Older audio receiver with newer bluetooth? (1 Viewer)

I have speakers and receiver system from the early 2000's.

It is a 5.1 receiver and a set of 6 speakers (2 fronts, 2 rears, 1 center and 1 woofer).

All speakers are hard wired from the back of the receiver through a patch panel in the wall and then sent out to the speaker locations through the wall and ceilings with speaker wire.

Is there any conversion box I could buy that I could put between the receiver and the patch panel that would allow the sound to be diverted to bluetooth headphones instead of going to the speakers themselves?

Yes they make a bluetooth kit that plugs into the headphone jack then broadcasts to the speakers. About $20. Have not tried though.

yeah I have seen plenty of these when googling. I think this is what Z would need but this is not what I am looking for.

I should have said headphones instead of speakers.

I think this would do it for you?
Yes I think that would work if I am understanding it. I have never used my receivers headphone jack. Would I need to change my receiver setup to tell it to output to the headphone jack instead of outputting to the speakers?

I would really hope your receiver is smart enough to mute the speakers after plugging in headphones.

Most receivers auto detect the impedance of the headphones and route all output there instead of driving the speakers. When you plug this into the headphone jack, it will work until you disconnect it.

But would that mean I would have to plug and plug the blue tooth device every time I wanted to use it I guess from the headphone jack? I was hoping for a permanent type solution that could be controlled via a remote.

If one doesn't exist, you could build your own circuit with a dumb, single switch remote to open / close that connection...

In reading the comments for that device, most said it was very good for listening to music but bad for listening to TV/movies because of lag. I assume that lag would cause a lip sync problem when watching.

I wonder if that is something I would face in any type of conversion I would do, which would obviously be a non starter......

Is your old receiver a multi-zone? If so, you could get a bluetooth transmitter with RCA inputs and put it in zone 2 preamp out. Then use your remote to switch to that zone.

I need to go find the manual. I can't remember off the top of my head.

But even if that mode existed, wouldn't the lag issue still be there?
