At least they didn't lose to Stanford, a 40 point underdog, at home. So they have that going for them. Which is nice!
They reason Wisconsin was ranked #5 was basically a combination of their preseason ranking and by default. Going into the season everyone figured the defense would be great and the offense would be good. Well, the offense is good but the defense stinks despite returning numerous starters from a year ago. Wisconsin will settle into their typical role of somewhere between 10 and 25. Unfortunately, they don't recruit well enough to sustain a top 5 rating. If they want to be a national power, they need to make a major recruiting push.
