Titans | Jones linked to drug dealer

Tue, 27 Feb 2007 16:24:59 -0800

News Channel 5 in Nashville, Tenn., reports police wiretaps and documents link Tennessee Titans CB Adam Jones to one of the largest drugs rings in recent history. Metro Police busted the ring April 1, 2006. Jones was recorded talking to Darryl Moore, who was the target of the investigation. Evidence showed that Moore may have even done drug deals from Jones' house. The recordings revealed Moore's concern that Jones' smoking pot too much may hurt his career. They also raised questions as to whether Moore was a dealer for Jones. Jones faces no charges at this time.

MORE STORM CLOUDS FOR RAIN MAN

At a time when an increasing number of league insiders believe that the NFL and the NFLPA will come together, and come down hard, on Titans cornerback Rain Man Jones based on his alleged involvement in a strip club melee on February 18, the news is only getting worse for Jones.

WTVF-TV in Nashville has obtained taped conversations of Darryl Moore, a convicted drug dealer and acquaintance/friend of Jones. Moore's comments reveal a level of familiarity with Jones, and with his behavior, that is alarming but hardly surprising.

Moore's comments include the following:

1. "We gotta slow down, man. We gotta get him focused on football, man. He's focused on too much other ****."

2. "You know, I was talkin' to him the other day about smokin', and he was like man, if I didn't smoke I couldn't take all the stress that I'm dealing with right now.'"

3. "He gotta concentrate on season . . . that ******* drug test coming up. We telling him he needed 33 days before he took his ******** test; dry-out, and he didn't. That's let me know right there that he ain't taking his ******* job serious."

Moore also reportedly mentions that Jones had been betting thousands of dollars on college football games.

Even before this new information was released, Jones was quickly becoming radioactive in NFL circles. He has been unable, we're told, to find a new agent. And multiple sources tell us that the Titans are trying to trade him, but can find no one who is willing to give up a first-day pick.
http://www.newschannel5.com/global/story.asp?s=6146420  :pickle: :pickle:

The term "idiot" is an understatement. Even the drug dealers said he needed to take his job serious and concentrate on football.

You really couldn't, with 24 hours and a very good imagination, plot out a better way for a complete idiot to ruin his life than PacMan has done in the past couple years.

"Evidence showed that Moore may have even done drug deals from Jones' house."

If that is true I guess he could face time up river ?

Game Over for Pacman. I feel bad for Mrs.Pacman. Shoulda focused on eating all the dots (football) instead of going for the fruit in the middle (drugs).

Don't be fooled by police reports or a bar tab featuring several $600 bottles of Patron tequila; Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones wasn't such a high roller the night he and his entourage allegedly ignited a brawl in a Las Vegas strip club that ended in the shooting of three people, the club owner says.-- The Tennessean
And he's cheap too.

Sorry if it's a honda.

Link to vid of newsclip.

Summary: One of his good buddies is a 'drug kingpin' recently nabbed with nearly 2k pounds of drugs: marijuana & cocaine. Taped conversations show Pacman requesting marijuana from the guy. Other conversations suggest drugs may have been dealt from Pacman's home. Pacman is a thug.

This stuff drives me crazy. If any one of us were to pull the same junk this guy seems to be getting away with we'd probably lose our jobs (and good luck trying to find another one with a felony or your record - not speaking from experience  ), serve time in jail (oops, been there), lose our driving privileges (ex. DUI), maybe even ruin a marriage. and this guy still is getting paid as an NFL player. I mean enough is enough already.

We need a new icon of PacMan (the game icon) reducing to a "poof" as when he dies in PacMan's honor :gameover:

It is always interesting to see the choices people make. On one hand I feel sorry for the guy, wasting his life like that. On the other hand, I was never given an opportunity like him, and know darn well I wouldn't waste it like that.

As a Steelers fan, I do have somewhat of a respect for the Titans. But if they do nothing about this, my respect has gone

On the same token, though, I think the NFL has to step in here. This #### will keep on happening if they allow it.

