OMGP!'s Final 1st Round Mock Draft (1 Viewer)

OMG! Ponies!

Footballguy
1. STL - Sam Bradford, QB -- Because if you don't have a QB, you don't have shyte. If they think he's a franchise QB, then they have no choice but to take him.

2. DET - Ndamukong Suh, DT -- It's a new time in DET. A time for defense. They can get by for one more year with Backus.

3. TB - Gerald McCoy, DT -- They want Warren Sapp. But they won't find him here. But McCoy should be good enough.

4. WAS - Russell Okung, LT -- I'm not 100% they go with an OL. That's a pick for the future, not a win now pick. And we know they're in win now mode. But if they do, it's likely Okung.

5. CLE - Eric Berry, S -- (traded with Kansas City for #7, and #71) Holmgren gets his guy. Instant impact. Too bad all he's gonna be doing is chasing guys down from behind...

6. SEA - Trent Williams, LT - They need line help, and hopefully they have a true value on Bulaga.

7. KC -- Jimmy Clausen, QB - Piloi is man enough to admit his mistakes and move on. This is the last time the Chiefs will get a shot at a franchise QB for a while.

8. PIT - Dez Bryant, WR -- (traded with OAK for Roethlisberger and #69) Since the Steelers picked up Gradkowski in the swap with OAK, they go after a top WR in the first step of their rebuild.

9. BUF - Bruce Campbell, LT -- Just horrendous blocking last year leads BUF to go with an upgrade to the OL. Which should be helpful to soon-to-be starting QB Tyler Thigpen.

10. JAX - CJ Spiller, RB -- It seems crazy, but I can see it. Spiller and MJD, rippin shyte up in JAX. You can argue for a pass rusher all you want, but they need to put points on the board.

11. DEN - Rolando McClain, LB -- With Dez off the board, Broncos reach for a two down ILB.

12. MIA - Ryan Matthews, RB -- Why? Well, cause sometimes it's fun to put Phish in a world of hurt. But really, your two RBs are 32 and 29. Hillard is not the answer. And they didn't sign Marshall to a two year deal.

13. SF - Joe Haden, CB -- They need to upgrade their secondary. And here's the answer.

14. SEA - Earl Thomas, S -- With both RBs gone, and having already drafted an OL, SEA gets an overrated gift in the form of Earl Thomas.

15. NYG - Derrick Morgan, DE -- With Osi Umenyiora soon to be traded, Morgan fits a soon to be need.

16. TEN - Brandon Graham, DE -- Edge pressure. Done.

17. SF - Anthony Davis, OL -- They took Haden because they could risk him falling, so now they improve their OL as well. Very good draft.

18. PIT - Maurkice Pouncey, C/G -- First time a guard is taken in the first round in three years. But provides a quick upgrade to the RG spot, giving a little more time for Dixon or Gradkowski to get the ball to Dez.

19. ATL - Jason Pierre-Paul, DE -- JPP has slipped a bit, but won't slip any further.

20. HOU - Kyle Wilson, CB -- They don't get Matthews, but they do get Marshawn Lynch in a trade with BUF for HOU's #81. Wilson becomes a solid contributor exactly where they need one.

21. CIN - Jermaine Greshem, TE -- Even though CIN doesn't use their TE much, his supposed "upside" is probably too much for them to pass up.

22. NEP - Sergio Kindle, LB -- Nothing special , but shoudl get the job done.

23. GB - Bryan Bulaga, OL - After repeated demands from Rodgers to the GB FO of "draft me a lineman or GTFO", GB complies.

24. PHI - Jerry Hughes, DE -- Another edge rusher off the board. Nothing special, but could excel in PHI's scheme.

25. BAL - Rob Gronkowski, TE -- How old is Todd Heap? 45?

26. ARI - Demaryius Thomas, WR -- ARI swings and misses.

27. DAL - Taylor Mays, S -- They could use him, but he'll disappoint if he goes this high.

28. SD - Jared Odrick, DE -- Holes all over that line in SD. This will plug one of them. Will have to move up in Round 2 (or back in to Round 1) to secure a RB.

29. NYJ - Devin McCourty, CB -- Someone has to be decent to play opposite of Revis Island.

30. MIN - Roger Saffold, OT -- I can see this going one of two ways. One, MIN does what I think they'll do and take Saffold. Two, SD trades back in to round 1 (#40 and #126) and takes Best.

31. IND - Mike Iupati, G -- IND needs help on the OL, and the FO knows it.

32. NO - Sean Weatherspoon, LB -- Good fit for the NO defense, which could stand to improve a bit.

There ya go boys. Enjoy.

**on the PIT pick at #8...don't start with the "PIT isn't gonna draft an iffy character guy like Bryant after the Big Ben thing". totally and completely different. Bryant's not out there screwing chicks in port-a-potties. He might be slightly immature, but probably more mature than Ben at this point.

Wondering when the first Ben to Oakland mock comes out.

and I will start with the "they won't draft Dez" ... because they wont.

Bulaga or Haden at 8. Pouncey or a CB at 18.

Or just take Bulaga at 18, since he's still on the board.

If Weatherspoon gets past the Giants, that's who I want. Or Graham, but he's gone in this one. I just don't see JPP as fitting Dimitroff's specs. We don't have time for a 1st round project.

if Weatherspoon is there for the Saints, I'll be giddy.

With the loss of Karlos at LB and Gandy at LT and many more pressing needs.... I would put the odds of Cardinals selecting a WR at negative zero.

Gosselin has him ranked as the 60th player in his top 100. I know that it is just one man's opinion but he seems to have insider information on how teams feel about players.

That and Baluga falling to 23? As a Packer fan, Id love it...just don't think its even near possible.

