Go Sox! I've got no clue what to expect from the Rockies, should be an interesting series.

If Beckett can keep things going, he's going to become Chuck Norris-esque in Red Sox playoff lore

Game 1: Beckett vs. Francis: Red Sox 13 - Rockies 1

Game 2: Schilling vs. Jiminez: Red Sox 2 - Rockies 1

Game 3: Matsuzaka @ Fogg: Red Sox 10 - Rockies 5

Game 4: Lester @ Cook: Red Sox 4 - Rockies 3

If you were a real Sox fan you would know that we took two out of three in June - beating Beckett and Schilling - losing to Wakefield.

Huge factor will be the 9 day layoff for Colorado. Resting.. but losing momentum. Boston's offense is going postal right now.

Another big factor... RSN travels VERY well.. I'd wager Denver will be 25-40% Sox fans.... There might be 20-25 Rockies fans in Fenway.

Go Rockies! Boston has it too good in the sportsworld right now

Hopefully this long layoff does not cool Colorado down..winning 21 of the last 22 that is nuts

Schilling then <> Schilling now; Beckett then <> Beckett in the post season. Wakefield needs to tire the hell out of his arm so that the knuckleball gets some movement.

If there's anyway to prove this, I'd be happy to take that action.
St Louis is much more of a baseball town that COL... and a buddy who went to the WS in 04 in the Lou said there were a ####LOAD of sox fans... no way to prove it. WIll have to hear how the stadium sounds on TV. I AM pricing tickets out though.... met a guy out 2 nights ago who is duck hunting buddies with Papelbon... gonna have him try to call in tickets for game 5. We'll see....

Like I said, Cleveland seemed like it was 100% tribe. And this is the Series. People aren't just going to be turning over tickets.

And if you knew jack #### about baseball you'd know that means jack #### in the postseason :goodposting:
Well it looks like the original poster had no idea what to expect from Rockies. I found that odd as usually most Red Sox fans I know can tell me what happened during the 5th inning of a game against the Blue Jays in August. I do know Jack #### about baseball. Let me know what you want to know about the Rockies. You guys need to calm down - wow!

Sox fans think just because a handful of sad, desperate New Englanders with money to burn handed over their life savings for WS tickets in St. Louis in '04, that will happen again. I doubt it.

Yea, that's what it was. ;)
Yeah. That's what it was. It was only all over national radio & TV.
Go to any park in the country during they year when the Sox are playing...there are always many, many Sox fans. So yes, during the world series there were alot of Boston fans....as there will be this year as well.

Pittsburgh Steeler syndrome. Your city sucks and many of your people have dispersed. You must be very proud.I predict the Rockies will be pretty well supported at home. You should just focus on who's the better team, which IMO is probably the Sox.

Please don't compare Boston to Pittsburgh....thanks.

In terms of major metropolises, Boston ranks dead last for me. And the rest of MA is pretty gross too. I don't blame the people who move away from there.I've been to every major city in the Northeast, I think. I'd rather live in Pissburgh in a heartbeat.

I realize that my opinion from Boston isn't the norm. But Red Sox fans haven't always been a noticeable presence at other parks. Maybe the change had something to do with an owner that started investing more heavily into the club? It's pretty funny to hear about how passionate and diehard Boston baseball fans have always been, and how the Buckner game was so agonizing to so many Sox fans, when they only averaged 25K a night that season. The Clemens start where he K'd 20 was only something like 14K, no? Guess a lot of people hopped (back) on that year. I remember a lot of people hopping on in 2004 as well. :hot:

Wow, Rockies getting no respect in here. I realize the long layoff can affect some teams, but don't tell me you're disregarding a team that has won like 817 of its last 818 games and didn't lose a game in the first two rounds of the playoffs. Rockies are an outstanding defensive team, they've got a terrific bullpen, and their offense is right there with anyone in baseball. Or do the stats of Holliday, Atkins, Hawpe, Tulowitzki, Kaz, Helton not count for some reason?

I'm not saying the Rocks will DEFINITELY win or anything. But I slept on the Marlins in 2003 thinking that the WS was but a mere formality because the *real* series was Yanks/Red Sox. Well, Florida shut us up pretty good in six games. This looks to be a very similar situation to me, and Sox fans would do well to not sleep on this Colorado team. Seems like some people on this board didn't watch very much of the NLDS/NLCS methinks.

