Cotto tore his bicep in round 7 and fought through it. Ever the tough SOB.

Godspeed, Miguel. One of the great ones and a class act.

I am worried it will be zzzzzz.....even for maybe us fight fans
Maybe. I don't know if you recall but I just became a big boxing fan and it's honestly made me a nerd about it.

Like I have to watch how I talk to others about it because I can geek out about a simple slip or pivot.

So I'm pretty sure I'm going to enjoy it on some level. Violence is still awesome though.

That's awesome, glad to have a new fan aboard. I don't recall, what got you into it?

In terms of pure ability, this could be the fight of the year.  That being said (as was mentioned above), this also has the potential to be a snooze fest.  I'll take Lomachenko by a wide decision.

I think Lomachenko will win 7-8 rounds, and he'll be given credit for much more. Bob ain't gonna get burned by Rigo again.

I think this one's cant-miss. It might be highly technical, but Lomachenko, for all his skill, really presses the action. One of things that is getting overlooked here (other than Rigo being one of the few athletes alive who is probably top 5 in the world at his given sport and he smokes) is that Rigo literally has jaw-cracking/orbital-bone cracking power. He broke Dickens' jaw with one shot. He broke Amagasa's orbital and jaw, and absolutely beat his face to pieces. The weight disadvantage is going to nullify his power somewhat, but I think he has enough to keep Loma honest.

And if skilled, technical boxing isn't your thing, Salido/Roman is on HBO afterwards.

Is it Saturday yet?

I will be interested to see how the public reacts to this fight.
Guys like Iole and Rafael do Rigondeaux no favors. Granted, Rigo does himself no favors in the way he's handled his career, but a professional boxing writer shouldn't look at Rigondeaux and think "boring."

What are we drinking tonight?

Who are we looking for in the early fights? I want to see Conlan scrap.

Drinking water unfortunately.

this first fight is looking good so far.

anyone know what happened to teddy atlas?  Heard he was pulled last minute.

And to answer your question, Atlas was pulled earlier in the week. He had a verbal altercation with this Kriegel fella a while back and Kriegel is now part of the team. That said, ESPN didn't say why he was pulled.

Ahhh thanks was curious what happened.

this fight is about to be a wrap.

who are we liking tonight?  Vasyl is -315/ Rigo +245.  i want to bet on this but don't really know either fighter.
It sounds funny to not like a guy that has never lost, but I think given his age and moving up two weight classes, it's hard to pick Rigo. While he has more power than Mayweather, he fights the same style. He needs Vasyl to make a mistake IMO and I don't see that happening.

thanks. gonna throw some on Vasyl.  seems like everyone is saying judges are going to be siding with him as well.

Yeah, Loma is way more aggressive so it's a lot easier to see him getting a decision. Rigo has amazing D and 1 punch power but moving up a weight might cost him too much punching pop.

I am worried it will be a pretty boring fight- Rigo wants it that way- he likes a slower tempo. HBO is likelier to have the action fights. The skill and talent ESPN has tonight is an A though. Generational level stuff.