:goodposting: Pac can't blame this on no one but himself.........words can't explain this, it's unreal.

I think he is just misunderstood. You need to look at his past and understand that he isn't really at fault here. It is society that has caused him to be the way he is. We need to look toward him with compassion. Society has forced him to rely on drugs because of all the stress that he is under.

What would any of us do if strippers were trying to steal our money and drug dealers were making up lies about us?

I'm not sure he's an idiot. I believe he is simply missing the "maybe I shouldn't do that" part of his brain.

More like he's a talented athlete and his "maybe I shouldn't do that" part of his brain never developed because too many people were busy feeding the "I'm an athlete and I get away with anything because I make people money" part of his brain.

Or maybe he's just a bad dude who happens to be a football player.

I almost always give players the benefit of the doubt and have done so for Pacman since he's been drafted...bottom line this jackass needs to get his #### together or he's not even going to be alive in a few years.

I say suspend him for a minimum of a year...if the law doesn't do it first.

noticed in the transcript that even his boys know when the drug tests are. Is the NFL really only acting like they are trying to test and stop players from using drugs? If this is true, do all players know when the drug tests are?

Oh yes, this is soooooooo shocking. Nope, I didn't see this coming. Pacman Jones, linked to a drug dealer? NO WAY!

Put him in prison and lock the keys already before someone innocent get killed.

 I believe that unless you are in the substance abuse program for previous offenses then ur tests are scheduled. Only when you have been popped are they random and unknown. Ricky Williams kept himself testing clean for a while before he finally started getting hit.

Why get involved in drug dealing when you are making millions of dollars legally? I think he is missing half of his brain just like that Rams ex cornerback .

A painful question to ask but will it turn out to be isolated to Pac-Man or will there be more fallout on the Titans or on other teams (be it NFL or other). Then again, it doesn't seem like he's been a big "team" guy this whole time so it's entirely possible it's isolated to him. Goodell's gonna put his stamp on this one for sure methinks.

I know that the Titans really want to get rid of him, and that the NFL really would prefer that he be out of the league, but I'm pretty sure that the current CBA does not allow teams to cut players due to conduct. Teams are only allowed to cut players due to performance or issues directly related to the team. Even with his outrageous behavior, I'm not sure that the Titans can cut him without having Jones file a grievance against them that would have a good chance of winning.

I have a mansion, forget the price

Ain't never been there, they tell me it's nice

I live in hotels, tear out the walls

I have accountants pay for it all

They say I'm crazy but I have a good time

I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime

Life's been good to me so far

My Maserati does one-eighty-five

I lost my license, now I don't drive

I have a limo, ride in the back

I lock the doors in case I'm attacked

Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through

I can't complain but sometimes I still do

Life's been good to me so far

I go to parties, sometimes until four

It's hard to leave when you can't find the door

It's tough to handle this fortune and fame

Everybody's so different, I haven't changed

They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time

I keep on goin’ guess I'll never know why

Life's been good to me so far

Dude you would be surprised how many athletes are associated with drug dealers. part of the reason that most of these guys are there is because a drug dealer sponsered them. Not an excuse. but its true. For the record from the first time I heard Pac man speak I knew he was trouble.

 Thank you for pointing that out!!! All athletes aren't dumbazzez.

Look at what this behavior has done to the NBA. How many billions have they cost themselves? Where the Portland Trailblazers were kind of a running joke as drug abusers, the league image soon followed.

Keeping this in mind, is it any wonder that the NFL league AND the players union are starting to come down hard on guys like this?

I'm sure they've seen what it's done to the NBA and don't want it happening in their league. The NFL is a cash machine in the 2000's the same way the NBA was in the late 80's through the 90's. I'm sure they don't want to #### it up like the basketballers did.

How exactly does a drug dealer sponsorship work? Are they providing the scholarships that most of these athletes use to play college ball?

They should at least suspend him for the upcoming season until they figure out what to do with his punkass longterm.
