Packer - Titans Preseason (1 Viewer)

Having said that, Flynn just threw a nice pass to Swain. Having said that, both will be cut.
You know nothing about the Packers if you think Matt Flynn will be cut.
So, tell us why he will stay on the roster
How hard is it to understand that Flynn has been coming on in training camp and is pushing Brohm to be the #2 QB in Green Bay.Why don't you tell us why you think they will cut Flynn. Anyone that knows anything about the Packers know the Packers are not going to cut Flynn.

But the question was asked why you think the Packers will cut Flynn. You have avoided that. What is your reasoning why they would do that?

19 of 29 passing, 132 yards 65.5% passers rating, 4.6 average pass, 1 TD (pre tonight)

Brohm has been worse, but they spent too high of a pick not to keep him.

Packers will pick someone up after the cuts are made.

This is easy...if the Packers cut Flynn I will leave the board forever. If the Packers keep Flynn on the roster then you leave forever. Since you know so much and are so confident about that I'm sure you'll accept that. :lmao:

Besides the fact that Green Bay only has 3 QBs on their roster, cutting Flynn would be foolish. He's looked pretty good for a 7th round QB in his first NFL training camp and preseason. At a minimum, they could trade him for something vs. cutting him outright, but they would still have to bring in another QB first.

I agree that Flynn looks alright, considering.

I mean... compared to BOOTY, for whom the Vikings traded up? Booty is garbage.

But let's not kill each other over this.

Rodger's issue in teh 49er game was the line played so poorly that he had no time to make any plays. But being a fan of 40 years you believe #4 would have done a lot better. Maybe you even think Starr would have had magic.

The 3-4 defense gives this team issues all the time and for some reason, hopefully during the regular season the coaching staff will know what to do if they face that front.

When the line has held, Rodgers has performed. Favre lovers will be hating this kid until he wins a Super Bowl (not saying that will ever happen).

Brohm back in - and it's another fumble!Yes, Rogers will be ok, but man, Brohm and Flynn are the not ready for prime time players
Well...Brohm and Flynn were also playing with the rookie Giacomini and the perennial disappointment Orrin Thompson (who I expect will be cut) trying to block Vanden Bosch and Kearse. Though, they have been shaky all year.Flynn IMO, has outplayed Brohm this preseason, but he may find himself on the practice squad if GB does what they should do and find a backup with some experience.

Am I the only one who thinks Rodgers has been the most impressive player this preseason. And I don't want to hear flack from someone who hasn't seen every Packer game this offseason. He has been accurate and has a Favre-like cannon. Amazing considering the amount of pressure that has been on him. I know it is only preseason, but you got to be able to do it in preseason to do it in the regular season.
Maybe...he looked shaky in the 9er game when they were getting pressure. Not all of it was his fault as the line was not holding their end of the deal...but he held the ball a bit too long sometimes too.

well, this game is done I think. KC was just intercepted.Overall, nothing worthy to note on the Packers as starters only played one play. Well, except Brohm and Flynn still SUCK. For Tenn - hard to give a grade as they played against 2nd stringers.Having said that, Flynn just threw a nice pass to Swain. Having said that, both will be cut.
Flynn will not just be outright cut unless they bring in a vet backup. He may end up on the practice squad. Much of the preseason he has outplayed Brohm...and we know Brohm is not getting cut.

Because he's QB #3. No team only carries 2.
Craig Nall would be a better choice
 :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Ummm...he is right sadly...as long as they are not worried that Flynn would get picked up by someone else if they tried waiving him to put him on the practice squad. After last night, I don't think they are worried.

If Flynn were released he would not clear waivers. He made plays by himself last night with a make-shift line and WRs that will be trying out for the CFL very shortly. Flynn is the #2 in GB. Brohm will be #3. The Packers will bring in a veteran if one of Flynn or Brohm gets a bump or bruise and they'll immediately be sent to IR to protect them from other teams.

I think it is clear that Flynn earned the #2 spot during the games we all saw. I expect their performance in practice and other factors unknown to the common fan will play as big or a bigger role in the decision, but I certainly expect that Flynn has leapfrogged Brohm after last night. That leaves them in a tough spot as Brohm may not make it to the practice squad if waived. I suppose is a problem many teams would like to have. They will be cutting some very good offensive players - perhaps Brohm (if they sign a vet as many fans hope), probably Morency and, by the looks of things, a couple decent WR's.

As bad as some people got on someone else about cutting Flynn...come on...they are not cutting Brohm.I agree on Morency...they keep saying he has showed things in practice...but I have yet to see what all he really brings to the table.IMO, Lumpkin has looked very good out of the scrubs...the guy just runs hard every time he touches the ball.WRs kept Driver, Jennings, Jones, Martin, Nelson for sure. After that, not sure they really keep anyone else other than for the practice squad.TE will be some tougher decisions. Behind Lee...they have always liked Humphrey...but I think he may be gone. Keeping Finley and maybe Haynos (who has looked pretty good).

Craig Nall is not on the team. And there is no reason to cut Brohm or Flynn. NFL teams carry at least 3 QBs, and that #3 QB is like a free pass since they don't count against the 45-man game day roster. If the #3 QB plays in a game before the 4th quarter, then the #1 and #2 QBs cannot return to the game. The only way Green Bay cuts Brohm or Flynn is if they bring in a vet, but neither would clear waivers, and it would be foolish to give up on Brohm after one preseason. Rodgers didn't look much better after his first preseason.

 It would not shock me to see Flynn end up the #2. And I agree with you 100% on bringing in a vet only after putting one of the current QBs on IR to protect Brohm and Flynn.

Here is the NFL's Third-Quarterback Rule

NFL'S "third-quarterback" rule -- sometimes misunderstood:

Seventeen years ago (1991) the third-quarterback rule was instituted to enable teams to have an emergency quarterback available who was not on the 45-man game-day active roster, since many teams, for strategic purposes, only carried two quarterbacks on their game-day roster.

Everybody thinks they understand the NFL's "third-quarterback" rule. But do they?

The rule states that if a third quarterback is inserted before the fourth quarter, a team's first two quarterbacks cannot be used in the game at any position.

Another aspect of the rule is sometimes misunderstood. It is a coach's decision as to whether a third quarterback will be used.

The active quarterbacks do not have to be injured for a team to use its third quarterback.

Maybe I am naive and this happens more than I realize, but how can you IR a guy for an entire year unless he truley has a season-ending injury? Wouldn't the player be mad as hell? Whichever of these guys ends up being #2 is very likely to get extremely valuable experience this season.

I don't know the exact rules on it, but Drew Stanton was pretty much an IR stash last year.
