Packers Cuts:

WR Jake Allen, CB Scorpio Babers, DT Conrad Bolston, C Brennen Carvalho, S Tyrone Culver, LB Spencer Havner,

TE Joey Haynos, RB Noah Herron, G Ryan Keenan, LB Danny Lansanah, DT Alfred Malone, RB Vernand Morency,

DT Daniel Muir, CB Joe Porter, WR Johnny Quinn, WR Taj Smith, WR Brett Swain, T Orrin Thompson and FB Corey White.

Defensive tackle Rodney Allen, center Junius Coston and long snapper J.J. Jansen were placed on injured reserve.

I'm surprised both Morency and Herron got cut, but very happy Lumpkin made it. That dude can run, and if Grant stumbles at all, watch fro Lumpkin to jump in there and not miss a beat.
Is DeShawn Wynn still there?
let go a couple days ago - just picked up Lumpkin to add to Grant and Jackson :goodposting:

Cowboy cuts:

RB Keon Lattimore
Look for the Ravens to try and bring him in or PS him if they can.
Being Ray Lewis's brother, I understand the correlation. Not real sure how much influence ole Ray has with the new regime though.Good point, we'll see.
Step-brother, IIRC.He also is a Maryland (Terp) alum.
they look just like each other. everything I've seen or read says they are brothers.here's an article on them from a couple years ago: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conte...5082901837.html

Even after Lewis became an NFL star and relocated his mother and siblings from Florida to Maryland, Lattimore was convinced he'd follow his brother's path to Miami, which recruited him as a defensive back. He even told Mike Working, his coach at Mount St. Joseph High, that he didn't want to be recruited by any other schools, that he bled orange.

"But as I got older I got tired of being in my brother's shadow, you know?" Lattimore said. "I wanted my own name. I wanted my own fame."

The name is not a problem; the brothers had different fathers and thus different last names, a fact that never diminished their relationship. The fame, though, is a different issue, and not just because of the brothers' resemblance.

In high school basketball and football games, "everybody knew who Keon's brother was," Working said. "Everybody in Baltimore knows who Keon's brother is."

The Saints have waived G Andy Alleman, G Tim Duckworth, LB Jo-Lonn Dunbar, WR Skyler Green, RB Lynell Hamilton, DT Orien Harris, LB William Kershaw, K Taylor Mehlhaff, TE Buck Ortega, QB Tyler Palko, DE Josh Savage, FB Olaniyi Sobomehein and WR Joe West.
Palko would be and NFL starter today if it hadn't been for two years under the tutilage of Dave Wannstadt.
His backup (Flacco) very well may be.

I finally got this updated and I am sure I missed a few. I did try and bold some of the notable names. Marcus Monk is the only player to appear twice on the list (Bears and Giants).

To continue the derailment of the thread.... and hopefully end it (the hijack, not the thread) - they are "half" brothers, not step brothers. My error in not using the accurate term.

Hey folks

Jesse chatman has NOT been cut by the jets - he is suspended 4 games for steroids violation. FYI.

This day always makes it interesting to think how GMs consider a pick a good one if they play more than 4 years.

Surprised that they would release Wynn over Morency.
I saw McCarthy had said Morrency looks the best he's ever been with the Pack
And yet they still released Morency too. That should tell you something about what they think of Lumpkin. I'm very happy they kept him, he's a hell of a runner.
Morrency improved, others seemed to have echod that sentiment. I do agree on Lumpkin, although I don't know much about him. It seems the Pack backfield improved this offseason. "Pretty good" was not good enough to make this team.

For those of you that care about the practice squads

8/31/2008 Seahawks signed to practice squad: S Jamar Adams, DT Kevin Brown, WR Michael Bumpus, CB Marquis Floyd, G Pat Murray, TE Joe Newton and T Kyle Williams.

Bumpus was an undraftedFA I believe and by all accounts had a fantastic camp and was pushing some of the other no name WRs Seattle had to choose from to fill out their roster.

Colts picked up DT Daniel Muir and LB Buster Davis - waived LB Ramon Guzman and S Silva. This will calm some fears of Colts fans about DT and LB depth.

Word from Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe is that the Patriots are cutting Chad Jackson today. :goodposting:
Surprised we haven't heard that Miami (who has first selection on players, right?) haven't claimed him and signed him yet. He'd start off as #3 WR for sure and eventually be starting I'd think. I'd think he's too good to wait after Week 1 to pay him the veteran amount of dough.

:goodposting: Bumpus looked really good in camp. I thought he'd make the team with the WR injuries when Obomanu went down, but they kept Forsett for the active roster. Might've been easier to sneak Bumpus thorugh to the PS.

Interesting move by the Packers today releasing linebacker Abdul Hodge - many had high hopes for Hodge but he had problems staying healthy and never really delivered on the promise from his years at Iowa.