Nah, don't see KC "admitting a mistake" in trading for Cassell. Waaaay too early for that. So no way they draft a QB, imo. I can see them trading down, as you have, maybe even once or twice more, but not taking a QB.

That's a catastrphic drop. Can't see that.

No Brian Price or Carlos Dunlap in the 1st round ?

Its a catastrophic drop from what? Where a bunch of amateurs who don't work for the NFL have placed him in "mock" drafts this spring?Short arms + limited athleticism is easy to pick someone else over.

Yeah...there are no ex scouts or ex personnel guys that think highly of the guy right. :goodposting:

7. KC -- Jimmy Clausen, QB - Piloi is man enough to admit his mistakes and move on. This is the last time the Chiefs will get a shot at a franchise QB for a while.
I disagree with this. First, how many more games will Clausen win this year than Cassel? I'd say not many if not any at all. And since they will have so much wrapped up in two players that they can only play one at a time, then they are probably going to have an even better chance at getting a franchise QB next year than they do this year as they wasted their 1st round pick on a player that doesn't do much to help them in 2010. They have too many other holes to fill. Take BPA there and then think about QB next year if Cassel doesn't pan out. I also think there is no way that Pioli dumps Cassel after a single season, particularly since he brought him and paid him so much.

I believe Cassel's deal allows the Chiefs to trade/release him after this season without too much of a hit. Charlie Weiss is the new OC, so he may very well think Clausen is a franchise QB after coaching him at ND. They'd let Clausen sit this year, Cassel play's well enough that you trade him next year and then Clausen steps in. I think this is a plausible option, although I don't think it will happen. I can tell you as a Chief fan that Cassel did not demonstrate the characteristics of a franchise QB this past season. Was it the poor play of his teammates? Maybe, but he hasn't inspired much confidence at this point.

Interesting. I wonder if Josh McDaniels knows about this.

One of the CNNSI guys (either King or Banks) talked about the short arms issue. Too lazy to look it up, but Joe Thomas has shorter arms than Bulaga. Hasn't seemed to hurt him too much.

Here's the NFL Draft Prospect Report.Seems like there's a discrepancy here.....-----------------------------------------------------2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report:personBryan Bulaga, T, IowaBryan Bulaga is the latest in a long line of talented offensive linemen from the University of Iowa. Bulaga began his career at left guard where he started five of the seven games he played in as a freshmen. As a sophomore, he took over at left tackle, starting all 13 of Iowa's games last season. Bulaga has started all five games he's appeared in this season. He missed three games early in the year, but it shouldn't effect his draft status because he was ill, not injured. Bulaga has very quick feet for a big offensive lineman and uses his long arms to ride speed rushers right out of plays. He is not as strong as fellow Big ten linemen Joe Thomas or Jake Long, but he's still very young and has time to develop. Bulaga's run blocking has also improved steadily over the last two seasons. He is no longer satisfied just blocking the man in front of him, he moves on to the next level and tries to get a block on a linebacker as well. The best fit for Bulaga would be on a zone blocking team in the NFL, because of his familiarity with the system. Bulaga and his fellow offensive linemen played an outstanding game against Georgia Tech to end the season, and Bulaga has declared for the 2010 NFL draft. He should be a mid-to-late first round pick, but excellent workouts could push him into the top half of the first round.Bryan Bulaga had a great workout at the NFL Combine in February. He ran a 5.26 second 40 yard dash, and had 26 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. He looked great during position drills as well. The only concern with Bulaga is his shorter than expected arms, which may hurt him in some teams' eyes. He is unlikely to slip past the first 13 picks in the first round.

wow. nice discussion.

on Clausen: maybe it's my wishful thinking, maybe it's Weis and his familiarity with Clausen...but I cannot imagine a better fit for Clausen than KC. And getting to sit and play some scrub time would be great for the kid's "mental makeup" while he develops in to a sure-fire starter. HOWEVER, if KC passes on Clausen, it speaks volumes to either Weis' opinion of Clausen, or Weis' influence on Pioli. In time, I think we'll find out. But not until Weis leaves KC. And on a side note, if KC doesn't take a 1st round QB tomorrow, we won't be taking one in the first round, ever.

on Bulaga: some teams have a round 3 grade on him. others think he can be solid. but no one, as far as i've seen, think the kid will ever be a stand out LT. and in the end, he'll probably end up on the right side either way. so if a team is thinking of drafting him in the top 10, they must believe he'll be a super solid LT, cause wasting a top 10 pick on a RT is just ludicrous. and if Gosselin's final mock has us taking Bulaga, i'll probably go buy a case of Modelo in the morning, and play Madden all night and never turn on the draft.

on Cassel's contract: it's so heavily front loaded that it probably tipped the table as Cassel signed it. pretty much all his money will be paid by the end of this year. (63M total, 40.5M paid over first three years) so trading him after 2010/2011 will be a fantastic deal for the team getting him, at least salary wise. and I think Denver should be on the phone with Pioli discussing a quick lil swap. but you'll never convince me that his contract is structure like that randomly. there's a reason.

And a glaring weakness at the 2nd corner spot and no TE. I will be absolutely shocked if the Cards don't go D with the first pick. Why would anyone think the Cardinals would take a WR in the first round? That's just ridiculous. Heck WR is about the only spot on this team where the need isn't high.

8. PIT - Dez Bryant, WR -- (traded with OAK for Roethlisberger and #69) Since the Steelers picked up Gradkowski in the swap with OAK, they go after a top WR in the first step of their rebuild.
wait, so because they have Gradkowski they take a WR despite still having Ward, and Wallace/Miller seem decent enough? If Clausen drops to #8, it's Ben for Clausen. Which if I'm a Steelers fan, I'm quite happy with despite the tendency to knock Clausen.

Not to say Dez would be a bad pick, it would be a fine pick. Just won't be the Steelers pick.
