Stayed under 600 calories yesterday, though I had vodka/water for dinner. Wasn't really hungry after I ran 3.5 miles, but I was very thirsty and thought a splash of vodka with my water would be a real treat. I went from the gym to my neighbor's house (the guy who loves to buy the nastiest, cheapest beers he can find for me and encourage me to drink them) and upon entry, was met by him opening up some sort of Schlitz Malt Liquor Ice Lager in a giant can. For the first time in ages, I passed on a free beer. Yes, it was probably made with yak piss and and toilet water, but I turned it down all the same and opted for a vodka/water.
I found my scale last night. It's not very fancy and I think it belonged to my ex-wife, but I got on it. 207. I'll call that an unofficial weigh in because I don't really trust this thing. Still, I'm glad it wasn't 220 or 215. 217 is what I weighed in early January at my doctor's office. That's obese. That's a recipe for early death and now that I'm one of those old guys with a young baby, I need to stick around this planet as best I can.
This weekend will be a challenge. My wife and I are going to the Blazers game Saturday night and we have tickets to the club level which includes an unlimited amount of food with plenty of very good options (carving station, pasta bar, salad bar, appetizers, desserts, Polish dogs, peanuts, pizza, candy....whatever you want). Typically, I oink out. I'd like to avoid that so I'm hoping to come in with a plan. Stick to the meats and the salad bar and avoid the heavy carbs. I'll also try to avoid beer if I can. Full bar means $9 vodkas the size of a thimble, but whatever. I'm driving so I'll limit myself to 2.
Solid week, Otis. Keep it up!
