*** OFFICIAL *** rap super group draft (1 Viewer)

*I'm going to draft b/c I have a feeling Jabroni will timeout again and I'll be away from the cpu for a while.

6.09 - Grand Puba

Great voice and flow. Classic Brand Nubian material plus some quality solo efforts. I think this dude will fit in nicely with any group - his cameos have always been on point and I needed someone to lighten up the mood.

Plus I want my Girbauds and Hilfiger tops to come back in :style:
All for one and one for all!Erick Sermon in the 7th is a steal!

I don’t care if I’m name dropping cuz everyone knows he’s out there (and if anybody gets pissed, I'll get over it) but, out of curiosity what’s the take on Lil Wayne and why has he not been picked yet?Too much of a sell out? Too mainstream? Voice and persona doesn’t jive with any of your groups? Just not a good lyricist?Still :lmao: at Mike Shinoda.
He's horrible. Not E40 bad. But he's horrible.
Cmon man, look at your team. They are all in the same zip code. You've ripped every WC pick. No cred.
Ripped every WC pick? Nope. Just E40. He's just horrible. Loved the Xzibit pick, had Tash on my radar, as well as Alchemist. Same Zip Code? Jay-Z - Brooklyn, NY9th Wonder - Durham, NCBlack Thought - Philadelphia, PASean Price - Brooklyn, NYJoell Ortiz - Brooklyn, NYBuckwild - The Bronx, NYMary J. Blige - Yonkers, NYPhonte - Durham, NCLot of Brooklyn love, but then again the best MC's come from the BK, in my opinion.

I'm still way back catching up reading. Thread of the year. I disagree with most of the East Coast guys, but its just a great thread and i've heard some new stuff.

way more west coast guys than I expected to take. might not gel that well together but that's a lot of talent with quite a few different styles.

No worries, man. I'm heavily influences by where I'm from. I just love that 90's NY sound. Even my producer, 9th, has that 90's vibe to his stuff. I love a lot of hip hop from everywhere. Been a Liks fan since day one, love Hiero ('93 til Infinity is one my top songs EVER), Cypress Hill was part my HS soundtrack including the early Snoop and Dre stuff. But the thread was to create my supergroup. Had to be the people I could listen to for days on end.

Some solid talent here. Same zip code?

Point of clarification: is it a requirement to choose a "West Coast guy" or is that just the individual drafter's choice to try to diversify their roster? Not a coastal snob, just hadn't thought in that regards and realized I didn't have anyone from the west on my roster. Noticed a couple people mention losing their "West Coast MC" today.
Some drafters trying to score points with the West Coast peanut gallery IMO.
:bowtie:

Really loved doing this. I could talk about hip-hop all day and never get tired.
:goodposting:
Me too.

X 100000000I can tell you guys are from NY/NJ. You guys are dropping serious names i've never heard of, but I went back to school a few years ago and dont have the money to buy the vinyl i used to. That is going to change soon. Most of the new stuff i've been getting into lately if from the West Coast. I'm sure you guys know the usual suspects like People Under the Stairs and Lifesavas, but do you know:Giant PandaFeltLanguage Arts CrewJunk ScienceThe Prime MeridianBlue ScholarsRhymefestCodename : ScorpionCommon MarketAgain, all of these guys might not be WC, but I'd think they were. One guy guy from NY I have discovered is A+. Anyone else heard of this guy?

