Trying to get some feedback from a larger audience. I asked in the other forum but wanted to ask here too.

In yesterday's Random Shots, I said:

"I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. And I hope this was not your Thanksgiving dinner experience..."

And then shared this tweet.

If you don't want to click on it, it's a silly joke that shows a wine bottle.

The top third says something like, "Grandma, you're looking lovely tonight".

The middle third says, "Look guys, I just thing healthcare is a universal right"

The bottom third says, "Cousin John you'r a fascist and the revolution will not spare you"

My question: On a scale of 1(Not offensive) to 5 (Extremely offensive), how offensive was the tweet?

And to be clear, I don't mean "Offensive because the joke was so lame."

I might suggest that if it arises that one of us is offended by a tweet that our problems are rather deep and we should seek some professional help.

The people who find this offensive are lamer than the people who were offended by the charity who announced their average donation was $14.92.

Thanks folks. This is helpful for me.

From what I can tell, this wasn't a thing of "don't mix football with politics.". The person who had an issue thought I was taking a side.

They said they were canceling their subscription and would not be buying another one because I was trying to "own the libs".

We lose business at Footballguys for plenty of different reasons. I just was just kind of surprised by this one. Although I suppose I shouldn't be.

I mean maybe, just maybe, I could see taking offense if the viewer was an actual fascist leader in an actual fascist country?  Of course, I suppose such a person wouldn't likely be celebrating American Thanksgiving.

I am old enough to remember being criticized by people in this forum for posting a link to a "random tweet" that I found amusing or upsetting. 😃

Seriously, I didn't find it offensive, maybe because I don't get what the joke is or see what was supposed to be funny. Was this supposed to be an example of typical Thanksgiving conversation that we should find amusing? If so, this was a rather was a rather lame joke, and the author shouldn't quit their day job to take up comedy writing.

Own the libs?  In a socialist, liberal echo chamber?

No way.

I didn't find the joke funny, but am amused by this.

I think maybe you were misreading the person.  Maybe he was picking the side of humor and that's why he was so offended.

I think a certain party has difficulty with humor.

I'm not sure. This person was offended that I was trying to "own the libs" so my guess, although I could sure be wrong, is they are liberal and I've always thought liberal folks do ok with humor. But maybe it's a conservative person who is offended they think I'm trying to "own the libs". I don't know for sure.

It offensive at all.  But if it were me and I owned a business- I’d stay as far away from politics as I could.

I'll say it again it's not offensive.

However it was sooooo NOT offensive that I'm offended that it wasn't more offensive.

Wait, you weren't trying to own the libs? Because I totally thought you were!

You posted that you hoped people did not experience alcohol-fueled liberalist rhetoric. (Also, I think the tweet sort-of implies that liberals don't have the courage to stand by their convictions unless alcohol is involved.)

That seems like an own to me!

P.S. Voted "0"

I could only see that offending the type that go around looking to be offended. You could use some better material though….just saying.

I voted zero on this one. I think the message was how nice we were as the wine was opened and being poured. Then after a few sips someone starts talking politics. After the bottle gets low someone blurts out how they really feel.

Fortunately, that is not what happened at my house for T-day. There was a little kerfuffle between grandma and her grandson but not politics thankfully. Of course we left the TV off all day so that might have helped.
