Out On Tour With The Smashing Pumpkins... (1 Viewer)

Saw them close out rock on the range a couple years ago.

We left five songs in after half the crowd had already left.

Terrible show.

Not many people more obsessed with themselves than corgan. If he was 10% as talented as he thought he was, we'd have something special on our hands. Sadly, we don't.

Never seen them, but heard they are really hit or miss live.

However, Corgan is actually quite talented. They put out a ton of great songs over a short period. Siamese Dream and Melancholy are phenomenal albums.

Saw them when they were touring for Mellon collie, they put on a great show. Saw Corgan touring for his solo stuff and it was really bad.

I'd go see the pumpkins again. Especially if chamberlain was on drums.

Corgan's voice makes me want to punch.
Yeah, always nails on the chalkboard for me. Great arrangements, great lyrics, and a singer that sounded like someone shoved a fork up a cat's ###.
Corgan did write great songs. The studio helped his annoying voice some but I can only listen to a few pumpkins songs before I want to strangle Corgan. Live Corgan's voice is simply punishing.

I saw the SP and Manson show a couple of weeks ago.

The SP were disappointing. Pretty much they came out and speed sung their 15 hits in "original ways" meaning they didn't sound like they normally do. That got us to the halfway point and I was like oh crap they played all their good stuff and the second half of the show was original, Bs and crap. They just stood there and belted them out quickly and didn't say ten words to the crowd.

The saving grace believe it or not was Marilyn Manson. I knew one Manson song and only knew him from the freak hermaphrodite photo like 20 years ago. While I don't care for his genre of music he is a real master of it. His energy, interaction with the crowd and sets simply blew away the SP. He actually had a lot of good songs that he crushed. He changed sets, costumes, several times and did a proper encore, (SP encore was Corgan doing a 2 minute accoustic solo)

The MM show was entertainment. The SP show was reenactment of a band warming up in a studio. Sadly as a Smashing Pumpkins fan, if I had my choice of tickets I would rather see Marilyn Manson again.

Have seen them a couple times... never a good show.

Once in Oxford, MS, Billy whined to the crowd in the seats that they weren't in the pit... cried that they must be "MTV fans" and the "Real fans were down in the pit"....

Shortly after that, one of the "real fans" from the pit threw a shoe onstage that hit him in the arm. He threw a tantrum and stormed off stage. The crowd chanted for about 10-15 mins before giving up... they never came back out.

Craptastic 30-40 minute concert.

Let's see if we can veer of course again. Anyone seen Stone Temple Pilots play lately? They're elegant bachelors.

This actually sounds preferable to the time I saw them. They played one hit, one cover of like Frank Sinatra or something random like that, and then decided to spend the rest of the show as a jam band. Spoiler alert: The Smashing Pumpkins are a terrible jam band.

Always will have a soft spot for SP...but I guess I am probably never going to catch them live based on the reviews in here.

On board with them being hit or miss.

Saw them 3 times, 2 shows were great, one was an absolute :tfp:

The bad night was them sandwiched between Pearl Jam and the Peppers and both band just killed it that night

Pumpkins were so bad they were literally booed off the stage. Amazing considering it was in their hometown.

I saw that tour back in '90 or '91, I believe, up in SPFLD, MA. All three bands killed that night.

I remember Eddie Vedder saying, quite ironically in retrospect, that he knew if PJ ever played a place as big as the one they were playing it would be half full. So much for that.