Now for the list you've all been waiting for. Top 5 Wu affiliates:1) Holocaust. I've never heard a guy rap like this, ever. Crazy mix of hardcore street, horror core and sci fi. His imagery is ridiculous "spittin darts from the tip of a glacier used as my hideout/rock crusher german suplex while spines slide out". PCP ate his brain up and he is easily the top 5 weirdest/corniest rapper ever now. I read something funny RZA said about him during the transition from Holocaust to Warcloud.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss5hdsvI2x4#t=03m10shttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u33sSMvsx4chttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWR3Zhw4S2wHe basically just rambles on these days in a weird voice.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg1QXXOIync&2) Street Life aka Inspectah Deck, Jr. His lead off verse on Grid Iron Rap was very Rebel INS like. Rarely heard a verse by him that I didn't like.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLIECFMdqhohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kW9N1mU5YhAhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r64WPiUNBSo#t=00m52s3) Killa Sin from Killarmy The rest of Killarmy was terrible on the first LP, with 9th Prince (RZA's brother) standing out as particularly bad. It was a bunch of guys who thought it was a race between his rhymes and the beat with no regard for flow or delivery. Killa Sin really stood out. Anytime I listen to that LP I pretty much just wait for his verse then skip to the next song. 2nd Killarmy LP, Dom Pachino stepped his game up so there were 2 MCs worth listening to, plus two cameos from Holocaust.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg3vh52bGJEt=02m10shttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qoi3yPJq_k#t=00m44shttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6Td-riVsa8#t=02m20s4) Timbo King5) Killah PriestDepending on my mood, I could switch 4 and 5.
No La the Darkman?

Forgot about this. I'll take MC REn as my sexy flexi if he's still available (looks to be).

Here is my final roster. Very old school but I like how the puzzle pieces fit together.

Producers:

Dr Dre

Eric B

MCs

Kurupt

Easy E

Eric Sermon

LL Cool J

Krazy Drayz

MC Ren

The younger drafters might not have ever heard this, but it's a neat tune in the DJ Jazzy Jeff mold.

I met him a few years ago in Guildford, U.K. at a charity thing where he was a guest. I was talking to him about American football and he mentioned that he was a record producer and rapper and his music was known in the states. When he said Derek B I laughed, Goodgrove was definitely a favorite of mine. He died last year, rip British rapper guy who spoke to me at a benefit.

This turned out to be a fun group.

Speaking of A+, who was the best child rapper? that was a definitely a trend for a while. I have Chi Ali, Shyheim, Jamal, Malik, A+ up there.... and don't forget my boy 2 Low representing Houston. Just pulled up this duet he did w/ Scarface:

. Not a fan of the remix but the video is :lmao: :gangsta:

Chi Ali. Not even close.

A little surprised Son Doobie didn't get drafted. I always loved his flow and the dude dropped crazy knowledge. I liken him to a West Coast KRS:

I'm iller than a porno I got skills like Zorro

Who's Perry Como? Tomorrow tomorrow

Like Ophan Annie yo it's the uncanny

Doobie with bonified funk for your fanny

Suckers, I pick 'em, so who be my victim

BLRRLL stick 'em, and boogers, I flick 'em

I'm guilty your honor, I rock like Nirvana

So f*** a piranha, just like Jefferry Dahmer

The Funkiest

Easily the best rapper to be featured on America's Most Wanted.

Did IceT ever go? Not a fan, but the guy was my other WC Icon that was undrafted forever. shocked Run and DMC got no love. another EC guy I liked was SchoolyD.Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow go undrafted? My flex would have been George Clinton, everybody stole his pfunk. I really like the Damian Marley call too, that was the best album (Nas and Damian) I've heard in the last few years.Doug E Fresh would be my Producer just cause he IS the Human Beatbox! Loved going to his concerts with Slick Rick back in the day!King Britt should get some consideration, Digable Planets was real different in the day when everybody was either pfunk or gangsta rap (or both). The locals I'd consider would be Shock G, Paris, Black Chris, Mr. C, Dre Dogg (Andre Nickatina), and Ant Banks.I'd go

IceTAnt BanksAndre NickatinaKurtis BlowDMCSchoolyDDoug E FreshAfrikaa BambaataaGeorge ClintonDamian Marley

Biggie drafted before Tupac? What a joke. Biggie had like two good songs. The rest is just a fat guy who can barely catch his breath.
