***Official Rush Thread*** (1 Viewer)

I changed my mind about MSG...going to Philly instead and meeting up with a great Rush fan I had met on the Vapor Trails tour and have met up with every tour since then for a road trip. You can tail gate in Philly.

Best pair I pulled for Philly was 17th row Geddy side...threw them back. I always score amazing seats the week of the show off stub hub. Always. I will try the general sale....but I know I will score great seats the week of when the brokers get really desperate and slash their ticket prices in a fire sale. Never fails.

I can wait.

wife watched that the other night and I heard the song in the background as they were talking and called it out

then it went full blow air drum solo I was like what the hell are you watching this rules

dork

Got my Philly tickets this morning. Upper level was all that was available at 10:00:05. After I finished up with my order, I went and looked for singles...still BA was upper deck. Tried tix for Newark just for kicks and it immediately re-directed to "other shows in your area - Philly" so I guess they went quick as well. Figured they would be harder to get than Philly, NYC area on a Saturday.

Got my tix for Bristow (VA) also. Section 305 - last row of sections, middle for the outside stadium. Not too far back, won't need binoculars.

I have great seats for Tampa. Section 130 (like sitting 10-12th row) 10 rows up. Going to take my son (who will be able to see perfectly from the lower bowl) and wife (both huge Rush fans as well of course) and make a weekend of baseball and Rush. Friday night Rays game (vs the A's) Saturday afternoon Ray's game then Rush Sunday night.

I axed Philly, and am going to Vegas for the weekend with my best friend (and drummer in my band). Flying in Friday morning, staying at the MGM going home Monday. Scored a pair of 8th row tickets Alex side for that one (through my casino host at MGM).

It's going to be an awesome tour.

Sorry if this has already been posted;

This Saturday Geddy appears on That Metal Show and after that on VH1 Classic is a new show called Rock Icons featuring G.Lee. Also John P. from Dream Theater is supposed to be on TMS same night

Geddy ranked the first 9 Rush albums on That Metal Show. Here are his rankings:

1. Moving Pictures

2. Permanent Waves

3. 2112

4. Hemispheres

5. A Farewell To Kings

6. Rush

7. Signals

8. Caress of Steel

9. Fly By Night

What do you guy's think?

Golden era of Rush. So hard to split hairs but I am one of the few that actually likes CoS. Top 5 for sure all time imho so I obviously feel it's too low on his list. Young me would argue with current me, but the debut album needs to drop. Otherwise, throw them all in a hat and draw names and I'm fine with whatever order you come up with.

Everyone will have a slightly different list but I'm pretty close to yours & Geddy's. BTW, he comes off as about as non full of himself as any "rock star" I've seen interviewed. I even like his explanations for getting into watching the Cubs & wine collecting.

Can't argue with the top 5 (maybe some could on the order but still) Only thing I would change is swapping Fly By Night with Rush in the order.

Swap and FBN with the debut and that'd be about my same list, although I might put 2112 at the top.

Having him rank just the first nine was dumb. The terrible hosts of that show played the "let's ignore everything after 1982" game, even not getting the name of Clockwork Angels correct. Geddy looked embarrassed for their ineptitude as hosts several times.

My rankings are:

Permanent Waves

Hemispheres

Moving Pictures

Signals

2112

A Farewell To Kings

Fly By Night

Caress of Steel

Rush

As much as I like Signals, I like every other album from 1976-1987 more than it, as well as Counterparts, Clockwork Angels and Roll the Bones (on certain days).

Farewell to Kings

The Trees

Closer to the Heart

Natural Science

Xanadu

No Bravado, Red Sector A, Mystic Rhythms, Subdivisions, Roll The Bones, Neurotica, or Nobody's Hero?????

7/23 for me! :headbang:

Don't get me wrong, I love all Rush, but 74-80 is what I listen to about 95% of the time. Its like, when you find the best flavor ice cream on the planet, and you can get it anywhere you want, why **** around with anything else? ;)

My list isn't far off from Geddy's. I have his top 5, but in a different order, and flip Caress of Steel with Rush.

I go with

1. Hemispheres

2. Moving Pictures

3. Permanent Waves

4. 2112

5. A Farewell to Kings

6. Caress of Steel

7. Signals

8. Rush

9. Fly By Night

I prefer 80s and 90s, different flavors of ice cream, but we still both like Ben and Jerry's!

My favorite period is 78-87.

Hemispheres thru Hold Your Fire.

I love everything prior to it. But that period was just such a wild sonic ride. They kept pushing the envelope each and every record starting with Hemispheres and ending with Hold Your Fire. Just a brilliant period of creativity of the band.

I got into Rush around the Presto era so I still have a soft spot for it, but the run from 2112 through Grace Under Pressure is unbeatable.

The Dutch Progressive Rock Page (DPRP) has been going back through their archives of cd/dvd reviews. They recently dug up this one for Rush In Rio. There's a link within this page to the original review.

Sounds epic. can't wait

Yep, that set list is absurdly great. Love seeing them pull out some songs for the encore that they hadn't played in full since the 70s!

Listening to the boot of the show, Geddy's vocals are definitely very rough on the oldest material, but ####, the guy is 61 now. That stuff (Hemispheres Prelude, Anthem, etc.) was probably a ##### to sing live when he was in 20s  , so it easy to see why stuff like that hasn't been played hardly at all over the last few decades, but props to them for throwing fans a bone with that stuff on what is likely their last tour.

It was the same when they brought out Circumstances. Early in the tour Geddy had a tough time with it. Got much better as the tour went on.

My show is less than two weeks away (Tampa) then on to Vegas in July.

Super pumped....and unspoiled. I have no clue about the set-list and have and will avoid all spoilers.

I also ask anyone posting in this thread to hide any setlist talk, songs etc in a spoiler tag so other fans who do not want to be spoiled....stay that way.
