Open Waiver Wire during last nights game (1 Viewer)

I was in a league once that had this rule and I actually got tired on Sundays. It didn't last, the guy's web design work had a major glitch and as far as I know the project just died. However, we got points for a player from the point he was put in. I don't think it's at all reasonable to get points for a player before that point. I don't wholly disagree with the guys saying rules are rules. They're right. However, I think this point is obvious and a rule is unnecessary. Match the time up somehow and only give him points from when he put Denarius in.ETA so he gets the player (rules say so) but not the points before
i have no clue what you were trying to say. are saying you had a league were you could just plug in guys off the waiver and get those points. that would have nothing to do with bieng able to pick up Moore as a FA nobody was suggesting putting him in the lineup.

Until a few years ago, my league used the "All players lock at the start of the first game" rule, after previouly using the free-for-all version for a couple of the early years of the league. After an owner suggested going to the other version where players go to waivers on Sunday at the start of games, we adopted that version.

We didn't run into this Thursday/Saturday game pickup problem until earlier this season during the GB game when someone picked up Cobb on opening night.

Because our intent was clearly to move away from a free-for-all system, and we simply hadn't run into this issue previously, we just decided to have everyone self-police and the commish would overturn any transactions that violated the rules we intended to have but Yahoo wouldn't allow (i.e. players lock at THEIR game, but everyone else is FA until Sunday at noon).

We are a league of pretty good friends, so I suppose this might not work in cutthroat leagues where people look for every little legal loophole possible to pull one over on other owners.

Hell, in my league I put in a waiver claim on Moore because I didn't want to take a chance on Nate Washington playing. All year long our waivers are processed Friday morning at 1:00 am. Realizing there was a Thursday game I contacted the commish and asked if he would move the waiver process up to Thursday at 1 am. His response - nope. Now in our league, waivers are processed on Friday morning and then there is a second waiver run on Sunday morning for any players that were dropped - free for all between those waiver runs. After the second waiver run no adds until the next week. So any players from Oak and SD that you wanted to drop or pick up would have to have been done by last Sunday morning. That is whack.

The reason the vast majority of FF leagues have went away from first come first serve waiver wires is to make it fairer for everyone to have a fair shot at players who either blow up or backups of injured players. Not everybody can watch the games and be in front of the computer to make those quick pick ups.

Once you start mixing some sort of fairer waiver wire with open drop adds the reason from going away from the FCFS can be lost.

My main league which I commish went from a FCFS a number of years ago and just this year went to a waiver wire followed by open drop adds.

To avoid just this situation it is set to run waivers Thursday morning and FCFS up until game time Sunday with the stipulation that once a game has started, those players are locked until the following waiver process.

I think setting it up this way is much fairer.

Question is... Who were you trying to drop? Was that player in the Thursday game?
Was going to drop Hardesty. Even if it was someone playing on Thursday, they should be able to be dropped too. Anyway no big deal, posted on the league website for a rule change for next season and everyone who responded agreed.

You can bring it up to the league, but there's nothing wrong with the pickup yesterday. The Yahoo setting being used places all players on waivers 1 PM Sunday. So players on Thursday or Saturday are still FAs during those games. I think the only other choice for next year on Yahoo is to place all FAs on waiver after kickoff of the first game of the week. That would have fixed your issue last night but wouldn't allow any other pickups the rest of the week. Only other option is to go to another site.
/thread.Your fault for not knowing the rules. I am commish of 2 yahoo leagues. I brought this issue up at the beginning of the season saying that Thursday games happen often at the end of the year - would we rather lock on Thursday kickoff or allow for gametime pickups on sunday and let Thurs be free game? - no one voted for Thursday. I picked up Moore in both leagues last night. One guy tried to ##### but went quietly when I brought up the vote at start of the season. Yahoo does not give you the option to only lock Thursday players so it's one or the other..
:goodposting: When we decided to go to Yahoo about six years ago I made it clear and put it in the rules that players are LOCKED and NOT to be touched AFTER THEIR game starts.
