Official Travis Henry Thread (1 Viewer)

Mort just confirmed that not only is Henry going to play, but he's made it known he's willing to submit a hair sample and participate in a lie detector test to prove his innocence. :lmao:
Of course he is. It's probably been over 30 days since the positive test and it's out of his system already. Henry's a joke and he's a goner.
If I understand hair drug samples, it's like rings in a tree. The longer the hair, the longer back they can test. So how long is Henry's hair? (btw, I think they can do the test on pubes too :lmao: )

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Folks, I know this is a serious thread, but that was freakin funny! I thinkthe fact that a hair sample is alot more conclusive than a urine and blood test and a lie detector test as well leads me to believe that Henry may very well be clean. Much to the chargrin of the Selvin Young owners.

The significance of a hair follicle test is that it's far more accurate for duration. THC stays in your body much longer than 30 days, but urine tests are cheaper and far less invasive and thus, it's what's called for in most situations and was collectively bargained. If Henry really is willing to submit to a follicle test and comes out clean, that means he hasn't smoked weed in at least a year. Also, hair follicle tests can't be gamed like urine tests. It's comparing apples and oranges.

(12:34 p.m. ET) ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting Henry will indeed play Sunday. The NFL has not reviewed his suspension appeal. So he'll get one more week. However, the matchup (versus San Diego) is a tough one, and the team likely will use Selvin Young often to see what they have in the young back.

You might want to brush up on hair folicles and their relation to drug detection in the system before spouting off about it.
I was wondering if it is in there longer. Regardless, it's just another move to delay his execution from the NFL. It buys him more time if he can get this lame test done. He's guilty. This is all lawyer moves to kepp him on the payroll as long as possible. As you can see:Fox Sports' John Czarnecki reports Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry, who has filed suit in federal court questioning a positive marijuana test, could be facing a year's suspension. He filed suit in order to delay the league's actions because he has received only $1 million of his $6 million signing bonus. The next payment of $1 million is due on Oct. 15. Henry wants to be on the roster in order to collect.Delaying as long as possible to collect as much as possible.
What do you want the guy to do? It's not like he's 22 or something. Henry will be turning 30 in 10/2008. A year is a long time for a RB his age. He needs to get his while he can, and I have no problem with that. While he let a lot of people down, he still has the right to work until told otherwise.

Since I missed out on him in a league where you have blind bidding, I am def. hoping Henry = clean. A hair test would conclusively determine that. But, the CBA may allow the league to reject any subsequent testing and rely exclusively on its own urine testing. I simply don't know how it might work.

(hoping henry's clean so I can laugh at the person who spent $481 of a $500 yearly budget to acquire him)

I'd like to know if anyone knows what the CBA has to say about this. Can the league test hair, and give lie detectors?? If so I like Henry's offer here. I'm just curious as to if the CBA disallows this type of testing and Henry knows this.

There isno way the CBA would DISALLOW a more accurate test in favor of a less accurate one,But it might ALLOW the league to reject any subsequent testing after it conducts its own process.

Put it this way - if Henry is willing to give the Hair and take a lie detector test and the NFL rejects this, Henry would have a lot more ground to stand on in a lawsuit.

My understanding is the CBA only allows for urine testing, but does not disallow the admission of other tests if the player in question is willing. There's no way the players would allow for follicle testing to be mandatory, a LOT more people would get popped that way.

Can you to something like this if it's not a part of the CBA guidlines and rules. Goodwill seems to be a fair guy and would look for the truth in all of this. Does he make the final call? Or is he bound by specific restrictions in the CBA contract?

Exactly, Jason.

The NFLPA would fight very hard for the least intrusive test, given the NFL's extremely stringent drug policy. The NFL, OTOH, would probably want to leave itself leeway to do further investigation beyond urine tests if it obtained a positive urine test.

If those restrictions exist, that one.The NFL's CBA is one of the most rigid and certainly the strictest on drug use in all of sports.

The USOC might be a bit tougher.

From rotoworld.

Travis Henry is active for Denver on Sunday. Javon Walker is out with a knee injury, as expected.

