***Official Pearl Jam Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Just got this email from 10 club

Happy New Year!

We're all really excited about 2008 and we really hope you are, too. While it's still too early to make any big announcements, we want to let you all know that the band is looking forward to a busy year ...

In the meantime, we wanted to let you know about a special opportunity to purchase a VERY limited edition of Eddie Vedder's "Into the Wild" on vinyl. The vinyl pre-sale starts January 14th at 10am Pacific only at http://www.tenclub.net.com, and the limited stock is available only while supplies last. Visit http://www.tenclub.net/news to read more about it!

Remember, you can also check out Eddie's video of "Guaranteed" from "Into the Wild" at http://www.vh1.com.

Cheers, Ten Club Staff.
Assume the bolded means album or tour :tfp: :bag:
Got this too. Sure hope it's a tour!!!

From the Golden Globes tonight...

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder won the prize for best original song in a movie for "Guaranteed," featured in director Sean Penn's road drama "Into the Wild."

I listen to this a lot (just finished the book as well). I read somewhere that two of the songs on that album are covers - do you know which they are?

how was the book?
I didn't know much at all about the story going in so I was intrigued what the book would entail. It wasn't awful, a little disjointed and I was disappointed they didn't put any of the pictures McClandless took in the book (there is one on the first page and thats it).

It's definitely worth a read, IMO...Probably one of the 5 books that had the greatest impact on me in my life...I first read it when it came out, when I was 19, and it really spoke to me...The whole middle class white kid feeling a bit restrained by his life; the whole romanticized excitement and adventure of Chris McCandless's story...I really loved it...I read it about once a year, and still get a lot from it....

Have you read anything else by the author? Into Thin Air sounded pretty good.

Into This Air is a very good read also...Amazing story, and he was actually on the expedition, so you get a true first person account...I have Under the Banner of Heaven at home but haven't gotten around to it yet

Great book, IMHO. I think he does a very good job telling the story about the Mormon religion but not blaming the Mormon religion in whole, but all religion that steps over those lines.

Reading it at 28, it definitely reads different then had I looked at it 10 years earlier. I enjoyed the narrative - it's a different twist when you know the end game going in (and its already summarzied in the first chapter and forward).

 Cool...

Might have to move it to the top of the pile...

That's a good point...I wonder how my reaction might have been different had I picked it up for the first time today...

;)

I was hoping tonight's news would be about a tour rather than just this. While I'm only 3-4 hours away from Bonnaroo, it will also be 2-3 weeks after our baby girl is born. So no go.

:bye:

Another year with no shows in the South, and I'm gonna be pissed.

I would have to think they are going to do some type of warm up shows to prep for this...not going to do a festival of that size cold. Sorry for being a greedy slob, but hope they do them on the East Coast

Regarding Bonnaroo, whose got an RV and is looking for passengers?

My one friend here in town says he's going for sure. He also said he was seeing daily tickets outside of Lolla going for $25, so he probably won't even purchase anything till he gets down there. Not sure how how wise that is, but whatever.

:torn:

Not sure if you all saw this.

Sonics Fans First to Know Pearl Jam's Prepping New Album

So the Sonics won last night. Kevin Durant scored a bunch of points and stuff. The biggest highlight, though, came from the seats, when Pearl Jam bassist—and die hard Sonics fan—Jeff Ament donned a headset for a chat with announcer Kevin Calabro.

Jeff commented on Durant's talent, voiced opposition to the Sonics' possible departure, and said our recent snow (quality) was stellar. Regarding his band, Jeff told Calabro, "We're gonna get together here in a couple of weeks and try and write some stuff."

And then the little ball bounced around, people talked about the absence of LeBron James, and Pearl Jam fans freaked out.

Hat tip to Billboard's Jaded Insider, who adds this anticipation-fueling nugget:

"Beyond the upcoming writing session, J.I. is in the know that Pearl Jam is going to play some shows before too long. One appearance may even be ready to announce as early as next week."

Much to Jeff Ament's chagrin, PJ may play live before the Sonics pick up their 12th win. And release a new album before the team knows where they're playing next season.
The announce next week show has to be Bonaroo, but he was also plural in his first statement. As somebody mentioned a few posts back, some warm up shows seem inevitable.

Trying to decide if it's worth $1000 and a 10-hour drive for my brother, GF, and me to pile into the car and head up there to tent for 3-4 days. :bag:

rumors on the pj board are that they will definitely playing multiple shows throughout the summer. A guy who "talked to Mike" said they're confirmed for Austin City Limits.

Obviously just rumors, but I wanted to post so people don't go out of their way to buy bonarroo tix on the first day and they some more PJ shows get announced close to home. Chances are you can pick up bonaroo tix on the day of the show anyway

Yeah, I'd much rather hit ACL than Bonnaroo, having never been to Austin...I think I am going to wait and see what else comes up...Would love a NYC show

How about letting those of us who live in heavily populated states Pearl Jam hasn't visited in 3 1/2 years get a show first, you selfish *******. :hot:

Vote Blue and you might have a shot... :hot: Seriously, would make sense that they do some shows down there in prep for Bonnaroo, but, still, would love some shows to be in the tri-state area. There are rumors for NYC/Philly area, but not sure of the validity, as previously mentioned.

Yeah, rumors flying all over the place...I do wish they'd just make an announcement already...They always seem to do things half-assed/in parts and leave us with partial info to make travel plans, etc...

What was the deal back in 2004 with MoveOnOrg shows? I can't seem to recall the specifics. Was PJ just doing that to combat Bush's re-election? Or is there potential again for something like this in the election year? That Toledo show was top notch.

Yeah, it was a series of concerts in battleground states in conjunction with moveon.org that were anti GWB...Didn't have any effect poliically, but there were some choice shows there...I doubt we'd get a tour that politically specific again, but maybe a couple of shows here and there, especially if Obama is the dem nom

Hmmmm, vote for Barack?Cameron helps record song titled "Fired up, Ready to Go" written to support the Barack Obama 2008 Presidential Campaign.Stone puts "Rock Around Barack" up on his myspace page (like "Rock Around the Clock"). All of PJ here except for Vedder...Stone on vocals. :censored:

The Toledo show was the one that Neil showed up to, right? That truly must have been awesome. Caught the show in Reading, which was great. Caught a t-shirt Jeff threw from the stage with a picture of Bush/Cheney and the words "Presumptive Strike" below them. Was pretty cool.Getting itchy for an announcement, but looks like a good summer of shows ahead. Radiohead and PJ would be some icing on the cake, though.

Correct, and it was awesome.I actually still don't have the audio, if anyone has it let me know. I have a video that is decent quality, bumps around alot, one of the only non official release vids I have.

Frampton too. Went to this one...what a show. In a small hockey rink. Most vivid memory was Neil, Mike and Peter going off together.
