So, as Philly fans....who do you guys want in the playoffs?
Thats pretty much how I would have expected. Nobody wants any part of the Rockies. Please See Mine said:I'd say1) Padres - Obviously running out of steam and have so little offense, the Phillies would definitely outscore. Phillies always do well in Petco too.2) Reds - Don't think the Reds' starters are good enough to stop the Phils' offense in a series.3) Braves - More of a balanced team, but I think that they are too young. Like the Phillies in 07.4) Giants - Good pitching and they play the Phillies tough, though I do think that our starters can stop their lineup5) Rockies - Hottest team out there and always seem to be dangerous. If Ubaldo is on, could be a real problem in a 5-game series.
Yeah, Boo Hoo indeed. Somebody needs to tell him that Ryan Howard has more career HRs on the road than home.http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...r&t=b#hmvishttp://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/Roy-Hal...a-Braves-091910
FINAL WORD
"When they built that damn ballpark, we didn't have a prayer. They started printing money and hitting shorter home runs,’’ Atlanta president John Schuerholz on the emergence of the Phillies as an NL East power coinciding with the team’s move into Citizens Bank Park.
Boo Hoo John, you whining tool bag!!! Get ready for a sweep!!!!
Beachy , a 24-year-old right-hander, climbed from obscurity into the prospect rankings after a breakthrough season in the minors in 2010. He went 5-1 with a minor league-leading 1.75 ERA in 35 games (13 starts), and a eye-opening 148 strikeouts and only 28 walks in 119-1/3 innings. He spent much of the season at Double-A Mississippi, where he soared after moving from the bullpen to the rotation. He finished at Triple-A Gwinnett, where he was 2-0 with a 2.17 ERA in eight games (seven starts), with 48 strikeouts and eight walks in 45-2/3 innings. He features a 92-94 mph fastball complemented by a good changeup and curveball. It’s been a rapid ascent for Beachy, who signed with the Braves as a non-drafted free agent two years ago out of Indiana Wesleyan. He showed no signs of an imminent rise in 2009, when he pitched at three levels in the minors and had a 3.87 ERA with 64 strikeouts in 76-2/3 innings.

pretty much a no-brainer. won't need to use a 4th starter in the first series. Plus Halladay will get a nice break before his first postseason start and won't have to go on 3 days in the first round and will go on regular rest for game 1 of the NLCS, so if he needs to go on 3 days in the NLCS or WS, it shouldn't be much of an issue.Even if the NLDS goes 5, then Joe can just pitch game 4 (unless they are down going into it) so the NLDS would go Halladay, Oswalt, Hamels, Blanton, Halladay, Oswalt, Hamels all on regular rest. Then it will set up for games 1, 2 and 3 of the WS to be Halladay, Oswalt and Hamels in the first 3 games on regular rest. However, it looks like Blanton will probably have to pitch a game in the WS too because otherwise Hamels would have to pitch on 3 days rest at some point and we know that won't work. They chose the A series for the playoffs. :whoosh:
I agree. We all knew they were taking it but I think it's now official. Let's not start talking about WS rotationspretty much a no-brainer. won't need to use a 4th starter in the first series. oh please. it is pretty much impossible for me to see them not getting to the WS.belljr said:I agree. We all knew they were taking it but I think it's now official. GO PHILS!!!!
The only way I could envision it is if they have to play the Giants in the wildcard round. A 1-2 of Lincecum and Cain could steal a short series against the Phils. It looks like the Giants will win their division but they may end up with a worse record than the Reds. In that instance, the Phils would have to play the Giants (assuming the Braves get the wildcard) and really the only legitimate NL threat to a 3-peat. In a 7 game series, I don't think the Giants can hang.oh please. it is pretty much impossible for me to see them not getting to the WS.belljr said:I agree. i think that was the answer. it's in the braves or reds thread.actually it has a thread of its own. http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index...howtopic=559820Question about a three way tie...
If by chance the Friars sweep the Giants and tie for the division, and the Braves win one game against us, that will leave all three teams with identical records. What happens in a 3 way tie?
Division deciding game Monday between the Padres and Giants then the loser plays the Braves on Tuesday for the wildcard?
