**** OFFICIAL ROCKY BALBOA THREAD **** (1 Viewer)

Outstanding movie.

I took my three kids to see it.

The two sons (8 and 10) have seen Rocky, Rocky 3 and Rocky 4.

My daughter has never seen any Rocky flick.

They all liked it.

It really is a nice closure to the movie series - kind of brings everything full circle.

Talia Shire was interviewed in the USA Today on Christmas - and they asked her what she thought about being 'killed off', whether or not she'd see the movie, etc. I nice little ditty by USA Today:

Wife and I saw it last night and we both loved it.

This sequal is much more like the original and really brings closure to the story. I liked the action of III and IV, but this movie wasn't about the action. It worked very well. I don't know how he did it, but he really captured the 'feeling' of Rocky.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to watch the original before this, just for a refresher. Lots of references.

Saw it this afternoon -- Stallone got it right. Very nicely done. It seemed a very fitting close for a great character.

Just got back from seeing it tonight, and being a huge fan of the entire series, I can say I was very happy with this film. Great way to write off his character, he did it the right way. :goodposting:

2

I thought it was outstanding. Sly really did a fantastic job actually acting in this flick.

My thoughts:

The music was superb as always. Quite a few "goosebump" moments.

It was cool to see Paulie get a little love in this flick. I thought he added to the story very well, rather than being the whipping boy. "What am I? A freakin' Indian?... :blackdot:

The training set-up was great too. "You're not fast enough." "You're too slow to dance around the ring." "You have to hurt this man. When you hit em' you have to make him feel like he's blowing kisses at a freight train." ;)

I loved it. Absolutely loved it.

:lmao: Seriously, my wife and I were still laughing at this about 10 mins. after we left the theater. He had some great lines :ptts:

Awesome movie and a perfect ending to the series. I was like **** Vermiel at a press conference a few times  :lmao:

I just saw this, and I agree, it was very good. I was pretty pessimistic when I heard he had done a 6th Rocky movie, but it turned out probably as well as it could have. And thank God the series will now end on a high note, rather than V being the end.

Just saw Rocky Balboa -

Being born in 1971 I grew up with the Rocky franchise. I enjoyed II and III - but really didn't like the campy IV and V.

As I grow older I seem to gravitate away from the unrealistic fight scenes and more towards the story lines. Nothing beats the original story of Rocky - watch it on DVD once a year.

Rocky Balboa shows respect to the roots of the franchise and gives it the ending I never thought was possible in this day and age.

Very well done by Stallone - if you grew up with Rocky like me - go see this movie!

Further proof that Bill Simmons has just up and lost it. IIRC he even said in the past that Rocky IV was the best Rocky film and he says Rocky 2 is only better than Rocky 5. Seriously, Bill Simmons, you are not a true Rocky fan and you dont know #### about #### unless it came out of Tom Brady's ###.

Initial Review

Take 2

Count me as on the fence. It was OK. Definitely a better finale than V, and now we can all pretend V never happened.

Ive seen Rocky twice now, and all I can say it is a great movie, for all the reasons posted above. Also, how many sequels have been made that are as good as the Rocky series. There are very few sequels that can survive a second movie, never mind 6 of them. My qudos go off to Stallone for marketing a project that seemed like an improbable project, and turning that project into something that not only teaches something about life, but instills the fact that the worse thing anyone can do is give up.

Great point on Simmons, he got it WAY wrong and didn't anticipate this blowback.

Watching this for the first time since seeing it in the theater. Actually a pretty decent movie. Good ending to one of my all-time favorite franchises.
