So for my keep 1 league, this will be the start of our second year (first time in the offseason with kept players)

Anyways, we have a roster of like 12 players per team and we get to keep only 1.

Me and the other owners been talking lately about how we should be able to trade players for draft picks.

For example - my team:

Bulger

Plummer

Edge

Fred Taylor

Thomas Jones

Dominic Rhodes

Mike Anderson

Randy Moss

Holt

Joe Jurevicious

Horn

Tony Gonzalez

2 de's, 2 k's not worth mentiong

(10 team league..gonan expand to 12 this yr hopefully)

So say I'm keeping Moss and well, I'm going to have to drump everyone else..

Edge + Holt

Some other teams don't have a clear cut keeper and would like to trade for Edge/Moss/Holt

Is this a good idea? I think it is cause I don't want to drop my guys for nothing.

But looking from other owner's views, is this fair? I mean, other guys might be against it cause then it's like, I'm dumping my guys for anything cause they all know I can't keep more than 1.

I hope I"m making sense.

Of course it is fair. It won't skew your league, because a smart owner would know that you can't keep Holt, and Moss. So they will offer a low draft pick, then you will probably end up taking it, because something is better than nothing.

I have two leagues that let you keep up to 4 players... at the cost of your 1st through 4th round draft picks. Only keep 3 and you'd select a player from the pool with your 4th round pick as normal.

As long as the owners realize that the team has to drop the player, so they shouldn't pay through the nose for them, it works out ok. If your league as a whole overpays though, it can result in things being a little lopsided. One of my two leagues there were several owners who "didn't get it", and were way overpaying. We finally had to have an open discussion about it to preserve league balance. Since then it hasn't been too bad.

The other league we didn't have any problems from the start, and though it is a small advantage picking up some extra picks like that, they normally are deep enough in the draft that it isn't a huge difference maker.

Thanks for the replies.

I'll have to think about trading now and talk to the rest of the league to make sure nothing lopsided comes up.
