In real life 1977, catcher Gary Carter had a 33% caught stealing rate.
In WIS X 2008, catcher Gary Carter has an approximate 4% rating. I put it at about 2 of 50 steal attempts that Carter has thrown someone out in exhibition play. I don't think I'm stretching the truth all that much, either, that seems about right.
What. The. Hell. I am so sick and tired of watching baserunners have their way on the basepaths with me. I drafted Carter because of his solid defense and I got a season where he has a B+ arm. Does a B+ arm = F- arm in WIS? If you don't have at least an A- arm, does that mean you ain't ####? Is there a secret setting that I can enable that has the catcher ready at all times for a steal?
I hate losing games because apparently Carter has a dildo for an arm.

I think it has to do with who is stealing...you are only getting run on by the best of the best ever... so a mediocre arm is gonna get torched...
I'm pretty sure, however, that most everyone's catchers are getting killed...

My RAlomar got thrown out twice at 2nd in one game by Piazza.I don't think Piazza had a season where he threw out 2 people let alone 1 game.

Used to take 2 or 3 days after the divisions were set for the season to start. Seems to be a little quicker this time around, as the season is starting in 15 hours.For new WIS owners -- the "AM" games are simmed at midnight Eastern Time. The "PM2" games are simmed at 6 p.m. Eastern. Can't remember exactly about the "PM1" games ... early afternoon (1 p.m. Eastern, I think?).IIRC, you have to have any setting modification, lineup changes, etc. done about 45 minutes before the next game is simmed. Usually, I fiddle with settings, when necessary, in the mid-mornings, mid-afternoons, and before bed (if I can).It is definitely possible to get your settings just the way you like, and run on auto-pilot for a while. Still, it's prudent to at least check your players' fatigue levels once every day or two.Eephus said:

That's always the case in exhibition play, it's a small sample size. Things will even out during the regular season. There won't be as many steals or walks, those are the two things I see exaggerated the most in exhibition live play.

thanks. does this mean one could simlive that first league game tonight, sometime before midnight?even if not playing live yourself (blocked at work), is there some way/place to watch your game in progress as the computer sims it? or does it just post the box score after the game is completed?

Computer sims are just box score. In the past, you were not able to LiveSim the first game but that may have changed. After that, you can LiveSim ANY future game - only caveat is if you play live close to the scheduled time for that game, you may lose the results of the live game in lieu of the computer simming it during (or just after) your play.

For those who are playing me this first week, I am going to be in the Hamptons from tomorrow night til Sunday so I won't be able to SIM but after that I should be good to SIM almost any time unless something comes up.

Having my first chance to look at all of the teams, minus a few exceptions, it looks like hitting is pretty well distriputed. I really think that pitching is going to carry or sink a lot of teams. There are a lot of bad innings out there on a lot of teams (even the good ones). I think this league will be closer than everyone is saying it will be and there will be a couple of suprises.
Of course there is a good chance I have no idea what I am talking about, but I am curious to see how this ends up.

After using my team in SIM lvie and running some SIM matchup stuff I can assure you that I am going to struglle to reach .500 because of my bullpen. Guys I thought were going to be serviceable just arent. Unless everyone else has the same problems in their pen, this gonna be a long season for me. Cant go into years but you can look on my roster but any of:Steve CarltonStan CoveleskiDave SteibThey are all vying for my 3/4 starter roll and I dont need them all. OFs can include:Jeff Heath (best year, lots of XBHs, good avg/avg+, 152 SLG+ decent D)Lenny Dysktra - (best year, .427 OBP, very good steals, very good D)Frank Robinson - (middling year but very good plus numbers, 150 SLG+ and a zillion doubles)If its an uber blockbuster I would even consider trading rickey henderson... would likely need be a true top tier (or very very close) lefty with good avg and power. For the others, want a good lefty bat, and could go for a guy with a very good avg, a little pop and very good OBP in the OF.Would also look to get a top 3B where I could also include Aramis "38 HRs" Ramirez (batted .290, decent numbers accross the board with a lot of HR pop)

Can you play real games against teams that are not on your schedule for the most recent series?
Like Pik is my first series this season and like LB44 is my 4th I think. Can I SimLive with him and have it count as our series games in the future or can I only SimLive and have it count with my most current opponent?

So we can just jump back and forth within the schedule playing games up to the All Star break? That's cool. Now say I play you and our game is like game 20 of the season and I start Waddell. Will he be fatigued if I play game 1 of the season against Pik with him? Or does his fatigue not count until game 20 so I can't use him on game 21.

it inserts our game after the first game...So if we play right after game 1 is simmed... our game would be our game 2...

I belive that WIS counts fatigue in the order the games are played, so if you sim game 20 before game 2 the fatigue will be apartent in game #2. If you have the auto rests set the sim engine will rest anyone who is tired and move to the next person in the rotation or hierarchy.
