Open Letter from a Salty Hater to Patriots Nation (1 Viewer)

It was a great game and the Eagles flat out beat the Pats. They played to win and how can you not respect that.
Sometimes it is difficult to be gracious when one's heart is breaking.  I say good for them, they are respecting what happened even though it must be hard to do so.  that's sportsmanship.

Boston sports radio is even taking it in stride. Main thing they’re pissed about is why Butler got benched right before the game.

Can’t be excited about next season if I’m a Lions fan.  This wasn’t fluky catches like the Giants SBs, Eagles flat out beat them up offensively all night long, looks bad for Bill and Patricia. If Brady wasn’t on the other side sustaining drives the Eagles would have easily hung 50 last night.

Another thing a lot of Pat fans do not like Belichick, they think he’s an ##### just like everyone else. Watching Butler crying pregame and then having the Eagles smack the Pats around right where Butler would have helped has left a very bad taste.

Nah man they destroyed thd vikings defense too. It was their season. Have to give dougie balls and nick foles all the credit. New England dont have the horses on defense right now

This didn't get nearly enough discussion.  Collinsworth was too busy slobbing the BB knob, but this was a bad call by someone.  That secondary got torched and not having the guy out there reeks of hubris that backfired.

Thank you...(and I mean this with zero attitude at all)...it should not be hard...we have been on such a run with the Pats (and other teams) to not show respect would be the ultimate in selfish greed and cluelessness...like the Giant losses the Pats got beat on the field...I would much prefer to lose in the Super Bowl than not get their at all...if this were 2000 it might feel different but with all the highs we have had the past 17 years the lows just don't sting as much...outside of being disgusted by the performance of the D yesterday I felt like Coach Ed Henry after the Championship game in "Remember The Titans"..."that's it boys, nice season"...

There has to be more to the story. Did he miss curfew? Was he caught with hookers and blow in his hotel room? There's no way this was a football decision.

There is, well find out. Speculation that it was because Butler cleaned out his locker before they left and that pissed BB off.

All of the stories have him denying it was disciplinary.  I would think that if it were he would have just gone with a "no comment" or "ask coach" but he didn't.  Just "they gave up on me".

They should- I think if I was in charge of changing one thing to give the Patriots a chance it would be Butler in the game because Jeffrey killed them in the 1st. Butler is too good to have given up some of those plays. If it was truly done as some master plan of matchups- well sometimes you get too cute with trying to be all knowing and it bites you. But it did smell like something else going on. Now as a salty hater of all things Cheatriots I am glad they did bench him but you have to wonder if that would have swayed the game in their favor.

I wonder if that was after being told that he was not playing.

One way or another- sounds like Butler will be playing for another team. I can't imagine him coming back. The Patriots will likely pull their dirt files they have on the other GM's in the league and trade him for three 1st round draft picks in the offseason.

No, it sounds like he was in the game plan until the morning of the game. Rowe said he had no idea he was starting until right before game time.

Has to be...think about this...he has had an up and down season so I can see a scenario where they think someone else maybe a better fit for what they want to do to start the game although they really don't have the defensive personnel to get cute...the D is a complete and utter train-wreck from start to finish...there is no way he doesn't get out there at some point if this is merely about football...this has to be a discipline issue or he would have played at some point...

It also helps when you have 5 in your back pocket.

This Eagles team is wildly likable in every way - from players to coaching staff, it’s a great group of guys. As a Pats fan, when you see a talented, likable team that plays great situational football to secure a Super Bowl win, you simply tip your cap and say that the better team won last night.

You have conducted yourselves with grace during and after yesterday's loss.  That is all.
You should try listening to NE Sports Talk radio.

Im convinced that Patriots fans have forgotten how to lose.  Seriously.  They have no idea of the concept and cant process emotion or behavior properly.  Its really annoying.

Don’t paint an entire fan base with a few clowns calling in who can’t even pronounce the players names correctly. Butler is a bigger story than the loss.

Brady did not congratulate Foles after the game.

Brady is among the worst in sports

Brady is a disgrace to sportsmanship and should retire in shame and should never get into the hall of fame. I won't even mention that he's a cheater but he is in fact a cheater.
oddly enough

Dan Wetzel✔@DanWetzel

Gisele, walking a back hallway to leave the stadium, took time to personally congratulate every Eagles player she ran into. They looked star struck.

I am painting a broad stroke, WEEI forces me to do it.  Thats the stroke of the callers they take.  That said, most of the fans I know are knowledgeable and pretty good sports.  However, having won so many super bowls in the past couple of years they are still pretty poor losers.  And also lets not discuss the pink hat epidemic facing NE sports.

It’s entertaining but their callers are ridiculous. Main issue with Pats fans is they’ve won so much it’s totally taken for granted. It’s like a birthright to a lot of them. They think it’s due them.

My perspective on the NFL extends beyond the time Tom Brady has been in the league, beyond the time Joe Montana and Deion Sanders were in the league, back before the Steel curtain, back to a time when Lombardi and Halas, and Landry and Grant haunted the sidelines and when Jim Brown and Johnny Unitas and Bart Starr faced things called the Purple People Eaters and the Doomsday Defense and the Fearsome Foursome.  I do smile when told about dynasties and GOATs by folks with perspective that does not see beyond that rise just over there.

Yes

Ive got a number of stories as an out-of-towner that id rather not even think about during my honeymoom SB win time.

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!
