****Official Spider-man: Homecoming Movie Thread**** (1 Viewer)

Loved it. I don't think it tops Toby's Spiderman 2, but it's right up there. Better then all the Avengers and maybe same as GotG.

(MY TOP 5 COMIC MOVIES: 1. Spiderman 2 2. TDK 3. GotG 4. Homecoming 5. Logan).

Holland is a great Peter Parker. I was thought Vulture would be a lame villian, but he was fantastic. I didn't see the twist coming.

Also everything in the movie made sense and while not 100% true to the 60s Spider-Man a lot of it still has roots in the newer versions of Spider-Man (younger Aunt May, Iron Man suit, etc). I don't mind if he doesn't start out as fast or without a refined Spider Sense. They make the movie and character more entertaining and they make the plot more believable. I mean do you really expect a 15 year old to know how to be a superhero right off the bat? I like to see characters grow in movies/series and this provides plenty of room.

Enjoyed it and thoroughly excited for the series as Spider-Man is right up there with Batman as my favorite comic character.

What we have to remember is that Parker was a teenage nerd who had never thrown a punch. It was his Spidey senses and speed that allowed him.to be effective as he had no training.

And he gets it in Infinity Wars as was revealed this week.

I think not same character, just an homage
They've said she's the future love interest for Peter. With how much they change about the characters these days, having the initials and being his love interest makes her the same character. Hell, about the only thing Flash Thompson in this movie has in common with his comic book version is the name.

Kevin Feige himself said she is not Mary Jane Watson. That's all I'm saying.

Fyi people in our theater were very angry at the second after credits scene
I loved it. I always stay for the credits for any movie. Been doing it since my first film class on college. It gives the movie time to breathe. Let's you take it in more before being hit in the face by the real world when you walk out that theater door.

I had a hunch that Vulture was going to be one of the kids dad's after his henchmen mentioned something while they were in the High School about how the boss would flip if he knew where they were.... and I remembered the drawing his daughter made of the Avengers in the opening scene.  I just thought it was going to be MJ after the detention bit about how she likes to draw people...

They have thousands upon thousands of storylines to pull from and have been doing this for decades in print form. Hire some talent to oversee everything on a global level and get some talent to buy in with the vision.
They do, but what they don't have is actors who can keep playing the same characters forever. In the comics, Tony Stark can stay the same age for 50 years

It's going to be really interesting to see how they transition away from Iron Man, Thor, Cap etc
Some of this also has to do with how much longer do actors like RDJ want to play their characters. Not as easy as changing a Bond actor. :2cents:

I really did like the movie, kids did too. Seen it twice because one boy who wanted to see it was at camp when the rest of us saw it the first time. Liked Holland, he really comes across as a teenager. One of my favorite parts of the movie was his video of the Civil War 'Retreat;' I also liked his interactions with Happy.

I thought the CA cameos were funny. As others mentioned, the gym teacher saying 'Pretty sure this guy's a war criminal" was clever. I would love to know if Evans likes doing them. It may just be his acting, but it seems like he's having fun, especially the cameo in Thor 2, where Loki changes into him to blend in.

Really liked this movie. Loved the teen humor in it; there was a lot of deadpan angst. Laughed out loud several times. Pretty kewl, if you ask me.

Best scene of the movie. Both actors absolutely nailed it. That was a lean-forward-in-your-seat moment.

pretty unexpected also because if you're a super nerd fan and thought that the "liz" was based on "liz allen"  then her dad is definitely NOT Adrian Toomes...  Adrian is an old guy with no family ever mentioned to my knowledge.
