Hey Bankerguy...I know Eagles fans are an easy target, but please try not speaking for an entire fan base. TIA.ETA: If you check post #13, I believe its a Cowboys fan that first mentions it helping his team.

My apologies......then I bet the fans who were present at the Irvin game LIKELY did a :( upon hearing the Osi news. Is that more PC for ya?

Or maybe the Browns fans who cheered their own QB laying motionless...maybe they cheered the Osi injury as well?

Giants weren't going to make the playoffs anyway.
That thinking is just fine with me, and I have a feeling the Giants are great with it as well.It is often hard to pump up the "disrespect" angle when you are defending the Superbowl champs, but many already had the Giants not even winning their division before Osi was out.The Giants can legitimately play the year with a chip on their shoulder.
The Cowboys are the overwhelming favorite in the NFC East pre and post Osi injury. The Giants got into the playoffs as a wild card, didn't they?

While I will never cheer injuries, this really helps my 'Boys.Horrible to hear though, tbh. He's a stud and a great player. Brutal blow to G-Men.
I wasn't cheering his injury, bud. Simply said it's a tough loss for the Giants, but it helps the 'Boys.

That's my point.Giants won the superbowl and they weren't/aren't favored to win their own division with or without Osi.

Just like there was nothing from an Eagles fan, yet for some reason they got dragged into this by Bankerguy. But I agree with you...huge loss for the Giants. Never want to see a person get hurt and as fans we always want to see the best on the field.

I know its not that easy but I am in the camp of bringing Kiwi back to DE. It may not happen but from what I have seen, the Giants are much deeper at linebacker than they are at DE. Also, they managed without Kiwi playing linebacker at the end of last year.....I don't see whats so wrong without him as your LB this year.
The Giants let Kawika Mitchell go
I was talking about Kiwanuka
I know, but you said they would be OK at linebacker without Kiwi, but they let Kawika Mitchell go so they have an opening at linebacker that Kiwi was supposed to fill. I am not saying they won't consider moving Kiwi (they probably will) back to DE, but linebacking is not strong for the Giants.

I don't see how you cannot add about 10% onto Manning's numbers and the passing game...maybe more.

One thing they have a lot of strength in is the OL, they can run, pass, they look good in preseason as does Eli...maybe this will be his "career" year, most of the greats have a couple of them.

As a Giants fan, this really sucks, obviously. However, I do think that this is a storm that the Giants can weather with a little bit of luck.

Coughlin said this morning that Kiwanuka will be moved back to DE. While moving him does make them weaker at LB, Kiwanuka hasn't exactly been a slam dunk success at LB. His natural position is DE and it's very possible he will excel there going forward.

The good news is that the Giants have a couple young LBs on the team. Since Danny Clark as pretty much established himself as a starter at this point, all they need is for one of Gerris Wilkinson, Zak DeOssie and Brian Kehl to play well enough to hold up the other side. Given that the Giants D is much more about bringing pressure from the front 7 then it is about "read and react" play, it should be easier for one of those young players to excel.

Throw in the possibility of Strahan coming back and I think they have a good shot at being OK.

You still have plenty of good players on that D. Justin Tuck is an emerging star. Antonio Pierce is a quality MLB. The secondary is better then last year with the addition of Kenny Phillips and another year under the belt for Aaron Ross.

It's almost impossible to replace a player like Osi, but losing him doesn't mean that the Giants D is done, not by any means. They still have some talent on defense and I think they will still get after the QB on a regular basis.

That's an understatement. Kiwanuka was terrible at LB. I understand what the Giants were thinking with the move, they were thin at LB, and they had Osi, Strahan, and Tuck at end. But it was a mistake. He looked completely lost out there. This was a move that should have been made even before Osi went down.
