What will this do to the value of Stevie Johnson?

Evans- to Ravens

Sirius NFL is reporting Evans traded for a 4th round pick

From Rotoworld:

Ravens acquired WR Lee Evans from the Bills in exchange for undisclosed considerations.

It's an ideal fit for player and team. Evans was an overpaid No. 2 behind Steve Johnson in an offense ill-suited to his strengths as a vertical field-stretcher. The Ravens drafted Torrey Smith to fill that role, but the second-rounder proved to be not ready for prime time in Thursday's preseason opener. It's fair to wonder if Evans has lost a step coming off an average of 595 yards the past two years while entering his age-30 season. He's a worthwhile gamble, though, as Joe Flacco's big arm is the perfect match for his talents. Evans is back on the fantasy radar as a boom-or-bust WR3

The Vikings might make sense too. They could use a deep threat to open things up for Harvin. Also, they are an NFC team so he would go out of conference.

they should have done this at the draft. good player but he's a poor fit for this team/offense and would likely do much better elsewhere.

those 40 catches aren't really worth $10 million/year.

David Nelson seems like an interesting candidate to replace him.

It's obvious he's going to the Eagles ;)

Whatever...he's been a tease for years now. He can be a nice #2 for someone.

Agreed, but he's still more valuable to the Bills than a 5th round pick. Especially since his teammates like him and may be upset with a trade this late.

for a 5th, why bother? That's a step above a UDFA. They must just want to clear salary.

FWIW, I think he'd be a good fit on any team with a strong-armed QB (and good line).

Edwards and Fitz do not have the arm (or time in the pocket) to take advantage of his ability. Also, Fitz does not really seem to like throwing outside much. Most of Stevie Johnson's damage last year seemed to come after the catch or over the middle on intermediate type routes.

Evans is miscast as a #1 but could be a very good #2/deep threat when paired up with a legit #1. I do think moving him would hurt Stevie Johnson's production as Evans helped stretch the defenses and open things up.

But this team is better off struggling another year and taking their chance at the Andrew Luck lottery anyway.

Stevie Johnson gets 3 games vs Revis and Asomugha!
In the two games against the Jets S. Johnson averaged: 4 rec /69 yds / 0.5 TDPPR: 13.9Not bad at all considering his avg per game over the season was: 5.25 rec / 67 yds / 0.625 TD
:lmao: Revis missed both Bills games
Even so, they had one of the toughest schedules in 2010, AFC East twice, NFC North and AFC North and he averaged 15.5 pts a game.

None of those teams had Revis or Asomugha. That was my only point. He'll be worthless for 3 games.

This is an extremely underrated wr, who never was in a position to succeed. Team has been horrible, qb has been horrible, o line has been horrible. I would have loved to see this guy in a better situation, I think he is very talented.

Agreed. If I was an Evans owner I'd be praying he goes somewhere good. Arizona would be ideal with Fitz letting him be the deep threat he's meant to be and Kolb chucking him the ball. 1000yds and 10TDs are very reasonable if he ends up there.

I don't know. I thought that for a while but I think he's a one trick pony. Good Wr's rise to the top regardless.

I was reading somewhere that Evans was drawing the double teams most of last season even with Stevies breakout. Anyone watch most of the Bills games to confirm this, if so Johnson may be in some trouble.

it certainly won't help.

the speed guy/deep threat always gets more attention because he can score in one play. Johnson came out of nowhere last year so I'm not sure how seriously other teams took him, especially during the first half of the season.

Stevie Johnson had no problem succeeding last yr

I guess ive exhausted every way to disagree with you except for me to say it. I definitely disagree with you.

Don't ever argue with a Revis fan. :lmao:

From tonight's podcast:

"Lee Evans rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again."

(aww, no images on this forum? That sucks)

Cleveland. Their best receiver might be Greg Little and he had trouble catching a cold early in camp.

Really? Think Evans would look good running the WCO with another below average armed QB? Guys like Mason and Cotchery could have fit perfectly but it doesn't seem like Evans would do much better there than he did in Buffalo the past few years.

I guess they don't have as much confidence in their rookies as they said. Bump for Boldin I would think.

 I hate the ####in Jets

So what does Baltimore do to Evans' value? He had none before the move, now what does his production look like?

This kind of trade will have some interesting fantasy effects on both parties involved. This is why you draft late.
Don't get the early drafters started. It obviously takes more skill (and not luck) to draft players before any movement has taken place. :sarcasm: This is pretty interesting news, though. I thought with Gailey's offense that Evans would have a comeback year last year. That didn't work but I still had hope for this year. Not sure about Baltimore. I still think he's a talented guy, but not sure what to make of the Baltimore offense. He's a very different player than Mason. With Heap and Mason gone will Evans and Dickson step right in and produce? Flacco is probably good for about 3600 yds.

I may be underestimating here, but really I don't think this move really matters for Steve Johnson at all. I'm not changing his ranking. Obviously it hurts the short-term upside of the Ravens rookies, which makes me kinda hate the move as I think Torrey Smith has some serious upside.

I'd say maybe a minor downgrade for Fitzpatrick and a minor upgrade for Flacco. Boldin probably stays about the same, though maybe he moves down ever so slighly.

As for Evans himself, his value goes up slightly, but really he's still nothing more than a WR4, and I think its very possible he gets passed by either Smith or Doss at some point during the season.
