I really dont understand why people are gonna ##### and moan if we lose this series. I guess the frustration of some of the previous Yankees teams carries over but this is a good Cle team. Yanks are probably the 4th or at least 3rd best team in the playoffs this year. I never thought this series would be easy and its not over yet.
because they
SHOULD win these games. you can say it's just #####ing, but the $$ they spend says they should win these games. that's it. nothing else. anything but a WS win is a
FAILURE to this team. that must suck.
I love the money excuse.
it's not an excuse. it's a fact. next year if the devil rays dropped 200M down on the payroll they would be expected to win & win big. when you outspend your nearest competitor by 30% you will run into words like "should win". like i said, it must suck to be on that team & fail. unless you're just there to collect a paycheck...of which i think there are a few on that team.
So if the Sox lose they fall into the same category? It kind of takes away from any spendthrift team that beats a money team doesn't it? I would figure that every player in the MLB wouldn't try to use this excuse. You can lose a game by your own mistakes and ineptitude. You can also lose a game by another team being better than you. That another team is better than you has nothing to do with your payroll.
to a certain extent, in regards to the sox, yes. it was a ####### travesty that we missed the playoffs last year! 3rd place, with that kind of payroll, ridiculous. but it's still not even close to the yanks.it's like the usa basketball team. how on earth do we ever lose? until the yanks stop buying every big name thet can get their hands on, not only will they probably not win, they will continue to be hated.
First of all, trying to argue the Sox payroll versus the Yanks payroll is like arguing whether you want to get hit by an atomic bomb or a neutron bomb.....alot of people don't see the difference and the difference doesn't really matter. I don't think there are many fans who feel for the plight of the poor Boston RedSox and their noble endeavor to try and keep up with the Evil Empire. They just see a Slightly Less Evil Empire. Secondly, there is a big difference between the Yankees and USA basketball. If MLB contracts were voided every year and players free to go wherever they want...yes that would be a serious problem as a team with the resources like the Yanks could build a legitimate All-Star team year after year. That being said, the funds available do give the Yankees an advantage... it lets them bury mistakes better than other teams. But it doesn't give them a significant advantage...particularly when other teams combine making smart roster decisions with reorganizing their organizations to win with youth. Personally, if I were fans of other MLB teams, I would love it if the Yanks continued to utilize the "throw #### against the wall to see if sticks" mentality of building a roster ( I think that that has kind of stopped though), because if they significantly changed their organization to better mine for youth, the money the team makes could hold onto those players indefinitely and seriously upset the balance of the game. It does not let them however field a better team. And as far as the "Should make the playoffs", "should make the World Series", "should win the World Series every year" comments.....those are just dumb....when they are both said by Yankee fans and echoed by Yankee haters. Just within the playoffs of the past few years we've see how Bartmans, Meirs, Canadian Soldiers, K-Rods, Idiots, Becketts, Zumayas and a number of other relatively uncounted on entities change playoff games and series.
