Ok with Henry a Bronco, where does this leave.......... (1 Viewer)

GB needs a back but they are not going to spend this type of money. With the rich draft class next year, I could see them offering a 2 year deal to Brown or Buckhalter. The current situation in GB is silent re-building. This team is going to be fairly stocked once Favre retires in a year or two. I can see Thompson being 15-20 million under the cap next year as well.

The job openings are seriously drying up. My guess is this going to make it tough to trade a RB so T. Jones and McGahee might end up staying put. It means that guys like Rhodes and Chris Brown will have to settle for situations like the Giants perhaps where they will have competition for carries and probably will be in more of a RBBC situation.

It would not surprise me if GB waits until after the draft in case Lynch is there best option. If they draft differently they may then sign a guy like Chris Brown or TJ Duckett if still available.

I said in another thread that I thought Rhodes would stay in Indy, it's getting closer to being a reality. Yes, the Giants may still sign him, but maybe not. I would be very happy if he stays in Indy.

Who will go where now??
McGahee - Stays with Bills. Bills won't get what they want for him.T. Jones - Think he might stay in Chicago. As with McGahee, not going to get what they want for him. JETS :)

L. Jordan - Should get cut, then think he will probably resign with OAK, or maybe return to NYJ.

J. Lewis - Returns to Baltimore

D. Rhodes - NYG, Ind, or maybe Ten....

C. Brown - NYJ, Cle, or maybe KC....

I haven't heard any Musa Smith talk. Some team willing to take a chance on him? Don't think he'd step into a featured roll but he's shown flashes in preseason games and the Baltimore backups have history.

It actually wouldn't surprise me if they passed on Lynch. If the Packers can sign Brown to a reasonable 2 year deal, I could see them passing on Lynch and drafting Nelson or Meachum. The draft next year is a strong rb group and there will be value in round 2 at rb to fit the zone blocking scheme.

Don't the Jets need a RB too?
Yes, but they're also not going to break the bank for one. They have two decent (if not spectacular) guys with Washington and Houston, and seem OK with the committee approach.Outside shot is that they trade for Turner after he signs his tender, but they're not going to mortgage their draft for him.

I think TJones will have to go to either the Jets or the Giants. I doubt the Bears trade him to a conference rival in GB. Maybe if the Raidahs cut Jordan he could be traded there, but the more I look at this, the more I see RBBC in Chicago again.....

my predictions:McGahee staysTom Jones stays Jordan staysJamal resigns in BaltRhodes is a NYGC.Brown in GB
This is as good of a set of guesses as anyones, but the last two situations could be easily reversed. Brown has more big play ability than Rhodes, which is a nicer contrast to Jacobs in New York; IMHO Rhodes would be a better fit in GB with Morency given that he can pound the ball a bit more and take some of the strain off of Morency, which would address doubts about Morency's durability.

The team that nobody's talking about right now for RB's is New England, which is odd given that they just cut Dillon and have been more active than just about anyone in free agency to date. This would be a classic move on their part to wait until the first free agent RB's sign before coming in late and grabbing someone like Rhodes or Jones for a relative bargain price.

They grabbed Sammy Morris, and they still have H.Evans K.Faulk and P.Pass...so i dont know if they will shell out some more loot in the FA rb market.

I forgot about Morris. :lmao: Was Morris signed for so much that he couldn't be affordably cut during camp if they wanted to?

Right now it seems the bigger question is who potentially could bring in a new starting RB.

Baltimore

Buffalo (even if McGahee stays put, you never know)

Cleveland (looks like Peterson here, but they could pass)

Jets

Oakland

Tennessee (may not be quite ready to hand over the reigns to Lendale)

Atlanta (wild card here that no one is talking about much - new staff may not be enamored with Dunn/Norwood)

Green Bay

Giants (RBBC with Jacobs)

I agree with this. With Rhodes receiving skills and relatively cheap price I'm surprised GB isn't looking at him (as far as I know). I think he & Morency would be a decent 1-2 punch.I don't think GB can put their eggs in the Lynch basket. It doesn't seem like he's going to be their at 16 and Thompson doesn't like to trade up.

Good question but they signed him quickly, Morris has backed up a lot of RB so he is comfortable with who he is...I think NE fully expects to have him on the roster on opening day...my .02

i've sinking feeling, Dom Rhodes, might get left out in the cold.... back to indy...

-rhodes owner hoping he'd end up somewhere to compete...

You can just feel Rhodes, Lewis, Brown, & Dillion getting desperate out there.

This is a good chance for some team to get lucky... kinda like the prom, when after all the popular chicks have a date, some decent looking chick will be all too eager to jump on the next dork that asks(Cleveland).

Rhodes is the only one with a chance to go somewhere and be "the guy" IMO. I think Green Bay and Cleveland might roll the dice with one guy and back him up with someone in the 4th round or later or an equivilant vet.

Baltimore still needs to get someone in, but I suspect they'd prefer Lewis back at a reduced price.

If Chris Brown and Corey Dillon are waiting for someone to give a 5 year deal with very little competition on the roster, they may be asking for too much.
