One More Reason To Hate Thursday Night Football! (1 Viewer)

One thing that Joe failed to note on the Harvin trade. Those of us who have Harvin on our team really get screwed by the timing of this. Thanks to Thursday Night Football, which I HATE, as a FF player!, we LOSE Harvin, a sure starter, for this week, since the Jets have already played, and he obviously won't be playing for Seattle on Sunday. Though I've read a lot of criticism of Harvin's production, the fact is that he averaged 10 points per game in the 5 he's played to date.

THAT REALLY SUCKS!

Which leads me to note that the "MONEY FIRST" policies of the NFL are really ruining the game for true sports fans. I think Thursday Night Football is one of the best examples of this.

CLEARLY it is only there for the extra income the NFL gets from the TV contract. Nobody likes it. It doesn't give the players or coaches enough time to properly prepare for the next game; and certainly increases the danger of injuries ("safety first" my ###!), since players do not have adequate time to recover from the minor injuries and stress on their bodies from the Sunday games. And, of course, the millions of fans who participate in FF have to scramble and guess on waiver wire actions, as well as who to start on Thursday, since injury status for players is not clear for Sunday players, and that may obviously affect the decision on what players to start on Thursday.

If played at all, Thursday games should be between two teams who had a BYE the previous week. But, since that would leave several weeks with no income from a Thursday game, the NFL would never consider doing that!

Well, maybe if the NFL got a $5 annual fee from everyone who plays FF, they'd get rid of Thursday Night Football!

I love the entertainment and excitement of the GAME of professional football. I HATE the greed and hypocrisy of the BUSINESS side of the NFL!

so you woulda started harvin a couple days after being traded to the jets, if the jets playeds this sunday?? How bad is your team??

Let's flip the script here and imagine the Seahawks played Thursday and the Jets Sunday. Double points baby, and now everyone loves Thursday night football.

Just when I didn't think I could possibly hate Thursday Night Football anymore than I already do I read something like this.

Although the NFL is technically a non-profit organization, the 32 teams are business seeking to make as much money as they can. The teams aren't a public service cooperative. I am not that big a fan of Thursday night, but as a business owner, I understand the purpose.

I started Percy Harvin in my high stakes $25 fantasy football league, and now I get a zero because he got traded! Cmon nfl, stop crapping on true sports fans!

This is really good work here. You should post more often.

I'm guessing that Pete Carroll is in your fantasy league. You might even be the owner of the team you are playing against. Pretty damn Bush league, if you ask me.
