Carolina has scored 580 points and allowed 347 points (+233)

Denver has scored 398 points and allowed 330 points (+68).

The Broncos allowed 1 point per game less than the Panthers . . . but the Panthers outscored Denver by 10 ppg.

IMO, unless DEN comes up with a lot more offense than usual or an inordinate amount of turnovers, I see CAR by 10.
And the Panthers points against is skewed. When you're in prevent defense early in the 3rd quarter a lot of games you're going to allow sustained drives and points.

I'm curious what the first half points against are for both teams.
Denver gave up 158 first half points and 172 second half points.

Carolina gave up 128 first half points and 219 second half points.

Exactly what games were the Panthers playing prevent D early in the 3rd quarter?

The points against aren't skewed when blown leads almost cost them games (like against Indy, where it took OT to win, or the Giants, where they blew a 28-point lead).

If anything, their 2nd half letdowns this season show a lack of killer instinct, not being able to keep their foot on the throat of an opponent they had down. They did it to Arizona, but I remember their D getting gashed badly in 2nd halves by GB, Indy, NYG, Seattle, NO, etc.

Carolina 45

Denver 20

Norman gets a pick 6. Stewart and Cam rush for TDs. Olsen and Ginn get receiving TDs. One receiving TD up for grabs, most likely Ginn torching Talib. Kuechly also gets a pick.

:homer:

Just a gut, I think Denver wins in a nailbiter.....peyton ain't goin out with eli having more rings. Denvers D is dirty, and the Panthers are due for a let down. Cam keeps his team loose, but I could see them pucker up just a bit on the biggest of stages.....or maybe I'm completely wrong

C'mon dude, the most points the Broncos have allowed all season is 34 and that was on the road to the Steelers. This is the best defense in the league.

This is a tough one to pick because I hate both teams, but I'll go with Panthers 34, Broncos 10.

Cam wins MVP. And I say that as someone who absolutely detests that foppish cheese ball.

I admire your prediction but understand that the Panthers have given up 19.6 ppg. Peyton Manning with Sanders and Thomas is nothing to scoff at. It's crazy to think that the Broncos will only score 10 when their defense will get sacks, interceptions, and probably fumbles.

If you're going to pencil in a Carolina win, make it a little more realistic. 27 - 24.

Personally, I'm guessing:

30 - 24 Broncos

Peyton throws for 2TD. Anderson rushes for 1 TD. McManus boots in 3FG.

Cam runs for 1TD. Cam throws for 1TD. Defense scores 1TD. Game boots 1FG.

I'll bite - why do you hate both teams? Fans of other AFC West teams may not like Denver, but I don't recall anyone hating them. Even if you think Peyton is a goober (an understandable sentiment), why hate the guy?

Panthers hate I kind of get, if you don't like them to begin with, Cam's antics can make him irritating.

But this seems by far the more popular sentiment:

First Super Bowl I can remember where I don't dislike one of the teams. Should be great. I'm excited
even here, everyone I've talked to about the game has a similar feeling that even if our preferred team loses, we like the other team enough that it's still good. Our preferred teams won their conferences. And that's even 'Bama fans who hate Auburn - therefore Cam while in college.

As for a prediction, I'll go with 21-17 Carolina with the best defensive game since 2007.

Peyton has an okay game mostly as a game manager but isn't able to pull off last minute heroics.

Cam throws for 1 TD, rushes for another, and throws a pick 6 to Talib.

Both defenses keep both running games from doing much damage.

Broncos pundits blame the receivers more than Peyton for the loss.

I don't see how Denver wins this one unless it comes out down the road that they cheated to win again, just like they did for their only other 2 Super Bowl wins.

Panthers over Broncos 38-13. Peyton chokes once again

wow -didn't see this one coming --

I'm also in camp of not disliking either team but would mostly pull for Manning to get another ring -- Broncos 26- Panthers 24

Nothing against the Broncos as an organization. And I actually like Peyton quite a bit. And I think Denver is a wonderful town. But their fans drive me crazy. I've known more than a few of them over the years and they were absolutely insufferable during their back to back wins in the late 90s. I think if the franchise had not one, but two, Hall of fame QBs go out on top to cap their careers, we'd never hear the end of it.

Don't really like either team and I'm leery about Cam coughing up a fur ball. However, much like the Seahawks, the broncos players have no class so go Panthers :boxing:

Feel free to root for the Panthers, this bunch is full of a lot of really good guys and teammates. I really hope they win, because I'd love to see them get their championship.

So, I'm watching the Phil Simms Iron Bowl thing, and had a question:

When did Phil Simms start the transformation into being a woman?

So how many morons are going to kill themselves thinking that playing football while skydiving is a good idea

Oh and #### the new KFC Colonel :yucky:

Took the Broncos at 6.5 (got it 2 days after the AFC/NFC title games) and then this morning....I said **ck it. I bet the Broncos +190 on the $$$ line.

Come on Old man. One more time man. Go out with a story book ending.

Money is coming back to DEN at this late hour.....I was firmly in CARs camp.......but something is telling me that they won't cover. With that. it'll come down to turnovers.
