Oh Percy Me! (1 Viewer)

Hmm, looks like my players are selectively dropping out so I don't screw up my line-up this week (was debating him vs Charles this week as a flex)

Looks like even if he plays it might be a good idea to sit him , anyone got some alternatives in mind. I picked up devan bess but really wanted to play Harvin.

Updating an ongoing story, Rick Alonzo, of the Pioneer Press, reports Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin (migraines) missed three days of practice this week because of migraines. Harvin is listed as questionable for the game, but head coach Brad Childress will have to make a decision to activate him for Week 14. Childress said earlier this week that Harvin wasn't able to study the game plan while dealing with the migraines. Harvin has dealt with migraines earlier this season and gone on to play in games, but he never missed this much practice before.

This is strange. I used to get migraines so bad I'd literally want to kill myself. But if you get some sleep in a completely black room, it usually goes away in less than a day. Not to mention that he has access to the best meds and doctors money can buy. I wonder if there is something more serious going on.

:lmao: I, too, have suffered from severe migraines in my life (appears to be a genetic thing, runs in my mom's side of the family).Anyways, RN is right a day of complete silence/dark and sleeping usually cures these for a few weeks until the next occurs.IMO, sounds like complications from a concussion. Multiple, serial migraines are a common side effect from a brain trauma. My :D

This stinks! He's been an awesome flex option all year for me. Need him bad for Sunday's playoff battle.

You're assuming he gets to spend a day in the dark and silence, and I think your armchair diagnosing is biased from your desire to see Rice's #s improved should Harvin sit.

No one will believe this but I have a PhD in Human Genetics and the focus of my thesis was migraines. 72 hour migraines are extremely rare. It may not be post concussion trauma but it is likely that something else is impacting this.Anyone know how often he had migraine problems back in Florida?

I don't have a PhD in anything, and don't know a thing about migraines, other than they hurt... a lot, but I imagine anyone suffering from a migraine for five days is probably laying in a hospital bed doped up on pain relievers. If he misses this game, it's because he hasn't had enough time to study the game plan. However, even so, he knows his routs and I doubt he misses the game at all, other than a few plays.

These things are so dependent upon the individual and their environment that is impossible to suggest a proper course of treatment or predict an outcome sitting in a room 3000 miles away from Harvin. My initial thought is that it would be surprising for him to miss the game due to physical limitations arising from a headache that started early this week. However it appears that Percy may be an extreme case and if it caused him to miss sufficient practice time you never know.

Being a sufferer of migraines for over 20 years now, I can say that migraines can last for multiple days. The question comes down to if it's the same one or cluster headaches which are just as bad and can last much longer. Usually I take a prescription drug and the migraine is gone in about 2 hours. Typically they'll flare back up the next two days in which sometimes I can suffer through them, but usually it's another pill and then I'm good for about 2 weeks before the cycle starts again. It may be that migraine medicine might have some component that's on the banned substance list, but I have no idea whether it does or not. In any event, assuming the episode is over and it's not concussion related, he should probably play, but may be limited because of not knowing the gameplan.

how does a WR's knowledge of game plan come into consideration? the play gets called, he runs his route or blocks his assignment. what am i missing?
