***Official Yankees vs. Tigers ALDS Thread *** (1 Viewer)

This series is exhibit one why a 5 game series is BS.
Why? Were the Yankees unaware of the 5-game rule or something?
For one I think more playoffs = good. Baseball can play basically every day so two more days might extend the whole playoffs 3 more total days.If the home team gets split at home then they can get closed out on the road. Home field is less of an advantge since in 7 game series with a split you get at least one more game at home to get it to 2-3 at least. It benefits the team with a major stud ace as you can throw that guy two times and magnify the differences between rotations if one team has a super-ace and then a bunch of spares vs. a team with all decent pitchers.
:loco: before the wildcard, the NL and ALCS were all 5 game series..
No, they changed to best of 7 back in 85.
true, but my point is baseball has survived 80+ years playing 5-game series..

Yankees fans are now finding out what it's been like to be a Cardinals fan all these years. No Heart is right. The D-Rays would beat you right now, just on sheer desire.

A little part of me (a very little part) wants to see Bonderman pitch a perfect game and ultimately digrace this Yankee team.
I don't know why it's a big part. We're going to lose. Let's do it in spectacular fashion again, while we're at it? I mean, you can never match the heartless, gutless collapse against the Sox. But, this would be a good consolation prize.

The fewest runs the Yankees have scored in consecutives games this season is two. In 96 games, New York scored 5 or more.
Who cares.Blatant homerism and your fantasy stat analysis are not really in agreement with what we are seeing on the field. At some point, you need to become objective.Just like your apologies for A Rod. The guy makes you cream your pants because he puts up great fantasy numbers. At some point you just gotta acknowledge that the guy is not a winner.
Another guy that has a hard on for A Rod and his fantasy numbers. Not surprised you would roll your eyes.

I don't know how Kenny Rogers and Jeremy Bonderman got injected with Ervin Santana's DNA.
When Jeremy Bonderman is on, he's nasty. You guys are running into two great pitching performances, and a team with nothing to lose. Nothing more. I love it b/c the Yankees will overreact and deal ARod b/c of this and it will set the franchise back 5 years.

Agreed, the Tigers are doing nothing right now. Very lucky to be playing the Yanks instead of the twins. Anyone could beat the Yanks right now.:sarcasm:The Yankees are playing poorly, but don't discount how well Detroit's playing.

USA TODAY

Says here the Rangers payed 67 million and the Yanks owed A-Rod 112 millions over 7 years. That would be 16 per.
Ok, so the yanks are paying a bit more than I thought - but still FAR less than the total. If the yanks kick in 4 Mill a year (and they certainly can afford it) then you have a guy at 12 Mill who would still command a lot more on the open market.

I'm a big believer in statistics explaining just about everything that happens on a baseball field, and that a lot of so-called clutch or non-clutch play is random variance and selective memory...

But this is just nuts. A perfect game through 5 against this lineup? This is no coincidence.

I love the Arod is not a winner. Just like Marino was not a winner, Peyton Manning not a winner, Ernie Banks not a winner . . . etc. This is a TEAM sport. The Yanks aren't losing solely because of Arod, they are losing becuase their total roster is not playing well, save for a couple players.

Arod is going to finish his career as the best baseball player of All Time, and I am a Red Sox fan stating this, no bias here.

:lmao: I was thinking the same thing.. A-Rod is a great player, as long as you don't need him to produce in the CLUTCH!

Why is Detroit playing so well right now? Answer that, and you have my point.

I'll go to the Tiger boards later but...

...to all the Tiger fans who said Bonderman was #### you can kiss his ###.

Six- nothing. GO TIGERS!

Just stop right there. No more needs to be said.

Someone tell this hack announcing team that "taking the extra base" is generally reserved for the batter, not going first to third. One more annoying thing on a pretty unreal afternoon.

God this is a sickening lot. Bruney, Melky, Jeter, Mo and Cano, and you can nuke the rest of this punch of punks. Yeah, Posada and Abreu too.

Torre doesn't see the end of 07. Showalter or Lou will return next year.

I'm here by the way. Don't want anyone to think I'm hiding. I'm rewriting my baseball league's constitution and the guys in the league want like 10 things put to a vote before we finalize it at the end of the MLB World Series.

The Yankees really have no soul.

Too bad Theo came up a little short two years ago trying to get ARod, or else you'd be swinging from his nutsack. We can either judge ARod on a couple of soft postseason showings, or we can look at the totality of his career that screams greatest hitter/player of all time.

Babe Ruth will always wear that crown pal. And as long as those people are alive who watched A-Rod play live, that myth will never gain traction.

Best baseball player ever? He's not even better than Pujols. Simmer down there, sparky. And the extra point is...GOOD!

What a gutless bunch of stooges.

Yep-- you can tell by all of those rings on his hand!

What a gutless team, a team that includes a lineup made up of ALL All-Stars! Not one, two, three or four players but ALL OF THEM and they are going to lose three in a row?!WOW!

7-0 and stoppikng me from wathcing my wolverines cuz i just catn bring myself to change the channel. I want the Tigers to win, but to embarass the Yankees, oh my god that is like sex adn then she says she doesnt want to cuddle, but wants to bring you a sandwich and a beer and watch football afterwards.

Care to compare their all time stats? Pujols is unbelievable, the best hitter in the game today. We are talking about careers, so try to keep up sparky.

The MLB playoffs is always the twilight zone.

Gotta admit... that was a pretty strange statement for a Red Sox fan, or anyone, to make.
