Auburn defensive lineman Sen'Derrick Marks said early Tuesday morning that he will enter the NFL draft, and announce it at a news conference later in the day.

"I can play both defensive tackle and defensive end," Marks said. "I want to be a player like Albert Haynesworth in the NFL. I know it's going to take hard work and dedication, but I'm going to bring my hard hat every day. I know that now, it's not just a game. It's a job. And I'm ready for that."

I saw a report somewhere that Shonn Greene has quit going to class and looks like he will declare soon.

From www.press-citizen.com:

Barely 15 minutes after the end of Iowa's Outback Bowl win, Shonn Greene answered the question of whether he is going to the NFL next year.Greene said that he is indeed going to forgo his final year of eligibility with the Hawkeyes and turn professional next season.Greene told the media after the Outback Bowl that he made up his mind two days ago, and presumably waited until after Iowa's final game to make his announcement."It's a great group of guys," Greene said after the game of his teammates. "I thought about it and thought about it and decided to take off and see what I can do."Now speculation shifts squarely to whether Kirk Ferentz will go pro as a coach. The Boston Herald reports that Ferentz friend Scott Pioli has been offered the job as new general manager of the Cleveland Browns. Ferentz told ESPN after the game that he hasn't spoken to Peoli in three weeks, but did say Pioli was a "great friend" before saying that this season was one of his favorites as a Hawkeye.

As an Iowa fan, I think most of us were expecting Greene to go pro. He outperformed Beanie Wells in most games against like opponents:

Greene The Beanie

vs. Minnesota 144 yds. 2 TD 106 yds. 0 TD

vs. Wisconsin 217 yds. 4 TD 168 yds. 1 TD

vs. Purdue 211 yds. 2 TD 94 yds. 0 TD

vs. Penn St. 117 yds. 2 TD 55 yds. 0 TD

vs. Mich. St. 157 yds. 0 TD 140 yds. 2 TD

vs. Northwestern159 yds. 1 TD 140 yds. 2 TD

vs. Illannoy 103 yds 1 TD 143 yds 1 TD

By comparison, Greene wins easily in 4 head-to-head matchups with draws in two and the Beanie only winning vs. Illannoy. If you say, "oh, but the Beanie was hurt", then that only proves that Greene is more durable as well. Greene is and will be the better back. I look for the stupid team to draft Wells over Greene just because he went to the farm-factory NFL and disappointing team tOSU!

Greene had TD against MSU too

watching moreno in the bowl, he is stating to give me the same talent/attitude that Tashard Choice gave me. I still believe Choice should have been a NFL great. That said, I will be trying to stay away from Moreno

So Shonn Greene dropped out of his classes and still got to play in a New Year's Day game? That seems pretty fishy. Doesn't the Deion rule apply to Iowa?

I remember Reggie Ball had to miss his bowl game for the same thing a couple of years ago.

Rutgers junior wide receiver Kenny Britt will announce whether he's leaving for the NFL draft or returning to school at a news conference at noon on Saturday.

Britt is already the Big East's all-time leader in receiving yards. He is widely believed to be leaning toward turning pro. But if he decides to return to school, that would make the Scarlet Knights one of the early Big East favorites in 2009.

Will watch this closely, I am really high on Britt. His hands are inconsistent, but I think he is going to be a great pro player.

Rutgers WR Kenny Britt will forego his senior season and has declared for the NFL draft.

Had 87 receptions, 1371 yards, 8 TDs this season. Good size at 6-4, 215 lbs too. Very interesting prospect for dynasty leagues :hot:
Definitely helps what so far appears to be a weak receiving class. I have a feeling he is going to run very fast at the combine as well. Right now he is my # 2 behind Michael Crabtree.
I don't think its that weak of a class as long as all the big junior players declare.Crabtree, Maclin, Harvin, Britt, Nicks, Heyward-Bey, Dillard, Gilyard.

I'd be pretty happy with any of those WR, except i don't really like Heyward-Bey personally.