Henry should get enough carries to be a worthwhile flex play, but we'd try to avoid using him as anything more than that. DL Antwon Burton, RB Mike Bell, S Steve Cargile, T Ryan Harris, TE Stephen Alexander, S Hamza Abdullah, and DE Simeon Rice are the other inactive players for Denver. Oct. 7 - 2:57 pm et

Not buying the bolded from Rotoworld. Why? I think they'll use their best players to try to WIN this week.

:goodposting: Good to know, I was curious as to if he was throwing out promises that basically mean nothing since they would not apply.

I find it comical. 4 days of #####in and neither guy shows up.
Yep. Comical is the word. All week all the talk about these two knuckleheads and neither of them does a dang thing on Sunday. Not only that but Henry plays anyway just like he has all year.

I see you're new here, so you might not have heard yet, but Denver has had some extreme struggles running against the 3-4 defense in the past. Dunno what it is about the scheme, but it's a real phenomenon and easily demonstrated. Both guys "showed up" as much as was to be expected given that Denver was facing a 3-4 defense.

Henry 14 for 51 yards.S. Young. 1 for 0. Rec - 4 for 20.Young has clearly arrived.
See the drug test means Young has arrived. Not that he was going to overtake Henry.. I hope you enjoyed your last week with Henry.. I picked up Young in 3 of 4 leagues.. 1 I drafted him and 2 off WW. I see Young as a top 15 RB going forward with Henry gone..

I own both. Was smart enough to take Brandon Jacobs for a spin over both of them and still lost to Kenton Keith. So, tell me all about Young again. :lmao:

An NFL source said Travis Henry is scheduled to take a polygraph test this week regarding whether he recently smoked marijuana.

Henry also is willing to provide hair samples for testing in an attempt to prove his innocence. The Denver Post also speculates that Henry could delay the process for another four or five weeks by appealing the outcome in federal court.

What does that have to do with Young and basically him not being involved??? This isn't a competition.. Its a fact Henry is facing a suspension.. Who is left???

That may have been your point of view, but many around here were saying Young would start cutting into Henry's carries, before and after the drug test news came out. Many felt he'd start getting carries prior to Henry being gone. It is funny how the guy is considered a lock to be a top 15 RB by so many just because of the system he plays in and because be has been good in spot duty. May he do well, yes. Is it a lock, no, far from it. It's worth picking him up because of the potential, but for people to say without question he's the next great RB, humors me. Good to hear you have Young though.

Wouldn't mind that at all. Work the system Travis!

Well Henry's pay means he was going to be #1 all year.. Those who had Young should have only been hoping an injury or something like this would happen.. I remember just before the season there was a run on Young and that mainly had to due with Henry injured. Now as it stands Henry is most likely done for the year unless he can some how delay then inevitable. Why he is fighting it so hard??? It's only going to make it harder next year since he won't be able to play for the first 5 weeks.

I agree. As a Henry owner I intended to handcuff with Young due to injury concerns, but due to strict roster sizes/set-ups I could not. If/When something happens to Henry, he should be the guy to have. I think Henry is fighting so hard because come 10/2008, he'll be 30 years old. Why wait, this could be his last chance. Maybe he feels he needs to get what he can now, because there will be no next year. Or maybe, wishing as much as I possibly can, there is some truth to his side of the story. Whatever that is.

Look Denver knew this was going to happen.. This is why Henry is fighting.. 3/5/2007: Signed a five-year, $22.5 million contract. The deal included an $8.5 million signing bonus and contains $12 million in total guarantees. Also included is a stipulation requiring Henry to pay back $6 million of his signing bonus if he's suspended for drugs at any point during the deal. 2007: $595,000 (+ $100,000 workout bonus + $35,000 per-game roster bonuses), 2008: $730,000 (+ $100,000 workout bonus), 2009: $1.375 million (+ $6 million guaranteed-for-injury option bonus due 3/1 + $100,000 workout bonus), 2010: $2.4 million (+ $100,000 workout bonus + $500,000 roster bonus), 2011: $3.9 million (+ $100,000 workout bonus + $500,000 roster bonus), 2012: Free Agent
