Open Waiver Wire during last nights game (1 Viewer)

My 12 team league has waiver claims processed on Wednesday mornings. After that, all players are free agents. So last night after D. Moore's first TD I decided to test the waters and see if I could add him as Yahoo had him listed as a free agent. I tried multiple times but kept getting an error message, #170 "Player is involve in a transaction"

I was under the impression that a player whose game has already started should be on waivers, not a FA. I check back around midnight and a team in my league has added him and did not burn up there #2 waiver claim. They got him as a free agent. I had the #6 waiver priority so I most likely wouldn't have got him, but I tried when he was listed as a FA. My other gripe is that the team that got him is in first place, but even if they put Moore back on waivers, they'd get him before me anyway.

Thoughts? Should I raise a fuss about this with the league. I tried to ad Moore when he was a FA too.

I agree and as soon as 1pm Sunday games start, those playing that are FA's go to Waivers, so I would think the same should happen for Thursday games.

Bush League, maybe...but it is in completely within the rules so I see no problem with it. If this is something that your league complains about put it in the rules for next year.

You can bring it up to the league, but there's nothing wrong with the pickup yesterday. The Yahoo setting being used places all players on waivers 1 PM Sunday. So players on Thursday or Saturday are still FAs during those games. I think the only other choice for next year on Yahoo is to place all FAs on waiver after kickoff of the first game of the week. That would have fixed your issue last night but wouldn't allow any other pickups the rest of the week. Only other option is to go to another site.

Your league needs a rule that states a player can't be picked up after a player's game has started. If you don't then you just had bad luck trying to get him.

You're right, I should have. After unsuccessful attempts to add Moore, I figured I'd check the system and try to add Vincent Brown...same error message and he was not added by anyone last night, he's still a free agent.

/thread.Your fault for not knowing the rules. I am commish of 2 yahoo leagues. I brought this issue up at the beginning of the season saying that Thursday games happen often at the end of the year - would we rather lock on Thursday kickoff or allow for gametime pickups on sunday and let Thurs be free game? - no one voted for Thursday. I picked up Moore in both leagues last night. One guy tried to ##### but went quietly when I brought up the vote at start of the season. Yahoo does not give you the option to only lock Thursday players so it's one or the other..

Usually if you try to pick up a player and get that message, it is telling you that you are trying to drop a guy that you have out in a trade offer. You need to cancel or reject the trade before you can drop him.

You may have received that error message if the player you were trying to drop for Moore was in a pending trade offer or waiver claim. If so, it wasn't that Moore was off-limits to you, but that the guy you were trying to drop for him wasn't a valid drop until you cancelled any pending transaction in which he was involved. Could that have been the case?

Your league chose to go into action with rules that promote the inevitable 'race to the keyboard' with open Free Agency on in-progress games, the owners in your league have to live with the consequences of that. Presumably, somebody else scooped up Vincent Brown as well? UPDATE: Apparently that schmo does Soduko in the Bathtub?

Rules are rules, and as long as they apply equally to every owner, no one has a right to complain.Any owner could have picked him up during that game.Learn your league's rules and take advantage of them, otherwise someone else will. Anyway, don't get so worked up about a good game from an Oakland WR. Next week it will a different Oakland WR catching all the balls.

Wait...so you tried to add him, but somebody beat you to it and now you're complaining that he shouldn't have been allowed to? I'd clean that up before taking anything to the league.I use yahoo in one league and our league is set up that you can't add players from a Thursday night game until the normal waiver processing.

Nope, Brown is still available. Like I said with Moore, it's more of blocking someone else from adding him. Brown or Moore wouldn't start on my team.

I've forgotten how much Yahoo sucks. A good site would process the waiver and cancel any trades involving the dropped player automatically.

I was in a league once that had this rule and I actually got tired on Sundays. It didn't last, the guy's web design work had a major glitch and as far as I know the project just died. However, we got points for a player from the point he was put in. I don't think it's at all reasonable to get points for a player before that point.

I don't wholly disagree with the guys saying rules are rules. They're right. However, I think this point is obvious and a rule is unnecessary. Match the time up somehow and only give him points from when he put Denarius in.

ETA so he gets the player (rules say so) but not the points before

It was a joke. Just like the other guy. I beat the first place team in my league earlier this year.
