Open roster spot strategy (1 Viewer)

I play in a 12 team league in which we have 16 roster spots and are limited to the number of players we can have at each position. I currently have Pittsburgh as my defense and was considering dropping Harrington for the Pats or Giants defense. They have a decent schedule and I am not a big believer in Harrington. Now there are alot of people to subscribe to the 1 kicker, 1 defense strategy. The only other position in which I have an open roster spot in qb. I currently have Brady and Leinart but could add a third qb. Available options are Gradowski, Brooks, Campbell, Romo.

Is it a better strategy to pick up a backup defense even though they are somewhat unpredictable or stash away a Romo in case he is named the starter in a few weeks?

Entering a season, I think defensees are somewhat unpredictable. Once your six weeks into the season, they become more predictable.

My opinion is that you never add anyone that you can just trade for a better player. if both brady and leinart get hurt and you need to resort to romo you ain't winning the championship anyway.
