Im impressed by the fact Canelo was clearly being outboxed for a few rounds, and then KO'd a strong opponent.

This GGG-Canelo talk by Khan's camp is WWE-esque though

Khan just doesn't possess the power for that weight class.

It did nothing to worry Canelo at all.

It was only a matter of time before he caught him...headhunted the whole time.

Another tip of the hat to Mayweather's underrated power...Canelo protected himself all fight because he was eating those punches...but with Khan, he just kept slinging haymakers.

I thought Canelo taxed Khan's body very well especially rds 3-5. That certainly helped slow down Khan and made him an easier target.

But he did throw some wild punches but welcome to Canelo boxing.

He definitely landed some serious blows on those ribs...you could see the marks while Khan laid motionless on the canvas.

Oddly enough...who has the leverage in a negotiation between Canelo and GGG?

Can Canelo get the catchweight or will he climb to 160?

Wonder if Canelo's bodywork got Khan to drop his hands some, or if it was just a catastrophic technical error. Will have to pay attention to that when I re-watch.

Hypothetical: You get one all-expenses-paid trip to either GGG/Canelo at the JerryDome, or Ward/Kovalev in Vegas. Assume you'd be sitting at the same distance/angle from the ring for either, which do you choose?

Can't lose with either fight. I would pick the one in Vegas though.

GGG-Canelo.  And that's taking into account location.  Kovalev-Ward is intreguing and will be fun, and Vegas is always fun, but Canelo-GGG is can't miss, even if going to it means being in Texas for the rest of a so-called vacation.

I expect Golden Boy to offer GGG two options - a fight at 160 with an 85-15 purse split or a fight at 155 with a 60-40 purse split.

If I'm anyone to do with Canelo...I get GGG's gloves changed to something reasonable.

I've never seen anything like those gloves...might as well be fighting bareknuckle.

Rosado said he thought something was up with the gloves. They are Grants which is a standard brand and they have been checked and approved by every athlete commission, Rosado insisted something was different about them as he said they just felt like getting hit with a baseball bat.

I don't know all that backstory...I'm just going off what I'm seeing.

I know Grants have always been puncher's gloves...but it just seems to stand out more on GGG.

Not that he can't knock anyone out with pillows...just remarking how they grab my attention on him.

Weird, I noticed GGG's gloves too. Thought I was the only one and didn't think much of it.

"Khanelo" did 600k PPV buys.

Interesting note, the last non-May or Pac fight to hit 1mm+ in PPV buys was DLH/Hopkins in 2004. Think Canelo and GGG would easily hit 1mm+, given that his Cotto fight almost got there.

Canelo/GGG will absolutely top 1MM easily...it won't even be a debate in my mind.

I know mostly everyone thinks GGG beats Canelo, but a lot of talking heads inside and outside of boxing don't seem to give Canelo any real chance. You guys agree with that? I think people are really selling Canelo short. He might be young, but he's much more experienced in tough fights  than GGG. GGG has never fought anyone in the same planet as May or Cotto.

GGG, to me, is like a powerhouse mid-major team. Even if he doesn't have any big-name wins, how he uniformly houses the guys he does get to fight him says a lot. Has he ever been in any trouble at all?

That said, I do think Canelo has a chance. He can hit hard, he's a good counter-puncher, and, even though GGG is great, he doesn't have much experience going deep, or dealing with a fighter that he can't quickly grind down or stop. I think he should've been more aggressive against Khan, but I think his style fits better against guys like Golovkin than a Mayweather or a Lara.

That said, G is a monster. I think G probably wins, but blindly I'd take Canelo at dog odds.

There is no sure thing in this fight, which makes it all the more intreguing.

The two most overlooked aspects about this fight are Canelo's chin and GGG's technical prowess.  I could see GGG picking apart Canelo early the way he did to Lemieux, but I can't see him finishing Canelo off in the same manner; not to say GGG can't score a KO but Canelo will not mentally cave after being outboxed.  Canelo has endured his share of power hitters without wilting (Cintron, Mosley - who has good power, Trout, Angulo, Kirkland) and has been able to cope with slick boxers, with the exception of Mayweather, who is on a different plane than anyone in this generation.

This is the type of fight I could see happening ten times with ten different results.  Not to say it would be a 5-5 split, but 6-4, maybe 7-3 is as lopsided as it would ever be.  If I'm Canelo, I get a rematch clause in there.

It's the best I can do now as altered states has set in,    One of the best fights I've seen is Corrales vrs. Castillo.  Two guys that met in the center of the ring & just started trading body punches.  Thing is the punches where beautiful.   Thrown perfectly from the hip.   Little later they kept going to the body.  No that wasn't a typo; they just kept going to the body.  Once in while they threw some head shots.  It was beautiful, it really was.

They actually fought twice, it was an overweight fight.   You are looking for the 1st fight  !!!!!!!!!!!...............it's really something.

You know boxing.   cool.  I've following a long time.  Listened on an AM radio in my backyard for the 2nd Liston- Clay fight.     It's really something.    I have the utmost respect for the boxers that go into the ring.

cool

There are so many full fights on YouTube, you can get lost for hours. Especially nice watching on a TV.

Love watching old fights, do that a lot while on the treadmill. Watched  Sugar Ray-Hearns yesterday. Great stuff.
There is an upcoming fight that is giving me a real Leonard-Hearns I vibe.  Terence Crawford vs Viktor Postol to unify the 140 lb title.  Both undefeated, Postol is 5'11, which is ridiculously tall at that weight, and was able to get a stoppage over tough-as-nails Lucas Mattyse.  Crawford is extremely slick with power much like Sugar Ray.

Shame it's a PPV, but I'll be getting it for sure. I've been following Bud for a bit now.

I'm sure you've watched it 80's but 1 of my favorites:

Micky Ward vs Emanuel Augustus
i watched that fight live at the hampton casino with my GF ...bought 2 scalped tickets out front ...while waiting we started talking to these really cool people ... turned out they were micky wards family...they had great seats and when we went in they waved us over to where they were ...sat with them all night...what a fight....broke a record for the most punches thrown in a 10 rd fight if i remember correctly...anyways after the fight before the decision was announced a group of guys were walking by where we were sitting...they must have has an old beef going with mickys family ...guessing something from lowell ...but a fight broke out between the 2 groups ...ended pretty fast ..everyone cooled down because of all the cops around...but the girl i was with threw a cup of beer at the other guys and all hell broke loose...the fight spilled over into the crowd and they had an area cordoned off for the guy operating the boom camera ...as the fight grew the guy had to move fast outa the way and the boom camera swung downward towards the crowd ...he caught it in time ...it would have killed someone for sure ...the cops rushed in and started arresting people...it was pretty crazy but we had a blast..just happy nobody was hurt...voted fight of the year for 2001

The final numbers read 1182 total punches thrown for Ward, 320 (27%) landed. 918 thrown for Burton, 421 (46%) landed. That's 210 average combined punches thrown and over 74 average combined punches landed per round.

well, at least this event prepped you for the trump rallies GB.

So the Wilder-Povetkin bout is now off.  Shame - Wilder would have had a chance to really prove himself with a win in Moscow.  Could have possibly leveraged a fight with the Fury-Klitchko II winner.  Not so likely now.