Easy on Boston and Massachusetts as a whole. I migrated away but I would not call the place a ####hole. It's actually a beautiful area of the country.

I lived in the bleachers as a kid watching cats like Oil Can, Clemens, Dewey, Rice, Greenie, Lyons (a personal favorite) and Baylor. When the can or Clemens were pitching the place was usually packed. The sox were painful back then but it was still the best way to spend a weekend afternoon. Of course people hop on, but The Nation has been strong throughout the 90's to the present day.Funny I was at a party here in Denver tonight and this guy's like "I wonder how big of a favorite the Rocks will be?" and all these local boneheads were chiming in "We'll be a pretty heavy favorite" I was shocked. At my pool league, same thing "Doesn't matter if it's the Sox or Cleveland The Rocks will probably sweep". I think the Rocks are tough and a cute story, but I will be very surprised to see them send it to 7.

No. No, it isn't. Vermont/NH/Maine = beautiful.Massachusetts = filthpile.
Where were you? Lowell? Springfield? Fall River? Boston is not filthy.
I visited, never lived there. The Cape is a nice place. The rest of the state, Boston in particular, I could go my entire life without ever setting foot in again. Springfield is a dump.

I have no idea what to expect from the Rockies, and neither do you. It's not like they've got a lot of post-season experience on this team. Plus coming off such a long layoff, who knows how they'll react.I'm well aware than COL came into Fenway and took 2 of 3, but that was then and this is now. And that's why they play the games. Otherwise, Vegas would just give this thing to the Sox in 5.

Actually, Mass has a lot of nice areas...sounds like you didn't visit them. Next time you are in town let me know and I can hook you upI will link some photos I took mountain biking last weekend at Wompatuck, pretty amazing scenery

 You can never get too much love from the sports Gods. We've sacraficed virgins over the 50 years with no result. It's only logical that we get paid pack in championships.

The Sox aren't facing the diamondbacks. Colorado had no problem selling out everything for the NLCS - same thing here.

This has the potential to be a really fun World Series. I'm gonna root for the Rockies in 5, but my gut tells me Sox in 6.

Yeah...the Yankees going 7-0 against the Indians in the regular season proved how much the regular season matters :goodposting: Seriously, I think the Rockies are playing much better than they did back in June and this will be another 6 or 7 game series. Hopefully, Colorado's pitching will come back down to earth because their offense is downright scary.I'll say Sox in 7.

I agreeMarlins in 2003 however had a much better pitching staff. Rockies are outstanding defensively, and have a capable offense. Very well could put a test to the Red Sox. Rockies hitters get on base, which is huge. I doubt Helton is going to go Hafneresque during the WS, considering he's waited his entire career to get there. Holliday is an uber-stud. Atkins, Tulowitzki and Hawpe are certainly capable. But, the Red Sox hitters get on base too....and their pitching advantage is pretty significant over Colorado. I give the Rockies a much better chance than I did the Cardinals against the Red Sox in 2004. I'll say Sox in 7 here.

There is no doubt that the sox attendance numbers at fenway are increasing with the new ownership finally investing a little cash in this club but you gotta understand that the fanbase is spread all throughout New England. I know out in Uxbirdge where I grew up we'd watch the sox probably 3-4 nights a week during the season. We didn''t go to a ton of games because it's a 2+hr commute into the city (though we definitely went to a few) but we lived and (more typically) died with the team every year. I think that is pretty common up there. Even during the duquette ara everyone wore sox caps from Connecticut to Maine, and the primiary water cooler chat was always the Sox. Now rest assured I'm not saying there haven't been a sizable influx of bandwagonners now... and the success of the team and improved marketing by the new management has helped fill the park on a consistent basis.... but the fan base has always been there and always following the team. Unfortunately if we win another Series the resulting media crush due to the Sox/Pats successes will snap the axles of this bandwagon. :(

Point is Sox fanbase is much larger and there are a LOT of tickets out on ebay / stubhub / etc. Many folks are cashing in and I think Sox fans are much more likely to pony up. I know a large contingient planning on going up to Denver from San Diego (Huge sox fanbase there). The 40% number is likely high but I would NOT be surprised to see 20-25%
