*** Official Ronald Curry Bandwagon*** (1 Viewer)

The value of Curry seemed to boom at the end of the season and I think this is the year he is poised to breakout. The former collegiate quarterback had more receptions (28) than all other wideouts in Weeks 14-16 and should continue to be the #1 option in the Raiders passing game if Randy Moss is dealt/released (a likely scenario). The great thing about Curry is that he is so cheap at the moment and can most likely be found on the free agent list. He is an awesome play for dynasty!

on.

unfortunately he's playing for the

semi-pro Merced Raiders.

The kid has all the tools. I like him a lot.

If Randy Moss gets dealt during the off-season,

RC won't be on any free agent wires.

I'm on board.

The dude is a sick athlete - I think he was high school player of the year in NC in football and basketball. He's big, has great hands, and he's fast enough. He has also put up enough big games in the past to convince me that, when healthy, he can be a stud. ESPECIALLY in ppr.

I wouldn't have that hard of a time seeing a 90 catch season from this guy this year.

Been :banned: the Ronald Curry Kool-Aid through at least three seasons and two torn achilles tendons. I REALLY like this guy and he is currently a carry-over from '06 on my keeper/dynasty team, but I doubt he'll survive my mandatory roster cut-downs this summer (can only keep 6 WRs  ). I may re-acquire him if my league mates don't value him quite as highly.

If you don't have to thrown any fish back in the sea - then his low price tag, ideal situation, size and skills make him a great guy to stash. Just cross your fingeres he can stay healthy.

I recently dealt Santana Moss

for Curry and a 2008 1st round pick which

should be top 3 -5 pick, imo.

I make this deal mainly for the pick,

but the upside of Curry.

I'm hoping Oakland picks JaMarcus

with their first pick. If they select Calvin,

and dump Moss I will also be pleased, as long as

thet end up with someone at QB..... anyone.

 Curry and Berrian were two players I had targeted and acquired in the last off-season.

i own him in both dynasty leagues. hopefully kiffin plays him at the #2 or the slot, where he's probably best suited.

fixed. I saw him in one HS game roll to his left (right handed QB) and chuck the ball over 60 yards while in a full sprint and hit his reciever in stride. He was a man among boys then. Except when he went up against Vick.

Like you said, if he can stay healthy he can be a PPR stud.

Not a bad buy low but just hope his achilles tendon's hold up. I can't think of another pro that has blown that out twice before?

I gotta find the link, but I was listening to John Clayton on ESPN Radio yesterday (around 5:00pm EST) and he was quoting Pete Carroll who indicated Lane Kiffin already told him the Raiders are taking J. Russell with the first pick.

If true, nice job Pete! Way to help out your friend. Gonna be tough to trade out of the pick now.

My opine is that the Raiders would do well to take Russell. Curry will benefit appreciably with him under center and Moss at a new address, especially late into next season.

I'll be watching.

If Porter stays (and that is likely) I don't see Curry as the #1 wideout in Oakland.
Curry has shown more more than Porter.I think Curry will be ahead of Porter on the depth chart.Porter has to be one of the most over-hyped WRs in the NFL.
Porter has never had a 1000 yd receiving season. He has been close a couple of times, but never over 1000 yds.
Neither has Curry. Porter has however had 998 which is pretty darn close. I think Curry is hungrier and might be a better pick up especially for the value but I think Porter has more talent. Curry has had 1 descent year if you call 650 yards and 6 td's descent. Porter's had 3 years better than Curry's best and isn't as much as a injury risk.

I do not disagree that Porter has had a couple good years. Just pointing out that, contrary to what many would think, Porter has never had a 1000 season. Plus, I think comparing Curry (with Shell and Brooks/Walter) vs Porter (with Turner, Callahan, and Gruden and Collins and Gannon at QB) without considering how bad this year's Raiders were on offense will make Porter look better. You are looking at Porter when he was the WR1 with a decent QB and coach. I think it is way too early to see what will happen with the Raiders WRs.

I've been saying he's a stud in the making for a while now. The injuries have slowed him but he's still looking good. If he stays healthy I feel he will become an elite WR. He has tremendous skills and if they improve that offense then he could benefit nicely.

Porter has had more opportunities(240 catches to 119 catches)...check out the game stats of the 2004 season and you'll see that curry was more productive vs tougher competition. I agree that curry is more of an injury risk but as far as talent goes I'll take curry every time

Porter was starting during this period while Currywas only a part time starter. It's difficult to compare the two.But looking forward, I'll take Curry over Porter hands down,I think he will be the #2 in Oakland with JaMarcus tossing the ball next season.

And So It Begins.....

Update:

Curry signed a five-year $20 million contract Monday, the Contra Costa Times reports.

Recommendation:

Curry initially said he had agreed to a two-year deal, but subsequently signed a five-year deal Monday. With incentives, the contract could be worth as much as $20 million, including $8.5 million in guaranteed money. Curry showed he can get open playing as the No. 1 receiver for the Raiders towards the end of 2006. His production in 2007 will depend on whether the Raiders keep Randy Moss and the quarterback situation, but as long as he's at least the No. 2 receiver in Oakland, he should be a viable No. 3 fantasy option.

I personally think Moss is gone..Welcome back to stardom Ronald !
