***Official Yankees vs. Tigers ALDS Thread *** (1 Viewer)

I'll be pissed if they trade Alex. I will also be pissed if they trade for or buy a few more 38+ year old aging one time stars.
Who would trade for Alex? Seriously? What's his contract status? Not to hate, because I can commiserate in a way, but I hope the Yankees keep on rotting with that ridiculous albatross of a contract that they should have let the Rangers choke on for years.
4 years left, with the Yankees being on the hook for approximately $64M. I don't know how that breaks down year by year.
That breaks down to HAGSx4

Double play ball from A Rod would be icing on the cake.
Missed it by a foot.I hope he does get traded on the offseason. Guy gets no credit and constantly takes it on the chin. Trade him to a team that will let him move back to shortstop where he belongs. He is not a good fit in NY and I don't see it getting any better for him there.
Agreed.-fe
What team can honestly take his contract or more importantly would want someone who nobody seems to like in baseball? Ever heard one player really stick up for him while he played for SEA/TEX/NYY?
If Tejada gets moved in the offseason for some prospects that has been talked about for the past two years it would free up a lot of money. I would have no problem having ARod coming to play in The Yard. I bet there is half a dozen other teams as well that would welcome him. Rangers ate part of his contract and I'm sure the Yankee's will do the same if they move him.
Tigers really wanted him when you guys signed him. Tigers also have the prospects to give if it doesn't include Cameron Maybin.

What else can they do though? NOBODY is going to trade super young/cheap players so the only thing George can do is overpay for stars in their decline. No shocker they haven't won a WS now in years.
I'm fine with not doing anything except letting the guys whose contracts are up (Sheffield) go, trying to dump some of the older guys if we can, sign some young but unproven guys and call up what's left of the minors that can compete. I said three years ago after the Marlins beat the snot out of that team that they should take a moment and stop this continual building of the Roman Empire that they are doing because all it will do is collapse, and just as hard as the actual Roman Empire. They didn't listen to me then, and now look. Since 2003, we have the greatest post season collapse of all time; well over a quarter billion dollars spent on players that seem to not have the heart that guys like Charlie Hayes and Tino Martinez had; and what will soon be consecutive years of first round exits.Don't trade Alex, don't fire Joe. Moose's contract is up - let him go. Sheff is gone. Try to get Melky more playing time. Bring up some young pitching. Build the entire organization again - the organization that gave me the 3rd greatest gift of my life, the 1996 World Series.

And BTW I've never had anything against Yankees fans. In general they know and love the game. I hate Sawx fans much worse.
:goodposting: All kidding aside, I agree. Sox fan's are the worst because they have the "little engine that could" bit and always piss and moan that the Yanks spend more and it's so hard to compete meanwhile the difference between the Sox team salary vs. just about every other team is just as wide. It's like someone worth 200 million crying cause they don't make as much as Bill Gates

Just for the record when the Tigers got Casey at the deadline I said in the Trade Deadline thread that that move will be considered one of the better ones of the deadline when we look back. Most responses disagreed.I win.I wish I was wrong right now.
Psst: It's Tigers pitching, not Casey, that's going to send your team home.
Psst: if you've read anything Iv'e written in this thread, you wouldn't be pssting me.

Someone should write a book on the Marlins. 2 WS with two completely different teams, completely gutted and spent pennys.

Maybe we should make a deal. Let me go down into my basement and take the gag off of Angelos's mouth. I'll report back.

Why take on Arod and his salary when you don't even need him to win a WS? Same with Giambi? Same with Abreu? Same with most "big hitters". That doesn't win WS.

:coffee:PM your offer and I'll take it to Dave and Mike.

It's typical that everyone focuses on the Yankees themselves collapsing whenever they lose instead of the other team on the field. The Tigers are playing great baseball and the pitching staff looks absolutely great.Give them some respect. They deserve it.
Yeah, sure. Good job Tigers. But, the real story here is the choking, gutless, heartless, soul-less, vapid waste of money performing as the NY Yankees.

wahTime to break up that squad of choking underachievers and get some pitching in there. They had no chance trotting Wright out there today. None. Horrible move not bringing Wang. And what is up with benching Sheffield & Giambi on back to back game. Horrible moves there.

can't argue with that. Tough to simply shrug it off that the Yankees performed another all time choke job, not as bas as what happened against the Sox but right behind it.

Arod in the postseason career -- 4 for 26 with RSIP, 0 for 16 with RISP and 2 outs.

I think that sums up everybody's arguments on him, ARod fans.

Bonderman goes seven and gives up one run. Great show Jeremy.
Even though they're up big, I'd like to see Zumaya come in and mow some dudes down. :banned:
He's a terribly talented young chap. The funny thing is a lot of good baseball fans had never seen him before this series. A guy I work with came to me after game two and said, "You gotta be ####### kidding me." The future is bright in the D.

Be nice B to the double S. Don't want to be like Twins fans were last week.

I am sure you'll get more meaningful "Arod vs. the worst teams when they are up double digits" stats pretty soon.Again, hitting a HR in a tie game or down in a postseason > hitting a HR vs. the Rays when your team is up 8 - 2 doesn't mean the same to me.

I disagree about Wang. Go look up his numbers on the road this year. :dead:

Im really being critical of Torre here, I think he made some awful moves. but the whole it's not what the Tigers did, it's the Yanks choking it, is a joke. our pitchers dominated them. Greatest lineup ever my ####.

:goodposting: I actually liked Tigers going into the postseason and think except for Yankee fans, everyone else was pulling for Detroit.Great job Tigers, way to kick their asses!
Everyone always pulls for the team playing the Yankees. Goes with the salary number.
Outspent Tigers by 70 million...
More like 170 million.

they are close. era's within .15 of each other, 19 wins vs 15. Moose of course more K's.

Bonderman is my favorite player and to see him do that makes this game that much more special. In 2004 I watched every one of the teams games and I watched Bonderman closer than anyone else. He is severely under appreciated in Detroit and I'm just glad he came through when it counted.

This is seriously CRAZY though. Who really gave the Tigers any chance?

Mike and the Mad Dog gonna be fun.

Wins can mean you have great run support/bullpen, they're not a good indicator of how good a pitcher is.Did you happen to take a gander at WHIP or opponent batting average?

Bonderman is dyslexic?

A good manager would know that and make all the lefties bat righty and vice versa. ****ing Torre.

did you know that Mrcus Tames mom was paralyzed? I did not until game 2........guldurn Olympic style coverage is ruining my Tigers buzz.
