If Hillary dropping out is a possibility, I don't know if Kaine would be the option. Wouldn't the Democrats have to have a committee, similar to the Republicans, where they can nominate someone else... ie, Bernie Sanders? I don't think it would have to be Kaine unless it is after November and Hillary is the President elect.
