Well, that was quick...

On the same day Tanard Jackson was reinstated by the NFL, the Washington Redskins decided they no longer wanted him.

The Redskins on Tuesday terminated Jackson's contract, which was for the upcoming season and worth $700,000. The free safety had been suspended indefinitely on Aug. 31, 2012 because of a violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy. It was the third time the NFL had suspended him.

But the league confirmed Monday that he would be reinstated Tuesday. Earlier on Tuesday, Redskins general manager Bruce Allen said Jackson would undergo a physical and then meet with team officials. At that point, the Redskins decided to part ways with Jackson.

Time to throw out your thoughts on the draft. I am going to go out on a limb and say we trade our 2nd and 3rd to Arizona to move up to the late 1st and get Dix or Pryor. One of them should fall that far. Arizona can still get Palmers successor at #34.

I also think Cousins is going to get shipped on day 2. Some team will not get the qb they wanted (min, ten, stl). They will give up maybe a 3rd or 4th for cousins. I just think with a new coaching staff there's no reason to believe cousins has any value to the staff. It's really a good move if the skins can do this because he'll be gone next year for nothing so they have to get something for him now.

With the remainder of our picks I sense a QB, OG, C, and TE.

I know not in line with anything I've seen, but the skins need another impact player on D and they will not get it in round 2 or later. So I'll go out on a limb with a trade up, despite what Allen said in press conference.

I will go out on a limb than predict that the Redskins will draft a bunch of players I never heard of, and then claim they can't believe these players were still available when they were picking.

Seriously, I think the Redskins are much more likely to trade down. Apparently the draft is thin at safety and inside linebacker, areas of need for the Redskins. So their top picks are more likely to be OL, DL, and CB, where there is more depth in the draft. It is supposed to be a good draft for WR, so don't be surprised if they take a WR at some point.

For all the discussion of trading Cousins, Cousins has shown everyone that he is an adequate backup QB. If the Redskins really want to move him, they could probably get a 4th to 7th round draft pick for him. I don't see any reason to trade Cousins for that and hand the back up QB job to Colt McCoy before he has done anything for the Redskins. If McCoy beats out Cousins for the backup QB job in training camp, then I could see the Redskin moving Cousins near the end of summer.

Not that I know anything about the draft, but from the Mock's I have been looking at, Dix looks to be going 10-15 and Pryor 15-20. So I think they are either going to be gone by the late 1st or the Redskins are going to have to trade a lot

more than their 2nd and 3rd to get up to a position to take either one of those guys.

Yeah, I am just guessing so I could be wrong but I agree with Marvelous on both trading up/down and trading Cousins here. Seems more likely they trade back for more picks than trading up to me. I'd imagine Gruden wants to build a roster that he likes and having as many picks as possible is a great way to do that. Especially with no first rounder, I think they'll be hesitant to sacrifice pick quantity to pay to move up.

I'd expect them to seriously consider giving up Cousins if they were able to get a 2nd rounder or better, but there is no reason to think they'd get that IMO. There comes a point where it's more prudent to hold him as he is a young, cheap, competent backup and it seems like their starter is going to be an above average injury risk.

 
I would love for Bridgewater to fall to pick 34 and have the Skins trade down and pick up an extra 3rd and 5th round pick. Then trade Cousins for another 3rd round pick.

With our first three picks this would be so sexy.

2nd (where ever we trade down to) -CB Bradley Roby

3rd- S Deone Bucannon

3rd- ILB Chris Borland

Ok. Johnny Manziel falls to #34. Jerry Jones suddenly can't control himself and is still in shock that the passed on him in the first round. So the Cowboys trade their 2nd round pick, their 2015 1st rounder, and their 2016 1st rounder for #34 to draft Manziel.

Sean Payton then tries to implement a 2 QB system that is a complete fiasco and Dallas spirals out of control for the next two years. And both the Dallas first round picks the Redskins got end up being the top pick in the draft. The Redskins end up with two once-in-a-lifetime players to build around like the Nats have with Strasburg and Harper. Note that Scott Boras called both Strasburg and Harper once-in-a-lifetime talents when negotiating their contracts.

I was wondering the same thing...since we're clearly being a little crazy with that one, I'm going to hypothesize that they give up Orlando Scandrick, Terrance Williams, and the AT&T stadium Video Board in exchange for Payton and the rights to "Who Dat?"

