Slapdash

Just 2 days away from the kickoff here in Charlotte. Looking forward to an exciting year. I just hope Steve can keep them hungry enough to take care of the weaker teams on the schedule with all the hype.

Another ugly win. Hopefully we will improve as the season goes.

Damn, Melvin Ingram is more of a beast than Clowney.
Don't know about that. I don't think I've ever seen a true freshman like this Clowney. If he could somehow come out for the draft after this year he would be taken 2nd right behind Luck.

That sack/fumble created by Clowney was awesome and had everyone at my house on their feet. The 1st half sack was nice as well.

Wow!!! What a 4thQ. Reminds me of the game two years ago, with a better ending. That said, I know we've faced two good QBs the first two weeks and we're still shorthanded in the secondary, but we have given up a TON of points the first two weeks. We have to get better on defense. But an SEC win on the road ..... I'll take it!!!!

It took 5 games, but the Garcia factor finally got us.
And Shaw's no the answer either. So now what?
How do you know Shaw is not the answer? We've only seen about a quarter of him playing. We've seen 5 years of Steven Garcia giving the big games away.

Because I see the old ball coach as a pretty smart dude. If he was the answer, he'd be playing.
I think the head ball coach is a pretty smart dude, but seems to have a blind spot regarding Garcia.

The way I see it Shaw has to be the starter from this point forward with Garcia coming in from the bench. Shaw has to get some meaningful reps this year. If not Shaw then give Thompson or McEvoy a shot. This team is too one dimensional right now and Lattimore can't do it all. Hell, I wouldn't be opposed to giving Gilmore some snaps at QB. I know he is gonna be a corner at the next level but he was a fine QB in HS.

It seems to me that Garcia's personality was changed. He doesn't drink anymore. He's clean shaven and cut his hair. Let him go back to being who he is. That's just my opinion.

Can't be both....it's not smart to have said blind spot is it?? ;)

Could someone explain to me why the heck they didn't take a time out with 24 seconds left? They had 1 yard to go for the first, couldn't spike it as it was 4th down. If they call a time out, they still have 24 seconds and the clock stops when they get the 1st down (which they did) so they can be lined up with 20 or so seconds to go for that last pass. So, instead of having enough time to spike it after the pass to get into FG range and try a FG, they take a time out at 12 seconds when the clocked already stopped for the 1st down and then don't have enough time to try the FG.

I just don't understand how you can make a decision to use the timeout after the 1st down instead of before going for the 1st or after the first play after the 1st down. They called it at the one point where it basically meant nothing. Its 4th down, either take it before the play or make sure the team lines up right away after the first down and take a shot at getting in FG range with the timeout in your pocket so you can pass it anywhere.

Not an SC fan, but I did watch the end of the game and I hate bad time management. I feel bad for the SC players that the coaches screwed up what should have been a nice final drive to get a chance to win the game.

Shaw to start against Kentucky

COLUMBIA — South Carolina sophomore Connor Shaw will start at quarterback against Kentucky this Saturday afternoon, Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier announced after practice Monday night.

Shaw, who started the season opener against East Carolina, will replace fifth-year senior Stephen Garcia.

“It’s Connor’s game,” Spurrier said.

In two games this season, Shaw completed 4 of 11 passes for 29 yards. Shaw played in nine games a year ago as a true freshman, completing 23 of 32 passes for 223 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.

After throwing for more than 3,000 yards as a junior, Garcia has gotten off to a slow start this year, completing 61 of 118 passes for 844 with four TDs and 9 interceptions. Garcia threw four interceptions in a 21-3 victory over Vanderbilt, but was just 9 of 23 for 160 yards and two interceptions this past week in a 16-13 loss to unranked Auburn.

Yeah, I thought this was a pretty big mistake. To have any chance you need to take the timeout, convert, and stop the clock again.

Not looking good for Marcus. I'm hearing he's out for the year. We should know MRI results sometime today.

This is the only video I could find so far.

I've heard they're thinking he may be gone for the season, but I'm still hoping that's the Doom and Gloom crowd talking.

South Carolina lost the battle of USCs in basketball yesterday. South Carolina loses the right to use the USC moniker.

USC beats Clemson in basketball today and then are announced as #9 in the BCS earning a trip to the Capital One Bowl against Nebraska.

Good times.

Good Times indeed. Bruce Ellington beats Cl3mson twice in 8 days.

Coach Tanner, Coach Spurrier, and Coach Horn are gonna be on the Maury Povich show tomorrow. They are gonna find out who Cl3mson's daddy is.
