PIC

20.02 - Yogi Berra (C, Yankees)

PIC
Been wondering for rounds when the heck Yogi was going to be picked.
He's a victim of normalization. Lots of good hitters during his era. I'm using him as a back-up plan for Lombardi, though admittedly I'm not so sure it shouldn't be the other way around. Either way, I hopefully have over 1300 usable catcher PAs to find 700.

I suck at drafting pitching, but my teams always rake. Whether or not my team will be better than average overall is anyone's guess.

From drafting him twice before, I'm quite sure Clemens will get bombed. Sorry man.

His HR/9 rate in Ebbets will probably be a nightmare. At least I have a lot of IP in the bullpen.

20.22 - Bob O'Farrell, C Cubbies

324/439/441 and an A+ arm. Sadly both of my catchers hit right-handed, but I like Bob, so eff it.

In July 1924, O'Farrell suffered a fractured skull when a foul ball broke his catcher's mask. He had asked a club house attendant to bring him a newer mask however, not wanting to delay the game, decided to continue to play with the older mask when he was struck in the head. He missed most of the season, and lost his job when future Baseball Hall of Fame member, Gabby Hartnett, played well in his absence.

In a 21 year career, O'Farrell played in 1,492 games, accumulating 1,120 hits in 4,101 at bats for a .273 career batting average along with 51 home runs, 549 runs batted in and a .360 on base percentage. He finished his career with a .976 fielding percentage. He led the National League three times in putouts and twice in assists. While with the Giants, O'Farrell caught Carl Hubbell's no-hitter on May 8, 1929. He caught for six pitchers who would eventually be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

After retirement he ran a bowling alley in Waukegan which was open for over 30 years. O'Farrell died in Waukegan at the age of 91.
That's two players I have now that ran bowling alleys after retirement.

21.03 - Harry Rice, C/1B/2B/3B/OF

359/450/568 Plays a number of positions very poorly.

7352 total PAs and still a 328/432/556 triple slash. The Ruth Effect™
