***Official Super Bowl Game Thread*** (1 Viewer)

so i don't have to search the thread...can someone tell me what happened with the Colts not getting an PAT after thier first TD? Did they try for two? Or a muffed snap on an extra point?
Muffed,.... the rain was coming down by then.
so..that isn't considered a missed Extra Point?
Hunter Smith bobbled the hold, so it was a botched two point conversion. But realistically, the Colts are 1-2 on extra point attempts and 1-2 on FGA.

Vinatieri never got a foot on it, so they said it was recorded as a muffed 2 point conversion rather than a missed kick.

What a TERRIBLE technicality if someone who is obviously trying to get off the field.. penalizes in this situation. Awful.

the reason i ask is that i have Vinetiari in a Playoff FF league. And it is -5 for missed PAT's. Thanks for the clarificaton.

If there weren't a penalty, then defenses could substitute at virtually any time. This puts the control back in the hands of the offense.

Nah... he's running off... and 20 yards away from the ball... I get your point.... but likewise, the "spirit of the rule" isn't for offenses to take advantage of it.

BF=anti bears fan
Not really. I'm rooting against both teams in this one, so I'm almost rooting for the Bears by default because they're the underdog. I just think 12 men on the field is an important rule that prevents the defense from making constant adjustments. Otherwise the no-huddle offense would be much less effective.

The ref missed it, too bad so sad. They'll catch it the next 99 times.
There's no reason to make it unreviewable, because it's an observable fact and not a judgement call. There's a good reason to make it reviewable, because the offense may try to get the quick snap while the 12th player is on the field and then make a bad play specifically because the refs didn't catch it. Very reasonable to review it in those cases.
