**Panthers at Lions** (-9.5, 44) 1:00 (1 Viewer)

The Lions will provably e down their 2nd and 3rd best player on defense, and their 2nd most irreplaceable player on offense, not to mention Gibbs and Reynolds.

This will not be an easy game for the Lions. Needs to be a coming out party for Jamo. LaPorta and Monty will be leaned on heavily.

On defense, the tackling of Branch will be missed a lot.

Lions have some injuries that are concerning.
But I don't think The Panthers have enough to take advantage on the road...

Lions Roar- 30
Panthers Meow- 17

I’m not starting him, but will be excited to see Jameson Williams usage in this one.

Lions are the much better team. But they seemed to slide on defense at home versus Seattle after an exciting win.

Seattle > Carolina… but the lions defense needs to show up.

Lions need to take care of business. Yeah they are missing ARSB, Gibbs & Branch. Possibly more. But they have a deep roster & they are a mentally tough team.

If Vaitai starts at RG, the OL starting 5 will all be healthy for only the third time in 39 games. Kerby Joseph back after missing 2 games, Jamo and Emmanuel Moseley making their season debuts.

Injuries are just part of the NFL. Guess what, nobody cares, don’t make excuses. Go out and do your job.

They’re a physical team that is better on both sides of the ball. Might not be pretty but controlling the line of scrimmage will net them another dub.

I don't love the injuries for Detroit but I also think they will be able to work around them. It will come down to the Lions D. If they can keep the Panthers offense under wraps then the offense can grind it out with Monty and win by constriction.

The last time they faced off in DET, Cam Newton threw for 357 yards and 3 TD's, but they lost. I don't think Bryce is gonna be able to duplicate that.

I've been a Panthers fan since I saw them win their first game against the Jets at Death Valley back in '95. It has been an up and down ride since, I don't think I have fully recovered from them letting #89 go, blowing the Super Bowl after a nearly perfect season, and then turning into perennial losers. Thanks to stubbornly drafting WRs then RBs from the Lions for most of the last 20 years I had a 2nd ****ty team to root for, and here we are today.

I think the game will be closer than expected, a cat fight if you will, but the Lions prevail and the Panthers remain defeated.
So take the 10 or 101/2 points is the way to go.
Biggest advantage Lions may have is going against a rookie QB. They certainly kept the inexperienced Ridder and Love in check the last two weeks.
As a Lions fan I’m edgy about this game as I painfully remember the run blitzkrieg the Panthers used to beat up the Lions last season.

Have this feeling the Lions are going to **** the bed. Just like they did against the Seahawks. Typical "play down to your opponent" while missing really important weapons to the offense. LaPorta is not ready to be ARSB.

  • Carolina has allowed the 8th most sacks (14)
  • Detroit's defense has the 8th most sacks (13)

  • Carolina has not scored more than 17 points in Bryce Young's 3 starts
  • Detroit has scored 20 or more points in 13 straight games, the longest streak in the NFL

  • Carolina is 26th in run defense, yielding 136.3 yd/g and 4.7 ypc
  • Detroit is 1st in run defense, giving up 60.8 yd/g and 3.0 ypc

  • Carolina is missing it's highest graded defensive player, S Xavier Woods
  • Detroit is missing it's highest graded DB, SCB Brian Branch
One guy on Carolina who is an absolute game wrecker is Brian Burns. As a team the Panthers are in the bottom quartile in pressures and hurries but they've gotten home 12 times.

Detroit has generated the 3rd most pressures and 4th most hurries with the 2nd lowest blitz percentage. The front four has been outstanding winning battles.

They need to lean on a variety of people to cover what’s missing. Kalif Raymond disappears for weeks at a time due to being down the order, but he’s got good speed and acceleration, between him, Laporta and Gibbs (?) they can hopefully cover some of Amon-Ra’s short to intermediate stuff. Reynolds is trusted. Some weeks they don’t really use him but when they do he’s reliable. Get creative with Jamo with some end-around/reverses and maybe he can haul in a deep shot.

Use the line being fit and hammer them with Monty. It’s not ideal but we have enough to win, our run D has been good and surely we can pressure this rookie QB into making mistakes

Didn’t Carolina run all over Detroit last year? Good Sanders and Chuba day today? Still though, DET 24 -CAR 23.

Detroit is one of the best teams in the NFL at stopping the run this year. Missing Branch will hurt, but I'd be pretty surprised if Carolina had a good day running the ball.

Lions inactives:
  • Amon-Ra St. Brown
  • Jahmyr Gibbs
  • Brian Branch
  • James Mitchell
  • Levi Onwuzurike
  • Brodric Martin
Panthers inactives:
  • Raheem Blackshear
  • Donte Jackson
  • Deion Jones
  • David Sharpe
  • Xavier Woods

What a beautiful play by Hutch!

This lions team is probably better than any since Barry.

My goodness I’ll probably be proved wrong but with the crowd this red hot it really feels like we could absolutely demolish them today. Jinx engaged. Sorry.
