Are there actually people still contending he was offsides? In real time it did appear he may have crossed early but watching it once in slow motion made it obvious that he timed the snap perfectly.

I'm sure the game was awesome to a Bronco's fan but I can assure you, to a neutral fan, it was painfully boring. And I can appreciate good defense. Carolina was sloppy in every phase of the game; from missing FGs to not covering punts to flags on every return. They actually moved the ball OK but turned it over repeatedly. Simply put, I think the moment was too big for them.
Denver's offense was nothing special either with the only TD coming on a 5 yard drive. Talib should have been ejected for the egregious face mask. I know the NFL doesn't do that but they should.
Officials could have dropped a PI flag or two on the Broncos. Refs weren't horrible but I was disappointed at the telecast not showing us better replays of critical calls, like the pivotal catch/no catch.
Really an underwhelming game... But, winning ugly is still winning. Congrats Denver, you earned the victory. This was just not a good game to watch.

Yup, I agree. It's amazing because he just got off the ball so much faster than anyone else, at first glance it looked like there was no possible way he didn't jump early.

An all-time great defense dominating in the Super Bowl is rarely fun to watch for anybody but fans of the team dominating, which is why when people talk about the best Super Bowls ever, you never hear Bears/Patriots, Ravens/Giants, Bucs/Raiders or Seahawks/Broncos mentioned. It was ugly, yes, but as a Broncos fan, it was pretty sweet.

"Solid" defenses? Two of the best in the league, maybe among the best this decade. (feel free to tell me I'm way off based on stats, I'm just going by what I saw)
agreed that the playcalling was uninspired, but the Panthers offense was the best in the NFL this year.
I was cheering for the Panthers but still found the game objectively entertaining. Ugly, but sometimes ugly can be entertaining.

Two good defenses. But some dreadful offenses that game. Multiple open receivers missed, drops, fumbles, ridiculous penalty count. Of course Bronco fans enjoyed it, as they should. But to the casual fan, it was not a very entertaining game. I think the second half became background noise at the party for most folks.

I replied to this same concept in an earlier post. I think any defense can look great against an uninspired offense that doesn't put pressure on them. This game was exactly that. The moment Denver went up 10 points---they went to some of the most conservative play calling on offense that I've seen. The moment the officials didn't allow the catch by Cotchery at the beginning of the game--and Cam gets sack fumbled for a TD--Cam played disengaged/disinterested for much of the game. I'll copy and paste my reply from earlier:

Vastly conservative play calling? Uh, what? The Broncos had, IIRC, 7 sacks. You don't allow 7 sacks by playing conservatively on offense. Carolina took shots down field the whole game, and even hit a few of them, but, by and large, their inability to score was because the Broncos defense punched them in the mouth and they could never really get on track.
You say Carolina's offense blew the chances to make plays on offense when they were there...that tends to happen when a great defense throws you off your game.

Carolina is a run-first team. They led the league in rushing attempts. Can't really fault them for trying to run the ball to get out of the hole. They won 15 games in the regular season by running the ball.
What won the game for Denver is they contained the Carolina running attack and forced the Panthers to throw the ball down-field - not just because the score dictated them to, but because they couldn't run.
As far as Denver turtling up and protecting a lead - that's exactly what they've done all year. This game was nothing out of the ordinary for the Broncos. They put it all on the defense to win the game, just as they did all season.
