New Orleans Saints RB Pierre Thomas (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Dec. 8, reports Jeff Duncan, of the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Was gonna pick up Ivory off the WW due to all my RB issues. Is Choice a better pickup?? I need a RB2 for this weekends playoff.

I am in the same boat and can't decide between Choice and Ivory.

imo, ivory is still the top waiver pickup this week. 5tds and 45 carries for 254 yards over the last 3 games on a great offense.

Payton did say that PT's return won't affect Ivory's snap count, but I'm not sure I buy that. PT could be limited, however, in his first week back - we saw how rusty Bush was in his return.

Also against Seattle (12th), Dallas (19th) and Cincinnati (22nd). His next three are a lot harder against St. Louis (13th), Baltimore (6th) and Atlanta (8th). That is why I am leaning towards Choice at the moment.

Ivory is going to bust this weekend.

Bush has had another week to get back into the groove.

P. Thomas will be back to eat into carries.

STL D is infinitely better than Cinci's D.

I hope my opponent keeps Ivory in the lineup...chasing last week's points.

I don't think it effects him too much. I would expect his usual work, 10-15 carries total with all the goal line carries. If you are expecting more than that you're probably going to be disappointed, but he could put up a solid day if he manages to get a short rushing TD or two.

St. Louis D is better than Cincy, but they're not as good on the road and the Saints should still be able to move the ball on them.

stl d has benefited from an easy schedule. bengals have played much better teams. i think the difference is a bit overblown. both are middle of the road. regardless, the saints are so good at passing that they can easily set up ivory some short yardage tds without leaning on him to sustain drives.

Julius Jones will lose his roll, and Pierre will take his spot until he gets some reps in...Then Pierre will share the carries with Ivory, and Reggie will come in and suck it up as the change of pace back.

Ivory is still a solid play this week, next week is a different story.

Things always have a way of working themselves out. I think this week is a good start because of who they're playing, but when they face a tougher run D team and the overall yards are harder to come by, that's when this situation really gets murky. Both players have been dinged up at times this year, Pierre most of the year so I don't expect that to change. Why would anyone anticpate that Ivory, Thomas and Bush will now somehow be healthy now till the end of the season. Gauranteed 1 or 2 of those guys go by the wayside and someone will naturally take over the postion.

agree with football critic. once pierre gets up to speed, which could be as soon as next week, this will resemble last yrs backfield with pierre doing pierre stuff, bush doing bush stuff and ivory in mike bell's role, tho a bit expanded.

From Rotoworld:

Saints coach Sean Payton said Monday that he doesn't want to lighten rookie Chris Ivory's workload at all going forward, despite the impending return of Pierre Thomas and improving health of Reggie Bush.

Payton did not pull punches in his praise of Ivory, who gashed the Bengals for 117 yards and two scores on 15 carries (7.8 YPC) Sunday. "I don't want to affect his snap count at all in regards to his carries," Payton said. "Certainly [ivory] has earned the reps that he's getting now and the touches. He's a different type of runner than either Pierre or Reggie or Julius [Jones]."

No way to tell, but remember how Payton used Bell and Thomas last year when Thomas came back from injury and before Bell went down with injury. Basically, each got 15-18 touches a game. So expectations should be reigned into the neighborhood of ~60 yards and a TD if PT plays, with upside of ~80/2 TDs if PT isn't in game shape, and a floor of around 50 yards.

Puts him at about RB20 in a non-PPR. Definitely starter material for a lot of people in 12 team leagues.

ETA: for example, I'm starting him over Starks, Choice and TB-MW in a .5 PPR until more information comes forward re: PT and Barber.

I don't see how Payton can keep Ivory off the field. he will probably still get around 12-15 touches, with all the goal line work. I can see Pierre taking over Jones' role, playing more on 3rd and passing downs, and Reggie will be the wild card, used in any situation where Payton wants a mismatch.

Ivory's been playing too well to take off the field. I see Pierre taking over Jones's role with Bush spinkled in for a couple carries and the slot.