Britt dropped a couple of balls early in the year, but the entire offense was off a bit.In the last 7 games, he caught everything thrown his way.

Some discussion around these parts that the Giants have their sights on Britt. I'd be surprised if they pulled the trigger on him in the 1st, but I don't see him lasting to the end of the second round. Physically, he's the beast:

Go to :45 mark

I don't think britt is a stretch as a first rounder at all.

Not a lot of top end talent there. Crabtree and britt can be # 1 wr's. Dilalrd, is painfully slow, although his route running and hands are elite. Harvin is not much of a receiver prospect. I do like what I see of Gilyard, although I think he is more of a slot guy.

I would say that there is a very good chance Donald Brown, RB, UConn will declare for the draft. He just went out on top with a bowl win and a 260 yard rushing performance. He has very little to gain by staying at UConn so he will probably come out.

Reports are that he might end up being a late 1st rder. He is 5-10/11 and 205-210 I believe but he squats 600 lbs and is gym rat.

Donald Brown just declared on local radio.

Late 1st, early 2nd rounder, IMO. He is going to be a good pro back.

That's because Iowa pretty much has nothing else as a weapon. I cannot even think of their QB's name. Greene had 1 year as a featured back. Wells ran like he did this year, while hurt, behind an average at best O-line. He makes an o-line look way better than what they really are.
Do you not realize not having a quarterback and running against 8 and 9 men in the box every play isn't a benefit to the RB? That is all Greene saw...also Greene did not stop attending class because if he had, his grades would not have met the requirement to play in the bowl game that Iowa has in place.

:lmao: Watched this guy today - granted it was Buffalo, but UConn attempted just 6 passes all day. Buffalo stacked 8-9 in the box and DB still ran for 261/1. Excellent patience and vision with a surprisingly quick burst. Watch closely where he lands.

This seems to have taken on a life of its own based on a couple of off the cuff comments by Todd McShay.Britt was suspended for one game this year for an unspecified team rule violation. To this day, there has been no explanation (another top player, LT Anthony Davis, was also suspended). It appears to be a message sent to them and the team after a poor start to the season. There has never been any indication that Britt was not a hard worker or had any attitude problems. As a matter of fact, he's never been described as anything but a humble, team-oriented player. Comes from a good family, father is a highly-respected HS teacher in his hometown.

I'd be very surprised if after the Combines anyone is questioning his character or work ethic. Schiano turns out high character guys. Think Brian Leonard, Ray Rice, Jeremy Zuttah, Gary Brackett

You maybe right, I don't know but I will be watching him closely.

Britt will be a stud. I would love to see the Vikings pull the trigger on him in the first. If teams look at the beginning of the year and discount him, that is a mistake. The whole team was off, partially due to Teel being out of sorts but more due to the O-Line not clicking.

Top College Receiver To Declare For Draft

From Next Level Scouting:

Next Level Scouting, Inc. is reporting that Texas Tech red-shirt sophomore wide receiver Michael Crabtree has informed several staff members of his intention to enter this year’s draft following the team’s Cotton Bowl loss to Mississippi. According to those close to the situation he should make his intentions known at an on-campus press conference sometime this week, but has already started to interview agents and put together a support staff for the purpose of training for the NFL Combine and creating PR and marketing opportunities for him.

Meanwhile, a second Texas Tech underclassman, junior offensive guard Brandon Carter, is waiting to see what type of grade he receives back from the NFL Advisory Committee before making a final decision, but is leaning towards entering the draft as long as they project him as a mid-round type selection.

Nicks reminds me of Boldin. Obviously he may never be at that level or have the same rookie impact, but in the right situation he might have one of the better impacts as a rookie. Great hands, good route runner, strength (good blocker), and can make things happen after the catch. These things make him a better candidate to start early and his lack of blazing speed may mean he ends up on a better team(with a decent QB).

 I am really starting to like Nicks. He has VERY good hands. Like Crabtree, Nicks catches everything with his hands. His style is very similar to that of Crabtree really.