I'm on the boat that says they will trade back if they can't get a guy who can help right now at #34. I don't see them trading UP (and I'm hoping they don't). I don't see Dix or Pryor falling to #34, but that's not saying there won't be somebody we want...but if there's somebody someone else wants, then I'm all for trading back. I think the odds of the #34 pick being coveted are high. If there's one benefit of this whacky multi-day draft concept, it's that the early 2nd rounders have more value because teams have all night to sleep on things, and guys who slip out of the 1st for whatever reason become targets, and teams want to trade up.

As for Cousins...IMO, it would be stupid to trade Cousins for less than a 3rd. As Ted Mullins said, he's a very good back-up, and until RGIII can prove he's not injury prone, he's needed. I feel much more comfortable with Cousins as a back-up than McCoy. If someone came and offered a 2nd round pick, I'd consider it...but I'm not as pressed to trade Cousins.

I think they go D with whatever their 1st pick is...I could see them taking a WR if one falls. I hope they focus on the secondary where possible.

 
Commemorating the anniversary of Sean Taylor's untimely passing isn't my cup of tea, especially with all the rest of the bad that's surrounded our franchise for close to the past 2 decades.

Man, I miss the good ol' days. Too bad that for the most part, we botched the use of that cornucopia of picks we acquired in that deal, and that was pretty much the beginning of the end of the halcyon days of yore. Maybe I don't miss 'em so much after all... :kicksrock:

 
Man, did the Packers luck out and get a gift with Clinton-Dix falling to 1.21...I had my eye on Pryor and him, and if either had fallen into the bottom 3rd of the 1st, I'd have had no problem at all with the 'skins taking a shot at moving up, wouldn't likely have been all that expensive to move up from 34 to 25...and as I type this, there goes Dennard at 1.24, which cancels out my next thought...and now Verrett at 1.25...Ohio State kid Roby still there, and a lot of quality Offensive Tackles...

 
...and that's what happens when 3 DB's go within 6 picks of each others, every Team starts paying a little extra attention to the position the run is impacting, and now we lose Deone Bucannon to the Cardinals at 1.27. That guy absolutely should have been right there waiting for us at 2.2. Crap...

 
Ward and Roby at 30 and 31 ... could it get any worse? Totally whiffed on moving up into that DB run, which would have cost next to nothing, and now that cupboard is bare, bare...then again, we did re-sign Tanard Jackson, right! As usual, we must know something no...one...else...knows...

If Vinnie was still around, I've no doubt Marqise Lee, would be ours. After, of course, we traded next year's 2nd Rounder to move up from 2.2 to 2.1 because the Texans would have played him like a fiddle that EVERY SINGLE TEAM was after that pick so they could draft the *NEXTBIGTHING* at WR who mysteriously fell out of Round 1 like a gift from heaven above...

Well, all is not lost. There are so many quality Offensive Linemen available it would be next to impossible not to draft a good one. Oh, wait...

Dude. Chill out. We were never moving up. There's PLENTY of talent left, and tons of it matches up with a huge area of need (OL).

You're having a mental breakdown over nothing. Why don't you wait until you see who we pick before you freak out.

 
Yeah moving up is a terrible idea. Bucannon or Roby would have been nice but it didn't work out. Take BPA on our board. Still some really good OL (not Moses please). There are some sick WR sitting there too.......

At the end of the first round the first 2 are gone already, aren't they? I was hoping Bucannon would slip to the Skins in the 2nd.

I soooooooooooooooooo wanted the Cowboys to take Manziel, just to watch the drama.

 
I'd take a third for him if their player is there but I know what you're saying. We're going to lose him for nothing maybe if he can go some place where he can compete for a starting job.

 
Not sure where they're going with this pick. Honestly wouldn't be shocked if they traded down. Still a good amount of talent available.

This is what I have been seeing too. I am personally pretty worried about his knees, although I admittedly don't follow college football closely enough and mostly just read up leading up to the draft.

This is what I am hoping happens if they don't have one player that stands out to them.

 
Heard John Keim on ESPN 980 and some other guy on the other station. They both said offensive tackle is where the value is in the draft now.

Keim said the Redskins were not locked in on RT with the 2nd round pick, but it may turn out that way based on how the draft developed.

Why on gods green earth would you trade away your security to ol swivel knee? It would make me happy but I'm curious to why a Skins fan would want Colt McKoy to be your back up?

if a good offensive lineman is there stay and take it. Skins are going to need to win shootouts in this division. Giving Griffin and Morris a better line sounds like a great start to me.
