. Ten

3. Versus (sometimes this is #1, it's just amazing)

4. No Code (Present Tense, In My Tree, Off He Goes, Hail Hail, and Sometimes carry the disc to this spot, but the lack of good rockers keep it from going higher)

5/6. Yield (toss up with Binaural)

6/5. Binaural

7. Riot Act

1. Ten

2. Vs.

3. Yield

4. Pearl Jam

5. No Code

6. Vitalogy

7. Binaural

8. Riot Act

Although #3 and #4 are very likely to switch.

1. Ten

2. No Code

3. Vs.

4. Vitalogy

5. Yield

6. Riot Act

7. Binaural

Pearl Jam will probably slide anywhere between slots 2-4, but my "favorite" album (and song for that matter) change quite frequently, primarily because their music is so important to me and because I listen to it so much.

As TF said, I don't think my least favorite PJ album is bad by any means--I would take any of their albums ten-fold over any other artist.

Don't think anyone will knock No Code out of the #1 spot for me as I think it provides the best overall songs when played live (Present Tense, Who You Are, In My Tree, Red Mosquito)

I have listened to it quite a few times as well. I must be in the minority that actually likes Parachutes.

Smile is the song that puts No Code ahead of Vs. for me--I was at Greensboro in 2000 and they ended the show with it--great song.

Simmmma daaaawn naaaaaaaaaaaaaa

i was there tonight, what a F'n show.

the place was ROCKING.

the set list posted above is correct, lots of new stuff mixed in with some classics, and a great, great closing of RITFW and my favorite - Yellow Ledbetter.

someone earlier in the thread mentioned something about "Come Back" being a great closing song - the way it was done tonight this song has CLASSIC written all over it, simply amazing.

Eddie was fairly interactive with the crowd, dissing American Immigration prior to "Unemployable" and relaying the fact that we were hearing their first live performance of Inside Job ever (it was very good).

in terms of crowd noise, it was typical pearl jam, the place was nuts, i got high off the fumes! highest crowd reaction was to "Betterman, Alive and Yellow Ledbetter" i got the feeling a lot of people didnt hear much of the new album but every track they played off of it was done well -- especially Come Back and WWS. I was a tad dissapointed at the way Marker in the Sand was done, I adore the song but it didnt sound as great as i had hoped.

overall it was an amazing experience, i had an obubstructed view as i was in the first row of the first section (couldnt nab floors unfortunatley). the set list was awesome and it was a great performance.

No, but seriously. It's like you went to the Grand Canyon and gave us pictures of the mule you rode around on. But, thanks for the story. Sounds like you had a great time wearing that tee-shirt.

show re-caps are not allowed in a tour thread?

please.

look the pictures are labeled. if you dont want to look at the pictures don't, no need to be rude about it.

thanks.

Alright, so since you can't figure this out on your own, let me spell it out for you:How about you kindly post some pictures of the show...of the set...of Eddie Vedder belting out Alive for chrissakes?

Or, do you have more pictures of the cross-street signs 1/2 mile away from the Air Canada Centre you'd like to show us?

Thanks.

unfortunatley the quality of the video i took is not good enough to post (camera phone) or it would already be up.

since you are being so classy i will take down the pictures and remind myself that not everyone around here is as big of a #### as you.

Well, thanks for contributing, anyway. I'll be going to the show this weekend in Hartford. I'll make sure I score some photos of a fire hydrant near the venue. If lucky, I'll even try to lay down a photo shoot of the traffic passing by.

self appointed post police?

anyway this is childish and cluttering up the thread.

good night
